Railcar Modern American Kitchen
Railcar is one of my favorite spots locally. I usually attend on Saturdays for the 12 hr roasted Prime Rib. The food this past weekend definitely fell off the spectrum of excellent. The Sriracha chicken bites were a bit salty. Salads were well seasoned as always. The 16 oz prime rib I had ordered had roughly 6 ounces of fat around the perimeter. This was less than ideal, paying an additional $4 for fat trimmings. This isolated incident won’t sway my decision to re-visit Railcar was the staff are always courteous and catering to any need. Just some honest feedback.
Food is absolutely phenomenal! Service/staff....lacking in customer service and knowledge of menu.
The food was absolutely delicious. We have been there for Sunday brunch before and that was fantastic. This was our first time for dinner. The asiago crusted chicken schnitzel was fantastic.
Atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. Food was excellent, portions were on smaller side, it was so good wish there was more! Service was lacking but not to the point we wouldn't eat here again!
Normally great service and food but restaurant was not prepared for demand on mother’s day. Out of many items we tried to order and food came out undercooked. Waitress was trying her best and she was wonderful but it was a rough night for them.
Severely understaffed on evening of 5/12. Made a reservation for dining room, not bar high tops. Arrived at time of reservation and was told it would be 15-30 minutes. Got sat at a high top in the bar. Bartender was serving all of the bar tables by herself along with making all of the restaurant's drinks. For that being the case she did a good job. Took over an hour to get our food from the time we ordered. Food came out cold. Was told someone would be out to talk to us about the problem. 10 minutes later no one had come. Mentioned it to the bartender and she knew nothing of the scenario. No one ended coming out to speak with us, we were told they were too busy.
Utter disaster. We went for Mother’s Day dinner, to celebrate with a group of 8. We were seated at 6pm, or a little before and did not get entrees on the table until around 8pm. We were told you were out of certain appetizers and after ordering pastas, were told they were also out of those. It took around 20-25 mins to get cocktails to the table after ordering. Pretty sure my mom waited longer for just an iced tea. We did receive appetizers, soup and salad, all of which came out about an hour or longer after we got there. We asked to speak to a manager on 3 different occasions, and all requests to speak with one were denied. We were told “he’s back cooking your food...” or “he’s unavailable at this time”. When the food finally came out, we all had to go home. We had a 4 year old that needed to get to bed. We all took our entrees to go, and upon eating them at home, found out they were just as bad as our experience. My family was extremely disappointed. We have had previous experiences at Railcar, which were wonderful. Not really sure what happened on Mother’s Day, but they really missed the mark. Completely missed the mark.
Service was very slow and the food was just 'okay'. The ribeye was not the best even though the flavor was good...was on the tougher side. I ended up giving the payment to the manager since the server failed to pick up the check after two walk by's.....let's you know how the overall service was that evening.
Great food and wonderful service. The crab bisque was simply amazing!
First time trying and on Mother's Day. Seated quickly with reservations. Very busy and food took almost an hour. One out of four of us pleased with order. Would try again on another day for a date night due to interesting menu.
Not great for allergies.
We went for a special mother’s day brunch. I was really looking forward to it. After mentioning my shellfish allergy, I was told there was only one meal on the whole menu that could be made for me. It wasn’t really my taste, but we had already been there for 30 mins and my son and husband were hungry so we stayed. I was really looking forward to French toast. Instead I had the eggs Florentine which was an acid bomb with all the artichoke hearts and goat cheese. It was a real downer for my special day. I understand wanting to avoid cross contamination, but they really couldn’t pull out a new pan for some French toast?
I went to the Mother's Day Brunch. The breakfast lavosh was divine!!!! I also enjoyed the bottomless spike drink which was the cider/orange juice. I will definitely be back. Food was awesome, service was awesome, and I had a great time!
our reservation was for 8:30, and we didn't get out until 10:30, it was very slow but the waitress was wonderful, except not touching back as we waited to see what we needed there were empty drinks a few times. The appetizers were great, the hamburger was great. Ps I had been there Monday for lunch, and ordered the salad that was like Thai, just so you know, there was very little chicken on that massive bed of lettuce, so I did not care for that.
Great service and great food!!
Food, as always, was very good (with one exception), but service was terrible on this night. Our reservation was for 6:30, and they didn’t even check us in. We had to request it be done after I got an email from open table saying that we didn’t show up. We went for my son’s 9th birthday (his pick). He wanted the ribeye, which he got. It was ordered medium rare, but came out medium well (almost well). We arrived for our reservation at 6:25. When the waiter finally came to our table about 20 minutes later, we ordered everything (drinks, appetizers and dinner). However, we didn’t even get our drinks until about 7. My son’s lemonade tasted like pure simple syrup. Our food came out a little after 7:30, making it impossible time wise with 2 young kids for us to request the steak to be corrected. A table near us had obnoxious children playing some electronic game which caused a loud siren sound every couple minutes (which I very well know is the fault of poor parenting and not the restaurant). Overall, I was disappointed with this trip to Railcar. It’s my favorite restaurant, but it really missed the mark this time.
Food was amazing, service was fantastic. Overall great spot to enjoy a delicious meal.
I love Railcar! Such a rustic and retro look! Great food (as always), and great service!
I have had such great experiences at Rail Car in the past, so this hurts me to do this. But this last service we had was terrible! A lady came up to us after sitting there for at least 5 minutes and no one helping us. She brought us 4 waters and said "Your waitress is coming with more water" and left. Another 5 mins goes by and the waitress shows up. She was very quiet and could barley understand a word she said. More people showed up to the table and we could not find her so they could order their drinks, but she shows up another 5 mins later with the first round of drinks and eventually takes their orders. She repeated it every time, and we eventually ordered our food. She didn't come back to our table until she was bringing our food. And then when we had to get going because we had a 1 PM appointment to get to, she completely vanished. Another waitress helped out get our checks, but she was not very kind about it. We got there at 11 AM and ended up cashing out at 12:35, In my opinion a meal should not take that long.
Wonderful food and great service....will for sure go back. Good wine list also.
Prime rib was very average. Not impressed with salad either.
Unfortunately the hostesses didn't support our request for a booth, rather seating my family in the middle of the bar on a Friday night in the server traffic zone. We have two kids and there were two booths available that we were told were being reserved for a party of eight. Then after we were seated the hostess sat two people and then another group of two in booths for four. Disappointed. My not go back. Food was great. Service is important.
Server got my meal wrong, brought chicken thai lavosh and I requested portabella mushroom lavosh. My husband was finishing his meal when my correct order arrived. Disappointing. I think it is important for a server to write it down and repeat an order back to customer. Food was outstanding, but experience very poor.
This restaurant was lovely and food/service great but when booking I noted it was a birthday celebration. When I checked in I confirmed with the hostess Open Table passed on this important info which they did. Restaurant did nothing. Huge disappointment.
Surprisingly not a huge menu but the food was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Food is always, always fantastic. Service was a little off this time but that is unusual. Favorite restaurant in Omaha.
Pleasant dining room. Good service. Food tasty. Location convenient. Parking easy.
First time I’ve been here in several years. It was so good! Food was wonderful and service was exceptional. I had a senior with me who doesn’t walk well. The hostesses bent over backwards to make sure she was taken care of and comfortable. Then our server was just as attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant.
My group of 8 went there to celebrate my engagement and had Nathan as our waiter. He was fantastic! He was friendly, efficient, and really helped make the event memorable. The food was spot on also! Everyone else in the group it was their first visit and they kept raving about how great everything was... Job well done!
The menu looked great and my meal was tasty but my wife got sick from her food. For that reason alone I could not recommend it.
Wonderful first experience! Highly recommend and will plan on going there again!
Easter Brunch was our first time there. We loved the different items on the menu but did think some of the portions were small, a few people with us finished off others plates to get full. I loved the Lemon Rocotta pancakes, but again you got 1. The sausage was amazing & you could tell it was NOT store bought. Our server was nice, but we had to ask for some things twice & didn't see him for awhile, but it was Easter. We will be back but probably order appetizers to make sure everyone gets full.
We went for Easter Brunch. The food was delicious! Our biggest complaint would be that we booked on open table about a week prior to Easter and we were sat in the bar area next to the bathroom, so other guest were constantly walking past our table making our table feel very crammed. The service was good, we had to ask for silverware, water and part of our meal after the majority of the food had been delivered. Overall it was a good experience.
The Nutella French Toast for my kids were very thin and very soggy. They could fall apart easily. My kids, who are not picky, could not take a second bite.
My chilaquiles were hard to eat. They were extremely dry compared to the delicious traditional dish. The chips were also very large, like nacho chips. The flavor was good despite all the negatives about the dish. But I couldn't eat much of it. I left the restaurant hungry.
My husband also ordered the chilaquiles and two a la carte items. Both the croissant & gravy and the ricotta pancake was served on the same plate. The gravy ran onto about half of the pancake. The pancake syrup (which was drizzled on by the cook instead of being served on the side to avoid sogginess) also mixed with some of the gravy.
The service was good though and was tipped generously; and the ambience was nice. Too bad we spent $80 on unpleasant food for Easter Brunch.
We love it!!! The food was amazing, and the service was equally as good.
Wagyu short rib stroganoff was the the best food I have ever tasted. Good selection of craft beer. Wife’s ribeye was among the best she’s ever had.
Great service, lovely restaurant! Definitely get the breakfast nachos!
The waitstaff was very friendly, but the food and drinks were not very good. The celery and pickles in the bloody mary's were wilted, the coffee barely room temperature, the brunch entrees mediocre at best, and 2 of the 4 of us had upset stomachs almost immediately after eating.
Every time we go there, the food is wonderful, we get sat immediately, and the service is fantastic. It’s one of my favorite restaurants
Brian was our server and did an amazing job! We will be back
Love this restaurant! If there is any criticism, it's that the portions are very small.
