Food is amazing. Portions are pretty decent. Service is a bit slow, but that could just be that my visit was during s very busy time.
It was a really great diner! Food is super 👍 service tram was really nice too. Perfect diner
Nice food, warm atmosphere, good service. Will go again.
So many highlights on the menu. The arancini and cauliflower salad were amazing. DO NOT miss the pistachio semi-freddo. Wonderful feeling to the restaurant. Very memorable overall.
For a quiet excellent lunchtime restaurant Rafele is outstanding. Noisier in the evening, but always festive. We love this place.
Perfection personified by a gracious, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional staff. The different apps and entrees we had were all so good that not a crumb was left. And the dessert!! The cheesecake is to die for!
Delicious traditional Italian food was served at this location.
I've had great meals here and I've had awful meals. The fact that I keep coming back says something I suppose but they need to focus more on the kitchen it seems like that has fallen back a bit. Ingredients aren't as good as they used to be and the food tastes like it was rushed or neglected (my lamb ragu was overcooked and tough, and the lamb was far too gamey which I dont think is appropriate for a ragu).
I’ve been to Rafele lots of times, and I’m very disappointed in the service and food. Food was not great and positions weren’t how they normally are.
Always great food
Better than average service
Great pasta! The Cheese cake is amazing and an absolute must for desert. Great to stop in for a cappuccino and slice of cheese cake.
We were thrilled with Rafele. We changed the number of guests at our table twice within a day of our reservation and they were so kind and obliging. I even received a call directly asking if we preferred indoors or outside. The appetizers and food were all amazing! Lamb ragout, truffle/mushroom pasta, the gnocci, meatballs, flatbread pizzas and of course the ricotta cheesecake- after all we'd had, each of us could still have found room to have a slice of this dessert for our own. We will return.
My friend was running late and they held our table for us. We had drinks at the bar while waiting for her. They have a very good selection of wine. The waiter was very friendly. The food was delicious. I ate my husband’s leftovers and thought, I’ll have to go back there and have this dish. After our show, we returned to the bar for a night cap. We highly recommend this place and although it’s not that close to where we live, we will go back because the food was outstanding.
Service was terrific, pasta was fresh and perfect mouth feel, artichokes and zucchini flowers extraordinary.
Our 7:15 reservation on a Saturday was honored on time. Menus and water were quick to arrive. The noise level was so loud we couldn’t converse. The food was not up to par. The burratta was runny. A special, mixed seafood salad -2 orders- were mushy and soft shell crab over breaded and over cooked. The squash blossoms were also over breaded so the delicacy of the blossom was lost. The pasta aarribiata was tasty. We chose not to have desert. We’ve frequented Rafele since it opened. If Saturday had been our first time we’d not return.
What a fabulous restaurant. Food & service were exceptional can’t wait to go back
Great service, amazing food, affordable. My 3rd time there and never failed.
This was my first, but it definitely will not be my last time at Rafele. What a delightful surprise. Every single thing we order from fried artichokes to the delicious Chocolate Tortino. Every single course.
The only down side I experienced was that it was a tad too loud for my taste but then most restaurants in NY are very loud.
Such a delicious simple tomato pasta. With their homemade pappardelle. Lovely artichokes first perfectly lightly fried. Excellent service as always from Tomasso. .
The food here is really good. Service is friendly and good as well. Unfortunately, the service, as in most restaurants (I wish I knew why this happens), tapers off or completely disappears after the entrees are cleared away. It took quite some time to get someone to give us a refill on drinks and to obtain the dessert menu.
Rafele was great! I would recommend it to anyone who wants really authentic Neapolitan fare at a reasonable price.
The service was slower than usual, I've been here many times and this is a first. I'm chalking it up to being a slow holiday weekend. The food was very good as usual.
Excellent food! The service was FANTASTIC! Would hesitate to return again and again!
The food was subpar - no flavor and unoriginal. The waiter and busboy kept pushing us to pay the check when there was no one in the rest barely. Never going again.
We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated immediately at a window table. We shared the meatball appetizer, which was very good. There was good peasant bread and tapenade brought to the table. Our entrees were all very good; pappardelle with lamb Ragu, the fish special, and the soft shell crabs with a side of spinach. I really enjoyed the affogato desert. The outside seating was quite full by the time we left. The waitstaff were all pleasant. I would definitely recommend it and return there myself.
Rafele serves up subtle, yet authentic, beautifully prepared Neopolitan food. The menu includes excellent pastas and seafood dishes as well as daily specials. You'll find the frito misto here tastes as good as any in Italy and better than most served in other New York restaurants. It's fun to sit at the bar or at the chef's table, or outside along 7th Avenue South. A friendly staff provides efficient service.
Great ambience, and the best Italian I've had in New York City.. Friendly and the price point is incredible for the quality of food served.. I've been back twice in one week!
Food was very tasty and the menu was a bit more than the typical basic Italian place. Had pastas, proteins, salads, appetizers and pizzas. I had the kitchen add roasted cauliflower to a margherita pizza and they did it no questions asked--and it was amazing. The gnocchi and burrata appetizer were outstanding. Friend had meatballs which looked great except I didn't try.
Service was attentive but not overbearing, and the delivery was quick enough but not "get out of our place now" quick. A nice spot on 7th near the Village and I"d go again.
Food marginal. Marked deterioration in quality since last visit
Great meal and service at reasonable prices.
Great food, wonderful wine selection, best cheesecake ever and excellent service as per usual!
This restaurant was new to us. We wanted to be near the Cherry Lane theater and so we reserved a table here. How pleased we were that we did. The food was tasty, the service friendly and the atmosphere pleasant. We will come again.
Perfect Friday evening sitting outside on the sidewalk enjoying an aperol spritz and some delicious food. Seems like a neighborhood hangout and would definitely come back. The bucatini amatriciana was very good so was he whole branzino my wife ordered.
Great place outside in the summer!
Delightful waitress. Elegant, creative, and well-executed food.
Very good food. Waiter was average and felt like he was doing us a big favor— Calm down buddy your a waiter!
I would go back its worth it
This is my favorite place in the City, hands down. Great service and food is impeccable. 10/10 would recommend. Have gone on casual occasions, birthdays, anniversary’s. You name it
We enjoyed the food, but the service was poor. I would not be in a hurry to return.
We had a fantastic diner with good Italian food. Good service minded staff.
