The place is beautiful, had the halibut dinner was delicious but potion and amount of food in plate way to small and overpriced, maybe would try something different
Great Sunday Brunch! Many options, all of which are excellent! The mixed grill breakfast was tremendous as well as the wild duck gumbo and bread pudding. We'll be back!
Our first time for a Sunday Brunch. Excellent food and service.
The whole experience was outstanding!
My husband was back from a month in costs Rica
Great food, nice ambiance, good menu choice. After passing this restaurant for years, I finally tried it and it was not a disappointment. I will definitely return.
I love this restaurant
Amazingly cute venue with super yummy menu options!! Our server was wonderful & we enjoyed our entire visit to Rainbow Lodge!! Valet parking is great & I'm super happy that we opted for taking our smaller vehicle. Pretty positive that they’d have found room for our HUGE truck but glad that they didn’t have to ~
The only thing that we were not happy about is our food was cold. This was the first time dining at this location. We went to Rainbow Lodge many years ago when it was located off Memorial Drive
It was okay, we went with friends for my hud anda birthday...nothing terrible, but also not anything to recommend, in my opinion. Portions are small for the price tag. Cake wasn’t anything special at all. Our waiter didn’t come by too often. He made awkward comments and didn’t ever write down anything. A few times he had to rethink what we said and we were all saying “how about he get a pen” amongst each other. Food flavor wasn’t bad, but there’s also way better out there with same or similar price. We won’t be back.
We ordered the petit tasting menu for four and two wine pairings. All of food was served by a runner with no explanation of the courses; this was certainly not in alignment with the $81/tasting. Several of the red meat courses were served rare - our sever did not visit the table to identify if this preparation was suitable. Many of our dishes were removed in obscure manners and untimely when others at our table were not finished with a course. The entire experience was underwhelming, felt rushed and not worth the $438 total price we paid excluding the tip.
Great food and atmosphere
My husband had eaten there previously, but it was my first visit. Great, cozy atmosphere, and the food was fantastic. We started with the Taste of the Wild, my husband had the Nilgai and I had the mixed grill. Service was excellent, we will definitely be back.
Our server, Thomas, gave us impeccable service. I have not been here in 20 years, but it was beautiful.
We went there for Valentine’s Day and I ordered elk steak , it was all red and pink when I asked for medium well , the toffee cake was not suited to my case
Overall it was okay because of the ambience but if im paying 200 + for two people , I would expect something more delightful
Everything was very good, Valentine day price a little high, but as everywhere.
Went for Valentines Day and had a wonderful experience.
For someone that has been here before which we had great service at the time. Then to come back for a special occasion and recieve okay service with the food being cold and the waiter taking a while to acknowledge our needs.
Rainbow lodge was fantastic. The food was really amazing and the service was really awesome. I can't wait to go back and eat some more amazing food
Wonderful restaurant, excellent food and service. A very good choice for a any special night or just a casual dinner.
We just recently moved to Houston Texas to help our son and his spouse care for their new born baby. We are getting familiar with the roads so we use Waze to guide us places. On Valentines Day we wanted to come to the Rainbow Lodge to have a nice tranquil romantic lunch. There must have been a problem bcuz Waze originally said it would take about 14 minutes to get there. We left 25 minutes before bcuz we hate to be late. When we started to drive the gps monitor said 20 minutes.
To make a long story short we arrived at the Rainbow Lodge an hour late after driving past the airport and near a Mortuary Museum.
They could not be nicer to us as though we had arrived exactly on time.
We had a great table with excellent suggestions from our waiter whenever we asked. The food was so good we agreed to come back again soon. We were just a short distance away so we will go there often. It will be our new destination. We won’t need Waze to help us get there.
Great people, great food and of course great service.
Donette and her staff never disappoint. Allen took superb care of us. The antelope was astounding. And it's always enjoyable to stroll the grounds and see what new improvements they have made . Thanks for a great Valentine experience.
Deborah and Terry
It was amazing service, great food and beautiful views from the window. Overall a great Valentine’s Day dinner with my husband.
They sat us in the corridor...
Was a nice new experience. Reminded me somewhat of Africa. Asked for my steak to be well done and it was but lots of carbon on the outside. A good chef can cook one well done without the carbon on the outside. Other than that we enjoyed it all. Daniel was very pleasant and attentive.
Excellent food and service!! Everything from pulling into valet to paying the check was a pleasure. We will return!
The menu did not have enough normal food on it to accommodate a less adventurous person. I was willing to try something new but my husband was not. The flavor on his potatoes was a vinegar sauce and the steak was rare instead of medium well. Over all, we will not be returning. The portions were small, the bread is hard on the outside and tough to eat, and I dont believe we got our money's worth from this evening.
This was our third dining experience here. The trophy room is not as pleasant as the room with a view of the lawn. The gumbo was OK. The tenderloin plate was skimpy with the mushrooms and broccolini. The lemon pie was very tasty. The Maple Old Fashion was great. The Bombay Sapphire martini was good. The lamb plate was good. My wife was more pleased than was I.
Had a fantastic time with my beautiful date. Definitely going back soon and referring others
I lived in the Heights a few years ago, and it was one of our favorite spots. I returned recently for a business dinner, and the restaurant maintained the high standards I remembered. We focused on the game selections, a strength of the menu. Thanks for the warm and attentive hospitality from the team! It was great to be re-acquainted with an old friend!
We went to the Rainbow Lodge on a Wednesday evening to celebrate Valentine's Day. The place was full. It's a nice place but it was rather noisy and definitely not intimate. The service was ok, but not great. We both ordered the mixed grill - venison, elk, wild boar, and quail ($41) with mashed potatoes and a couple pieces of asparagus. Salad is extra. We find the food tastes better at Fogo De Chao. We had come to the Rainbow Lodge about 20 years ago. We thought we'd try it again. We won't be coming back.
We have been to several of the wine tastings and primarily come for the different wines. The food is usually very good, too. This last one caused me concerns about the safety of the food as two of the stations had food that was definitely off temperature. It was lukewarm at best. We enjoy dining at the restaurant and the food has always been top notch. They are doing a disservice to the guests and themselves if they have food issues at these tastings.
Always enjoy it, but this time it was over sold and extremely noisey
