Rafele Ratings and Reviews
The best Italian meal I've had in a long time. The meatballs were melt-in-your-mouth amazing, and crispy artichoke a bit too crispy, but very tasty. For entrees we had the branzino and lamb ragu paparadelle-- both were well-prepared, fresh & delicious. Highly recommended. Nice intimate atmosphere and easy location in the Village.
Despite an unexpected delay, Rafele was able to save our reserved table and serve us a delicious repast with suggestions of which disches were most expediitous and which compimented one another. The wine selection was perfect both to coincide with our dinner as well as to relieve our stress. The difficulty was eliminated as we shared an excellent meal and arrived at theatre in a tiely fashion.
Excellent meal during a recent trip to NYC. Loved the family owned feeling of the restaurant and the genuine authenticity of the food and the staff. Our meals were absolutely delicious, the service was perfect and the atmosphere was great. Love this place and will look forward to returning on our next trip to the City.
Be careful when you book this restaurant, it is wonderful BUT they were going to put our table of six in the basement. The basement s not where you want to go! They only had one table occupied down there while upstairs was bustling and being a great night all the windows were open and it was great upstairs. We noticed that the community table was open and asked if we could have that. Fortunately we were able to get it, it made the difference between a wonderful night or a possible dreadful one!
Great value on authentic southern italian cuisine
Gnocchi was fresh and tasty
Lamb Ragu was great
Appetizer of stuffed zucchini was greasy and not a good choice
Staff was pleasant but very pushy to get us to order and finish
Place was not busy enough to warrant this attitude
Disappointing after reading reviews. Indoor & out door seating available. It was a beautiful evening, we chose to eat outside. Before food was delivered we realized that was a bad choice because of subway noise & wind picked up. Asked to move inside & was told all tables reserved. We ordered calamari, & & a pizza for apps. Both items were room tempature. Out entrees were not served hot either which lead to our overall experience being unsatisfactory . Also our waitress left after entrees served. We had to flag down her replacement who was serving other tables inside restaurant.
Will not return.
When we first ate here e were delighted with excellent food at reasonable prices. We recommended this restaurant to many of our neighbors in the West Village. Since our last visit (3 weeks ago), prices at lunch have increased approximately 25% - not very neighborly. Also, the constant flow of tour groups in and out was very disruptive, with many smokers milling around outside (where we were seated). Unfortunately, we will think twice about spending $14 for an appetizer and $18 for pasta at lunchtime. Adding 2 glasses of wine would bring our bill with tip to almost $100. No longer a neighborhood gem.
Very disappointed. The service was non attentive. We had to flag down our waitress all night. We ordered the steak for two. It came out already sliced and at room temperature. This is my second time at the restaurant with a significant issue with our order. It’s a shame, the ambiance is great but the service is a disaster.
Rafele never disappoints! I have been here many times and introduced both friends and business clients and every one of them has been delighted. It has become so popular that it can feel a trifle hectic at times, but servers are unfailingly charming and the food is absolutely delicious. Tastes like being in Italy. A top favorite.
We went on a recommendation from a friend. It was all she said and more. We were greeted by a friendly, helpful waiter. The drinks were great. He recommended some appetizers that were wonderful, especially the zucchini blossom. The tapas and flat bread were also amazing. All of our entries were perfect. The ravioli were good, but average. Definitely worth a trip!
Went here on a Sunday night. Was early for my reservation but no problem. # of us sat a had a bottle of wine, Bronzino , Ravioli and Seafood linguine entrees. Also had the Arancini for an app and ridiculous good chocolate lava cakes for desert. Coffee/espresso also was out of this world. Definitely would return when in the area.
