I was recommended Rainbow Lodge by a friends for my wife’s 30th birthday and it did not disappoint!
Christmas party time so the noise level was higher than expected but not a deal breaker. They tried to put us as far away from the party area as possible and gave us a view to boot. Food was excellent but a little pricey and portions could be bigger. This is Texas with Texas appetites but the flavor and overall taste was excellent. Been a few times usually for occasions and will go again.
Great Thanksgiving menu, quality service and wonderful setting for a festive holiday gathering.
Went for Thanksgiving, price fix menu. My husband ask for all white meat and got dark meat also. The dark meat was chewy. Don’t know if they cut it wrong or was from the drumstick. I had the filet and it was great! Sat underneath the ac, I was freezing! The place was packed so couldn’t ask for another table. I requested a table by the window. Oh well, I survived.
The meal, including dessert, was much bettter last year. Service was brusk..Will not return.
Went for Thanksgiving. It was a fixed menu with no room for substitutions or changes for diners with food allergies. Our waiter did his best. I
The ambience of this restaurant was very nice, very rustic. This was our first dining experience there and we didn't quite know what to expect. We felt like we were in a northern lodge with the décor and atmosphere; the staff was very friendly and attentive. It would have been nice to sit in the garden area but I believe it was closed. The specials were a good selection and not out of the pricing range of the rest of the menu. The food was very good and oddly enough the star of the table were the brussel sprouts, and I am not even a big fan of them but they were the perfect side. I had the Taste of the Wild and the Game Special. My wife had the Seared Sea Scallops and Braised Venison. Every thing was cooked to perfection and our cocktails were on point. We will be back again.
Menu at Rainbow has become skewed to game entres- would have liked to have more choices of non-game items.
Fantastic restaurant. Try their wonderful gumbo and the mixed grill.
Wonderful corner table with beautiful view watching leaves fall😊
For a very unique, although pricey, special occasion, there's no place that compares. The history and decor can't be duplicated and the menu selection is like no other restaurant. Wild game, fresh seafood and beef are prepared to perfection.
Delicious food in a beautiful atmosphere.
The duck gumbo was outstanding.
The chicken fried venison, crab cake, fish and chips, fried oysters were all delicious.
We split the icebox lemon pie covered in blueberries in a port wine sauce. Unbelievably delicious!
A gem in the houston restaurant scene.
A special place for special occasions
Our server was outstanding. Super knowledgeable and super sweet! It was our first time to go to this place so we didn’t know what was good. We did the taste testing of everything, he recommended it, and it was to die for. Everything was so good!!!!!
This is a great place for special occasions. We were celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. The whiskey selection would make Ron Swanson proud.
We are frequent diners here. The food is usually excellent but today's oysters were greasy and soggy. Shrimp and grits and artichoke chicken were up to the usual standards. The surprise was no more $2 champagne. Still $2 mimosas but champagne was $12 a glass!
Went for Sunday brunch for the 2nd time. $2 mimosas! Excellent food. Great patio out back. Awesome place to take someone to impress
Trout entree with lump crab was spectacular! I am not a margarita drinker but the Hibiscus Margarita has turned me into one. It’s so well balanced and refreshing. King crab was added to the small plate menu so will that next time. Rainbow Lodge is a go to date night restaurant. We love to try new places, but the Lodge is a keeper in date night rotation. Service is always excellent.
This place is definitely for carnivores. Our lighter eaters were overwhelmed with the meat centric menu. Osso bucco was meh, but everything else was delicious. Especially the fried quail bites! Dessert was stupendous. Interested to try their brunch next.
Amazing as always
Our server Daniel was both humorous at times but still very respectful and helped us out throughout our experience there. He also accommodated my request in my reservation the best he could in remembering my significant other's birthday in bringing her a lemon dessert with a peach meringue after our meal. There was a slight wait on our wild game mix appetizer but the food had an elegant look and an overall great taste. The environment around us was both high end and at the same time cozy and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place for couples as a first date or recurring anniversary outing.
Always a great experience!
Monthly wine event
Great as always!!
The bison filet was amazing!
Long wait after seating, slow to serve us, I believe the server was over-committed to another area and was not expecting us. And the requested dining area for my birthday dinner was not available after we arrived. We were told it was not cold enough and the fireplace was not lit. We told him we would not mine we just wanted the atmosphere. He stated it was not open! This was our first time to dine with you. We will try again fingers crossed.
A garlic and mustard aioli overpowered any other flavor in our sandwiches. The room was very noisy.
Our waiter was amazing, he really went above and beyond! The food was delicious I tried the French Toast and crab cakes both were amazing!
Everything was great, except the noise level was a little higher than we wanted. Overall, still one of our favorite Houston restaurants.
For this being a higher end restraunt all I can say is I was very unerwhelmed. I expect much better when spending the kind of money we did.
We had a fabulous dinner at the Rainbow Lodge!
I’m always impressed with Rainbow Lodge. They have great atmosphere, a wonderful menu and awesome service. My group ordered a variety of dishes including bison tenderloin, Elk, Rainnow trout and beef ribeye. Not one had a morsel of good left on their plates. Our waiter was awesome as well, even taking pictures for us by the fireplace. Would definitely go back.
Excellent drinks and interesting menu options
Everything from the ambiance to the service was remarkable. The wait staff was attentive without being intrusive, and completely professional. Our waiter was extremely knowledgable about the items on the menu and the specials. When ordering appetizers (for 7), he mentioned the quantity of the item provided in a single order, then asked if he could increase the order so everyone seated could enjoy. I've been to this establishment before, each time I return, I am more impressed.
Great, as always.
The food , price and ambiance were perfect , enjoyed a wonderful brunch with my husband. But I did not care for my coffee (latte) at all, the coffee did not taste fresh.
One year anniversary
