Food quality was excellent. However, I would not recommend this place to friends due to its inhospitable policy of insisting that all members of a party be present in order to be seated. In my situation, I showed up 5 minutes early for a reservation that I had pre-booked on Open Table for a table for 2 people. Despite the fact that I explained that the person I would be dining with had just texted me with their location as being near the corner on which the restaurant was located, and despite the fact that I told the host that I would like to sit at my table and have a drink and appetizer while I was waiting for my friend to arrive, the host quoted their policy to me of not seating people (even for a table for 2), until everyone had arrived. This seemed unreasonable to me, given the fact that people can sit at their table and drink while waiting for others just surely as they can do that at the bar, but with less hassle. Given the circumstances of having made an advance reservation, and my arrival five minutes prior to my reservation time, and the fact that I told them where my friend was enroute (on the corner by the restaurant), I think it was inhospitable and rude to insist that I "go to the bar and have a drink" until "everyone" had arrived. Perhaps some actuarial accountant has quantified the number of minutes it takes to clear a table, and the "ideal time" that a table should be occupied to maximize the restaurant's profit margin, but this is a case of being "penny wise but dollar foolish." The policy makes you feel unwelcomed from when you first encounter the restaurant staff and they tell you that you can't be seated. Not good. If restaurants think this is a financially smart policy, they have missed the boat. You are a "hospitality" business; this does not feel welcoming. Again, "penny wise, but dollar foolish." Based on this policy, I would not retun to Ragazzi, and I will tell my friends not to bother, despite the high quality of the food.
My husband and I dined in for our anniversary, when we made the reservation i noted that it was our anniversary but it was never acknowledged. My husband has the Vitello Milanese and the veal cutlet was so thin and then breaded and fried you could barely taste the veal. I had the pollo Gorgonzola which I usually always get and love and again the chicken was so thin it was rubbery. I would suggest not making the meat so thin, it's not enjoyable.
We had a party of 5 for an early anniversary dinner for my parents. From the moment we sat we saw the young waitress had a very poor attitude. No smile, no hello, just "what can I get you to drink" in a direct manner. When she came back, I asked her if there were any specials and she said with a smirk, "ha, not until 5", it was only 4:30. She then took our order and we didn't see her again until she brought the check. Another waitress brought the food. By the way, 3 of us really enjoyed our dinners and 2 did not like theirs at all.
We looked over check and I caught a mistake that she charged us for penne ala vodka when someone only ordered spaghetti with tomato sauce. So I asked her if she realized it and she said with a big attitude, "yep". Long story short she corrected it after she had to see a manager. Now I still left a 20% tip because I assume they share tips here since we were served by another waitress.
But I will not be going back anytime soon.
We had to move tables a few times before finally being seated. I’m a bigger guy and I thought the table was abnormally small. The rice balls were good, the pasta was just pasta, plain. Cocktails were good but be prepared to pay a premium. Overall decent experience but for the price you can do better.
We visited early on a Saturday evening. We waited a few minutes for our 5:45 reservations. The restaurant was VERY busy with a number of large birthday tables. It is decorated nicely but a somewhat dark and kind of loud. Our server came over promptly and took our drink order and explained the specials. We shared the rice balls which were good and very shareable as well as a small plate of cold antipasto. One of the two would have been plenty as we were a party of two. I ordered the spinach ravioli with red sauce not the cream sauce on the menu. It was good and plentiful but salty. My husband ordered a chicken dish with asparagus which was good but also salty.
Prices were fair, service was good however the food was just too salty for us and average tasting. Nice place but just not for us.
We have eaten here on numerous occasions. It is handy for a dinner prior to the movies. The food is good, usually the service is exemplary, but we were in the corner and seemed to be an afterthought for having water refilled, or plates removed on a timely basis.
I would not hesitate to return to this restaurant again though. It is consistently reliable in terms of service, ambiance and food.
WE NEVER WAITED SO LONG AND WE HAD LOCAL THEATER TIX!! It was getting so that we could not tell if we'd miss our curtain!! Our waitress (and I have waited tables) simply ignored us. No stopping by, no apologies, just went missing for long minutes at a time. Finally the manager took our order....We picked this place, had eaten there many times with success, and were embarrassed as we were celebrating with friends who'd never been there...!!! such a shame that on a Saturday the restaurant was flummoxed by 200 seated for dinner. THAT'S SUCCESS!!! YOU NEED TO KNOW PEOPLE WILL SHOW UP ON A SATURDAY NIGHT and have enough staff and chefs on hand to handle it.
Waited over 20 minutes past my reservation time. They take you as you come in regardless of the fact you have set reservation. Food: lobster ravioli gummy pasta filling was mix not real lobster. Rigatoni sciciliano sauce was watery no flavor. For price need a new chef. Neighborhood place I wish would serve better food and not make you wait on a Saturday night for a 8:45 reservation!
