The pork chop was so tender, you could cut it with your fork. It had a wonderful smoke flavor.
Best place for amazing food! The pork chop is the best dish if your hungry for meat. Soups, sandwiches at lunch are fresh and home made. Don’t miss having the chocolate cake- the best in all Central Indiana!

Can't say enough about the meal we had, it was so good. Service was top notch and everything was prepared perfectly. Very fresh and tasty. Waiter was a hoot and we had a wonderful time. A smaller space but perfect for those intimate gatherings.

Our first experience here and it was a delight. Loved the cottage pie and my husband had the steak. The kitchen understood rare, which few do. The Chilean red we chose for its (low) price was very good value and the coffee was amazing. Our 18 year old daughter said the burger was a bit salty, but she devoured it anyway. We appreciated the cake part of the restaurant baked chocolate cake but could the frosting be a bit less over sweet, supermarket-y? Thank you for creating a "cafe mocha" for our beginning coffee drinker, even though it was not on the menu. She loved it!

Four of us ate at the Rail for the first time. My interests in recommending it was based on some nice reviews in Indianapolis Monthly and Open Table listed it as one of the top 5 restaurants requesting table reservations. I think this would be a great place to eat at in the summer time at their outdoor seating. However we just ate their recently so it was very cold out. We were taken upstairs which was a little more private or intimate rather near a small bar area downstairs that was more compact, therefore nosier. Restaurant is not big but its unique and was intriguing as first timers. Its a two story Red Barn. The service was very good, the presentation was nice and the food was very good. I rated ambiance a 3 instead of 4 because the upstairs was so COLD. Our wives had to eat with their coats on so we didn't linger at our table after dinner. As we left we noticed the downstairs room was much warmer and might have been a better choice at least that evening. Will be back in the spring or summer to try it again.

This was such an amazing experience! We had cocktails, soup and the charcuterie board to start with. The cocktails were creative, the soup was fresh and one of the best I've ever had, and the charcuterie included ingredients that were clearly picked out with carefulness and precision. For dinner we had the Butternut Squash Polenta, the Cottage Pie and a bottle of red wine, which paired beautifully with both dishes. The Polenta was exquisite and perfect for the Fall season. It could stand up against any traditional Polenta dish, in my opinion. The Cottage Pie was a little heavy on the meat and did not have as many vegetables as I would have liked, however, the dish itself was presented well and tasted wonderful. All in all, Rail Epicurean Market is a must-visit. Great food, great staff and the restored barn atmosphere cannot be replicated. I highly recommend this fantastic restaurant!

Great place, enjoyed the food, great service but felt rushed as they closed at 9pm. They started cleaning up around us before 9pm and our reservation was at 8:30.
Would definitely go back again, but will plan for an earlier arrival. Recommend the shrimp and grits.

I had a cup of their beer stout soup which was absolutely delicious. Then I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and it was bland - no taste. The potato salad was fair. I'll not be back.
Didn't know this existed, like the other three restaurants in the same block. Very good food with nice personal chef twists to them. Service was solid, friendly. We sat outside and the weather was perfect for that. I'm hoping they get propane patio heaters for fall evenings, because this patio is really awesome for relaxing and watching people walking by to and from the other three restaurants in the area. This is an upand coming neighborhood area, really nice to see them succeeding.

Shrimp & Grits were amazing: rich, subtlety complex, just perfectly executed comfort food. The chicken & waffles, though, were bland and lacking something....
The service was lame. Long day, order a couple beers for the two of us, tell the server we don't want to order entrees or apps right away, just want to have a drink or two and mull. Our beers came a few minutes later, and that's the last our server saw of us for 20 minutes. I say "last he saw of us" since the downstairs dining area is the size of a family room... We saw plenty of him as he navigated all around our table dealing with his other seats. "Uh, dude, um... Could you just make eye contact with us? Just check in and see how we're doing? Because we would LOVE to order that second beer sometime in the near future....." And he arrived at the table with cans of beer jammed into the glasses. He'd then pop the cans and pour. And you're just thinking where that can has been, besides in our waiter's hand and before that in a cooler and before that in a delivery truck and... Come on, folks: train your service staff. Then for dessert, we tell him we just want to split a single item and could he bring two plates? He brings the dessert and single plate, with two spoons. It's chocolate cake, with ice cream. "Could we gave a couple forks, and that second plate, please?" And he says something innocuosly silly like "Hmm cool! ! Most people usually like having the spoons for the ice cream, but whatever you prefer!" And he snatches away the spoons and comes back with the two forks. No second plate. I had to snag one off a nearby empty table. Dude, just leave the spoons... Just.... (face-palm) For $100+ for a two-top dinner, my wife and I should not have to work this hard on her birthday. ;-)

The food is absolutely amazing! Each person at our table got something different so we could try several things. We had Chicken & Waffles, Salmon, Steak, Pork Chops and chocolate cake for dessert. You can't go wrong with any of them. We will definitely go back!
One of our favorite places but seems like they need to get back to the basics. Love the pork chop and gnocchi but wish they would go back to original small gnocchi.

This restaurant is overrated and overpriced! My first request was denied due to "running out if the special". My Waiter recommended a smoked pork chop which was way too salty (I know that I'd the nature of smoked meat, but much too salty even for that) and it was over gnocchi that was flavorless. I was not impressed!
Tasty and fresh food. Hipster style but clean and friendly staff. The baked brie was divinely creamy, salads crispy and refreshing, burger salty and perfectly moist and just fatty enough. Wait staff excited to please, sometimes too involved. My husband was skeptical when we got there, and said "this looks like one of those places you think you will like, and leave saying 'I could have done better.'" He left saying "that was the best brie I have ever had," and praising the rest of the meal. We split app, salad, and burger. Very filling!
Good ambiance, great cocktails and beer selection , good attempt at the food but missed the mark. A limited menu should be perfected the pork chop was overly salted, the gnocchi was like paste. The seasonal menu was very heavy for summer fare. With only a few entrees they should be nailing them. Waitress wasnt very attentive and we had to wait for a while to ask for refills.
Food was excellent. I had salmon, husband had chicken and we shared chocolate cake. Service was attentive and atmosphere outside dining was pleasant. Will try again.
After hearing great things about Rail for some time, we finally were able to make there for our anniversary celebration. The service was excellent- thank you, Ken. The specialty cocktails were unique and tasty, and the food was outstanding. There were several intriguing appetizers, entrees and desserts to choose from. Our selections were delicious (especially the chicken and waffles), and we'll be back again soon to try something different.
