The Food was great. However, The waiter seemed like he wanted to just throw in the towel. Maybe he had too many tables. I'm not sure if he was sweating due to his size or if it was too overwhelming. I didn't ask. I just didn't leave a tip. Plus my Cosmopolitan was warm.
Great meal! We were seated at the exact time of our reservation and were promptly greeted by our server. She shared the evening specials and took our drink order. She returned quickly and took our appetizer order. The appetizers were excellent. My wife's cream of crab soup was perfectly prepared and my Caesar salad was terrific. I had the meatloaf with redskin mashed potatoes and sauted spinach and itbwas delightful. The brown gravy was creamy and just the right amount for the dish.it was a good meal and i would recommend the restaurant to anyone.
This may be a stupid review. I always order my burger medium-rare, and never get it medium rare. it's usually closer to medium-well, as if the restaurant is afraid of the liability of serving undercooked food. I often wonder, since most restaurants deliver their burgers one way only, why even go through the motions of asking the customer what they want?
And so, I was somewhat delighted to actually get a medium rare burger. It was fabulous.
I've been to Rafael's several times, and their food is usually top notch. My daughter got a clams & pasta dish and had numerous inedible clams in her bowl, plus she came across something crunchy/gritty which she had to discretely remove from her mouth. Other than that, our meals were quite delicious.
We took Mom in for Mothers Day with the kids. Having to sit in the bar was a bit of an unpleasant surprise since we made a reservation 10 days prior, but we made the best of it.
The food here is always on point, and on this busy Sunday it did not disappoint. The cream of crab soup was more like porridge and lacked and taste of cherry, but it had plenty of crab and was sufficient enough for everyone to get a taste.
Next time I will call ahead to confirm we are not seated in the bar.
Unfortunately disappointed that we used opentable to reserve our spot but the restaurant didn't have the reservation. We were seated at the bar area in a 4 person table with 5 seats. It was extremely loud and cramped. The steak ordered medium rate was medium well at best and tough to eat. The serving staff was spectacular, just a shame everything else wasn't.
Always a great choice. Excellent food and atmosphere. And staff even accommodated our seating request.
Service was seriously excellent!!!!!
Our server Lisa was very attentive and did a great job.
Food very good as always
Only issue is that sometimes they don't check the computer for OpenTable reservations...
The seafood pasta dish was good with a creamy sauce I also got the trout which is not usually on their menu but was on the menu for restaurant week and it was predictably good I also suggest you try there Sunday brunch
Been a big fan for a number of years. Usually service is not their strong suit, but this trip it was exceptional. Food is always great, esp the 1/2 price burgers on Tuesday. They need a few more draft beer choices for my taste.
One of our favorite places - really great specials on Monday and Tuesdays.
I have recommended to a number of people -- great local spot.
We ate in the bar area and enjoyed a very tasty meal on a Saturday night when other restaurants had 1 hour+ wait times. We came right in and sat down right away. The service was excellent and the whole family was pleased with their food. Hidden gem...
Beware of making a reservation on Open Table for them. They do not check them. The hostess did not have our reservation. Fortunately they were able to seat us anyway.
Apps were very good. Others enjoyed their meals. I would not recommend the tilapia that I had. It didn't taste freshly cooked. Our server was absolutely fantastic. She was happy, friendly, patient and efficient. We had 5 children and 3 checks and she kept everything straight even though parents did not sit next to their children. Hostess was very helpful getting us a table for 10 on short notice and keeping us informed regarding when we'd be seated. Overall a very good place and we'll definitely go back again.
Great food, staff, and atmosphere. Will dine here again!
Excellent choice for informal meal; burger topped with delicious (substantial) crab cake was outstanding AND Tuesday is 1/2 price burger night! Terrific value; highly recommend!
Very pleasant evening. Tasty food and excellent service.
We love going to Rafael's. Tonight was no exception. But we were seated in the bar area which on this night was very noisy. I wished I had requested the dining room.
But Rafael's has great fresh food. Try their breakfast on the weekend or their 1/2 priced burgers on Tuesday
The food was very good. Unfortunately we were sitting on the bar side which is very noisy even in the early evening and we had a table right near the kitchen. We will try it again but more so just for fun and appetizers or maybe outside seating… To be continued
We were first seated in the bar which was extremely loud. Asked to be moved and had to wait quite a while to be seated in the dining room even though it wasn't full. The dining room was fine, The food was good. But service was very slow. It didn't appear to be the servers, but the kitchen. Then again after we got our check we never did see the waitress. Waited and then left cash and left as we were going some where else. Overall the service needs to improve.
The steak was overdone -very dry.
Wine- terrific Malbec-----waitress took forever and brought wrong wine on first attempt.
Salmon- way undercooked.
Recommend brunch menu- have had a couple of poor dinners so will only go for brunch or maybe salad and wine.
My reservation thru this site did not get to the restaurant
They had no idea we were coming. Food was good. Felt rushed.
Would have been much better if we had been seated in the dining room versus nthe bar but we were not given the offer was not made.
The crab cakes were very good. The rest of the meal was not very good and the 'special' fish tacos were terrible. The dish sides were a pile of white rice fir the tacos and uneatable roasted potatoes for the crab cakes. The carrot cake was second-rate and likely made by a commercial baker. The waitress seemed impatient.
Went for 12N Lunch on a Wednesday with a group of friends. Restaurant was extremely busy every table in dining room was occupied. 1 waitress handling entire dining room did an excellent job. Constantly filling drinks, checking on everyone. There was a long wait for food, kitchen was slow/overwhelmed with crowd but waitress keep us occupied and gave us a sample dessert at end of meal to make up for wait. Food was worth the wait - excellent, and served hot.
You accepted and confirmed a reservation for a restaurant that was closed
Went to Rafael's on a date with my husband. We enjoyed the apple and goat cheese fritter that was very good but my tuna was ok. It was supposed to be seared ahi tuna but it was closer to medium rare. The amount of tuna was generous. My husband got the crab cakes and said they were very good, more crab then fill. Enjoyed the deck in the back.
Nice restaurant, the food was overall very good. The service was sufficient. It would have been nice if we could have been seated away from the bar with our 80 year old parents. The young hostess didn't seem to concerned that we were unhappy. Mondays are a great night to visit as meals are 1/2 price and discounted bottles of wine. Over all a good place and a great value.
A great experience! This is the third time my girlfriend and I have dined at Rafael's. Each time, the dining experience has been outstanding. The food is some of the best I have eaten in this area.
Why didn't they serve us bread with our pasta meals?
The food was outstanding and delicious.
We've been to Rafaels before and like their food. We also have used Opentable to make reservations at this place. For whatever reason our reservation did not make it into the book. The hostess was no help and did not seem to care that there might be an error. I made the reservation on 2/11 for 2/14. So there's no reason why we could not get a table. We stood for 25 minutes with hopes that a table would open but that did not happen. We know that the service can be a bit dicy, but after this last time, we will look elsewhere.
I reserved for a large group a week before, and I was initially worried about accommodating everyone, especially on Valentine's weekend, but they were very helpful! I even had to call the day of and add a few more seats, making it 15, and it went smoothly! The guests were able to be seated a little early, as it was a surprise dinner. The food and drinks were delicious and everyone had a great time. Many thanks!
Good place to go in weekends or a date night. Food is a little over priced and isn't really all that special. Inside dinning rooms could use a remodel or some updating
Great Deal!!! We went on Monday at 5:40. We got half price appetizers for happy hour (before 6:00) and then half price entrees after 6:00.
Our food was below average. Service exceptional. Band playing was great. Coffee drink was great. Wine list well below average. (pinot grigio was warm as well). I really like the location and that is a small town restaurant. Just cant recommend. Bill was 110 w tip for 2 kids meals, appetizer, make it your way burger and 2 petit 4 pz filets ($24), 1 wine, 1 coffee drink and 1 canoli. Much better around... Try OLordans, Papa Joes, Artisan Wine Co or even the Stable!
Always a great experience at Rafs. Food and service was great!
There were six adults attending our annual New Year's dinner. Reservations were fine and we were seated in a timely fashion. Drinks were brought quickly. It went downhill after that, as far as service and menu choices. We discussed orders with our server: Three of us asked for the sea bass. One individual ordered a rib eye. One wanted the Seafood Alfredo. Finally, one chose filet and crab. She came back within a couple of minutes to say no sea bass. Other orders were substituted. Then she came back again...no rib eye. A substitute was offered. One change was to an order of Seafood Alfredo. Overall, the food was good; however, one order of Seafood Alfredo was mixed up and not done. The lady had to wait another 20 minutes for her meal. We've been to Rafael's several times for New Years and on other occasions. Our experience in the past has been better. It's hard to fathom why the food ran out and took so long with just 3 tables ordering. Having reservations ahead of time one would expect better preparation. There is no excuse to run out of any food items with your limited menu...very disappointing!
