We LOVED our meal here. Our family of 4 with two kiddos (age 6 and 4) all enjoyed our food and the staff was great to our kids. The food was outstanding! The Rock Shrimp Bruchetta was delicious. Tomato bisque soup was fresh and flavorful. Our stuffed pheasant and wild game dishes were very tasty and well- prepared. We finished with the deconstructed s'more (all made in-house) for dessert and it was so good. This was a great getaway from Big Sky. Very scenic setting and beautiful building. A+! Thank you!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Big Sky. Wonderful food in a beautiful place.
Fabulous food served perfectly!
We sent the elk entree back 3 times for being cold and way undercooked (rare). Each time it returned to the table, the chops had more sauce and remained undercooked. After having been fired up a few times, the outside of the chops were hard to cut, chewy, and dry. Very disappointing, overpriced, and mediocre food.
The food & service was amazing!!! Loved all of our waiters recommendations!
Absolutely amazing!! Do not miss this opportunity.
Everything was top notch. Service, food, ambiance couldn't ask for any nicer. Wagyu wellington was delicious. Great recommendation regarding wine
We were a party of four and had a wonderful experience with interesting and delicious dishes. RRL is right up there with the top restaurants in Big Sky. We will definitely be back.
Food not great. Asked for substitution and waiter was rude. He was not up to par with how wonderful rainbow ranch is
This was our 3rd visit to Big Sky and each time we make it a point to dine at Rainbow Ranch. However, this time the service was fair, at best . We were very disappointed and probably will not visit again which is a shame because it is such a spectalur setting.
Have been many times and the food has always been delicious, beautiful and innovative. The service was outstanding. Love to come early and have a cocktail in the cozy bar in front of the fireplace. It’s a bit pricy but worth it for a special night.
This place is effing awesome. Love it. Want to live there permanently.
Rainbow Ranch has a lovely atmosphere with outstanding food, wine list and service. My gluten allergy was accommodated with care, although limiting on GF desserts. I would highly restaurant to all. It was the best meal in Big Sky area we have had so go and enjoy !!
Excellent service and food but a bit overpriced for value.
Food was superb and unique. Foodies would enjoy
We recently had dinner and spent the night at the Rainbow Ranch with some friends. The food was incredible, the service was amazing and the accommodations were incredible. We will definitely be back again!
Many New Year's Eve dinners are lackluster and decidedly unspecial -- see my review of Jean-Georges' Inn at Pound Ridge a few years back. This was not so for the Rainbow Ranch Lodge in Montana! We had a late 10pm reservation and they gave us a really excellent meal. I had the pheasant with risotto, and it melted in my mouth (and was washed down with a good Chenin Blanc). Dessert was a sweet and tart, strawberry and rhubarb cobbler, followed by coffee for the drive back to Big Sky. Oh, I forgot to mention the fireworks at midnight, but the bottom line was the food was really good.
Food is good but the food is very busy. There is just too much going on with each item. Service waa good but rather slow. Mushroom bruchetta was excellent. This place is Very, very pricey. Probably would not go back.
We had a phenomenal date. The ambiance of Rainbow Ranch is 2nd to none.
Our server, Jeff, was an excellent host and provided great food recommendations. The manager Dale provided us with an excellent Barolo wine suggestion to accompany our meals.
They claimed they didn’t receive our reservation from opentable . They didn’t give us a table till we pretty much pick one and sat down. The manager was rude and condescending, not apologetic for mistake. Blaming it on open table not them
Also, don’t order the trout
We were on our first trip to Big Sky over Christmas. I was looking for a nice meal for my family on Christmas Eve. The reviews for Rainbow Ranch were good so i reserved for dinner. Extremely impressed with ALL aspects of the experience from the time you walk in the door. Very friendly and prompt service. Of the 5 of us, we tried most of the entree items which focuses on wild animal from Elk, Bison, Beef and Wild Boar. There were other items but these were awesome. As noted above, the service and food were phenomenal. I highly recommend when in the area.
Delicious restaurant excellent for special occasions
I took my girlfriend to the Rainbow Ranch for her birthday. We are both local residents of Big Sky. The service was outstanding, the food was outstanding, and the ambiance was outstanding. We both had the Bison Tenderloin, hers cooked rare, mine medium. Absolutely perfect. Wild mushrooms for an appetizer, and Creame Brule for desert. By far the absolute best place for a romantic dinner in Big Sky. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. We both had an enjoyable evening, one we will not forget.
Romantic and perfect for our anniversary celebration. Only wish we would have spent the night too.
We had an amazing food experience at Rainbow Ranch! The creative combinations for all courses were so delicious and interesting. A true taste explosion!
We went for our third anniversary dinner while in Big Sky, but we weren't staying on property. The patio was ideal for views and ambiances and loved the opportunity to enjoy ingredients from local producers.
Wonderful place to share a special night iut!
The food descriptions did not match what was delivered. I was also disappointed that the table behind us was having very loud inappropriate conversations with no regard to others around them and the servers didn't seem to think it was a problem.
The mushroom appetizer was amazing but the rest of dinner kind of fell flat. We did not get dessert since it looked very similar to Buck's T4 and we wanted to try something we had never had before. I would definitely try it again but maybe ask more questions about the menu before placing my order.
We went to the rainbow ranch twice during our five day trip. The food was absolutely wonderful. We ate out twice daily for each day during our conference and tried as many highly rated restaurants during our trip and the food here was just incredible. The trout pate, elk, wild boar, and pheasant was all a delight to my palate. Thank you for the wonderful meals.
We're looking for a nice sitdown meal in this did not disappoint. An absolute must visit restaurant if you are in the big sky area. Fit for any foodie: Fois Gras, Elk, wild game. Just Fantastic! This is worth a special trip.
Great Food! Great Service! Brianna is Awesome! Menu is excellent. Great Bar!
Friendly courteous staff! Beautiful property!
The atmosphere is wonderful, the food was delicious, and the water views are gorgeous!
Excellent experience with spectacular river views. Server very friendly!
Mediocre expensive meal.
Beautiful view of river & landscape.
Go to Lone Mountain Ranch for excellent meal at same price.
We loved everything about this place! Although more affordable options on the menu would be nice.
An amazing dining experience from awesome food to a waiter who was very attentive to our needs. We will be coming back!
We were on vacation and were amazed by the flavor and presentation of the food. The service was super. We thoroughly enjoyed this little gem of a spot.
We were very excited to have dinner here as many of the reviews were good. We unfortunately did not have a great experience. I will say the view is great with the Gallatin River rushing by and the small pond and grass area leading to the river. The wine list is good but heavily marked up expect to pay 1/3 again the normal restaurant price for a bottle. Not sure why but the piped in music was very loud and not appropriate to such a great setting. Service started very well with both the host and waiter being very friendly and attentive. The salads were very good a mixed green and the beet salad was excellent. Now for the not so good. We found the food to be very overpriced and extremely pretentious. Rock shrimp appetizers were small bread "cups" filled with cream cheese and maybe one very small chunk of shrimp in each one. After asking the waiter if the rib steak was good and assured it was I ordered a rib steak medium rare. What was served was a 1/4 inch thick untrimmed steak cooked past well done. The mushroom sauce was good but very few actual mushrooms and the sauce and steak where put on top of fries so they were soggy and not appetizing at all. My wife ordered the walleye topped with crab. This would have been good but it also was terribly overcooked and dry. Desert was OK, but nothing spectacular. After informing the waiter the steak was brutally overcooked he then was very unfriendly the rest of the meal. They did offer desert free, but an uneaten $42 steak is not the same as a $6 desert. If you are looking for a good, but expensive glass of wine and a terrific view this is the place. If you are looking for great food not so much. There are better options in the Big Sky area.
Great dinner . Pricy for sure. We had a steak and elk chops. The grass fed quality of the meat was extremely good. The wines were equally good. With dessert, we got to over 100 pp, so be prepared. The service was excellent, if a tad effete and formal. Less sincere than we like. Overall, it deserves the great reviews it gets.
I had one of the most perfectly prepared beef tenderloins EVER!
