Rainbow Lodge Ratings and Reviews
Had a group of folks from work in from out of town, and took them to Sunday Brunch. They were not disappointed. Service and food were excellent, as usual. Plenty of food options for all types of preferences (wild game, vegetarian, "traditional" brunch). Beverage options (all types) were also fantastic.
The ambience at Rainbow Lodge is great, the service better than average. My dinner was amazing with regards to flavor, but the meat was served cold. I should have sent it back and will do so in the future if that happens again. My wife had the vegetarian entree and it wa Sheryl heavily seasoned, much more than necessary. Still, we will be back and would recommend Rainbow Lodge.
Great restaurant, it was worth every review on trip advisor. Best service I ever had at a restaurant. Went for Valentine day and the champagne met us while being seated. It was a four course meal and they brought our plates out quickly. Soon as we were done with one meal they promptly removed our dirty plates with a new meal. Worth every penny. Nice and quiet with romantic scene in the lodge.
Celebrated my wife's birthday with friends and had a fantastic time. The food was amazing especially the pheasant. Service was attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant's wine list is extensive and illustrious. Great food, great wine and great conversation who could ask for a better birthday celebration. I look forward to returning soon to the restaurant.
Food and service are always impeccable- however- this time , I was less than impress with the service. The wait staff never refilled our water or came back to check on us. To get a second drink - we had to catch his eye across the room. We will continue to go to Rainbow Lodge and we will just chalk this up to a bad day.
The Lodge is a great place to meet old friends and make acquaintances into new friends. Warmth of wood and log and stucco walls , soft lighting and unobtrusive background music, rather than the obnoxious rock noise of too many restaurants in Houston. Excellent wine list. The Tied Fly Bar is a work of fine art; sculptured trout and swell booze choices (except for the lack of a few top Texas wines). Fine art and magnificent animal mounts throughout the building. Did I mention superb food? Whomever decided to always have the best bread in Houston was a genius.
The quail appetizer was excellent. And the main courses were excellent too. But what stoke the show was the desserts, the bread pudding and the chocolate mousse. Worth the drive.
We got an inside room but we requested if we cd sit in the main room. The lady adjusted us, it was a great evening. Thank you.
Beautiful restaurant. The area we were seated at was quite noisy, but when we walked through all areas after dining we found there were several smaller quieter rooms. So for next time I would want to request that. We combined smaller plates with dessert which was the perfect amount together.
We focused mostly on the game selections (quail, bison, elk, venison, added 1/2 lobster). All the game was quite good. The big disappointment was the lobster. The first 1/2 serving was way over cooked, basically a lobster mush. We sent it back, the replacement was only half mush (I.e., still over cooked). No comment from the manager, etc., so I guess that is the way they roll.
The service was great and restaurant is absolutely beautiful with a great ambiance. It was my boyfriend’s birthday so I decided to do something different.
The food was a bit on the “wild” side. We enjoyed the experience of trying things we have never eaten.
It was a bit pricey. $200 for two people. We probably won’t regular the place but everyone should step out of their box and try something new.
Rainbow Lodge certainly lives up to its reputation, even in the new location. The ambiance is very rustic and reminds of a hunting lodge in the Colorado mountains. Food is exquisite and the menu features creative takes on non-traditional proteins. I went for the buffalo tenderloin special and we split the crab cake appetizer (to die for). Afterwords, we finished with croissant bread pudding - YUM! Highly recommend this place for a special night out with a loved one.
The food was delicious, service very good and our seating overlooked beautiful natural landscaping in the back. However, when we go back, we will ask for seating away from the bar as the noise level was very high and we could not converse easily, which is why we did not give full marks in our rating.
Went to Rainbow Lodge for the New Year's Eve dinner - a four course meal. For the price, it wasn't anything special. While the service was very good, I felt like we were eating on an assembly line. The restaurant seem to run as many customers through that evening as quickly as possible. Having spent over $250 for 2 people for dinner, I think I'd prefer something better. Will definitely consider another restaurant for New Year's Eve next year.
