Radius Ratings and Reviews
The menu selection is okay, not great. The prices though aren't aligned with the quality of the food, it's way overpriced. The average price of an appetizer is $15 and my pork cop cost $28, a more appropriate price would have been $22. The person I was with ordered the Black Cod, she said it smelled bad. We told the server, he brought the manager and she actually took it off the bill, I have to give her a great deal of credit, she did the right thing.
The young server whose name was cage, did an excellent job, he was attentive, helpful and didn't pester us to order.
I feel this restaurant hasn't achieved it's potential, but they are getting quite close.
There were a few hiccups with the kitchen but the manager was on top of it and rectified the errors. My only complaint about the service was that I made the reservation and was hosting this dinner and the server gave the cheque to the gentleman at the table after I requested that the cheque be given to me.
My partner and I went to Radius to meet with another couple. My partner has a disability and I'm a large person. The regular seats in the dining area are not ideal but there is a half cushioned bench, half set of two seats that were ideal and we were promptly moved.
Our server was phenomenal from the get go. Enthusiastic without being saccharine; knowledgeable but a good listener. Drinks were great (the G and T and strawberry shortcake martini were both delicious; craft beer selection was a little blah.)
Our friends arrived and we ordered appetizers and drinks. Drinks came promptly. Without realizing it, an hour and a half went by and our server apologized and brought our appetizers, telling us that we wouldn't have to pay. The manager also came by to apologize. Dinner (fish entree, salad with steak, the pork chop) was another hour. At this point, I noticed people who came in after us being already with dinner. When it did arrive, fish and salad were perfect; pork chop, although freaking delicious, was quite overdone. Pork chop was quickly comped and again, the manager came over. At this point, I suspected an issue in the kitchen. When I inquired, I was told that the head chefs had to be away for the evening. As it was Supercrawl weekend, I began to understand the manager's frustration that meals, etc. were not moving along swimmingly. Near the end of dinner, a new set of cutlery came out with the promise of an after dinner treat!
WOW! An entire tray of delicious desserts arrived, stuffing us further. Our server was engaged with us the entire evening and truly happy when we said that although the experience wasn't as expected, the food was great, as was the accommodation for the disasters happening backstage.
So, I mean, what else to say. Food was great, evening was great and..mostly importantly, when things don't go well, as they just do sometimes, it appears to be Radius' primary goal to make things right. That's my kind of resto. A thousand gold stars.
Went to Radius for a 'Girls Night out' and 3 of the 5 people in our group had never been before and I recommended as a 'must try'! Did not disappoint....the entire meal was fantastic!! The dessert (although we really did not have any room for it!) was a work of art!! and delicious!
The service, food and drink was perfect...could not have asked for a better night out to start the long weekend, enjoy the atmosphere and get spoiled. And even though the restaurant seemed to get busier as the night got later, we all still felt very comfortable, welcomed and not rushed to leave. We will be visiting again in the near future!
We ate at Radius for Sunday brunch and were very happy with both the quality of food and the service. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a variety of menu items and no one in our party was disappointed. The ambiance of this restaurant in the early afternoon was also quite pleasant. The decor was warm with lots of warm barn board accents and exposed brick. This restaurant is located in an up and coming spot of Hamilton... we will definitely return!
The waitstaff are very rude especially if you point out you are still waiting for apps after 30min. My friend was served a burger she thought was hers and started eating the fries. The waitress came back and took the burger away saying she got the wrong table. She then put the same plate and gave it to another guest. We called her back to our table and told her my friend had started eating from it already and she only said "oops my mistake". She didn't even tell the guy she just let him keep eating food that a total stranger had already touched
My duck was barley cooked. I mentioned it to the server and she said that's the way they serve duck. I have had the exact same duck from radius on a different occasion and it was definetly not that rare. They offered to put it back on the grill for me but by that point we were all so turned off from eating the food.
When our bill came the manager took off the apps. We were treated so poorly for complaining that this didn't make up for it.
The restaurant looks very nice and it is decorated with a bit of a retro reclaimed look. We arrived and the restaurant was not busy but waited 14 minutes for someone to come by and take our drink order. Our table was against the wall by the front window. The ledge by the table had pieces of food on it and in the corner it looked like it had not been cleaned in quite some time. I ordered the pasta special with chicken. The dish lacked flavor was cold and the chicken was hard and cold. My wife ordered the Steak and Frites and this too was just okay. Maybe we hit it on a bad night. However, in my opinion I would not recommend this place and there are many more better options in the area.
This was legit, one of the best dinner experiences I have ever had. It wasn't just dinner- it was an overall experience. Met my sister-in law and we were both impressed. With the service ( our waitress was a bubbly blonde- she was amazing felt like family), with the food (NEXT LEVEL), and the ambiance. Took a basic fry to the next level -with a garlic twist. Had the tuna/avocado special app, and it was the best thing I have ever tasted. This coming from a huge sushi and seafood person; tuna was fresh, spices and taste was perfection. I had the cod for dinner and it was cooked perfectly- rice was an amazing touch as well. The night got louder and it became a very busy and almost "club" ish vibe- was a little loud for conversation around 830 but still enjoyed ourselves.
Will be coming back OFTEN
For the longest time, I was not able to get a reservation to this restaurant on Open Table for a Saturday. Finally, I was able to book 3 weeks' in advance for a Sunday dinner.
Liked the place. We were able to get a patio seating (altho lower level as the top one was closed) and since the weather gods were kind, enjoyed the patio seating with a gentle breeze blowing and the live music being played by two cute guys.
We started off with cocktails and it appeared that the barman was on a Sunday mood, so he forgot the pineapple wedge\lime wedge in my drink. But the drinks were still awesome.
We had the Gnocchi and the Goat Cheese Rolls for our starters and both were good, although the Gnocchi, I felt was over-priced for the quantity that was dished out.
For our mains we had the Stuffed Chicken and Lamb Saddle (prepared sous vide). Both were quite nice. The chicken was crisp on the outside and very tender on the inside.
For the dessert we ordered the Crème Brulee which we were told had Jamieson whisky and ginger, but it did not taste of either. However, it was still quite good.
The entrees seem very small compared to the prices charged and if you have a big appetite, you may not be happy just having the entrée. So suggest having appetizers as well..
It was tad quiet on the Sunday and we would love to go back on a Saturday, when I think it gets very lively, although parking might be a hassle with quite a few restaurants\bars on Augusta street...
Wow!! What a lovely place. We sat on the patio and it was absolutely beautiful! The food was delicious and great value for the price, the waitress we had was so sweet and attentive, and the overall dining experience was supreme. I am planning on coming back again very soon. Would recommend this place to anyone. Check it out!
Very delicious prepared food with fresh local produce and atomosphere very comfortable with great service, yes I would recommend for special occasions but not for family it is very overpriced and portions don't balance the amount you paying. for two of us $110.00 and we had a gift voucher but if you like for something alittle different and with an experience of taste this place is for you.
Fabulous outdoor seating, excellent service (thank you Gage!) and tasty food, but some of the portions were really small. We shared a number of appetizers. All were tasty (sweet potato gnocchi, short ribs, goat cheese egg rolls, KFC cauliflower) but for the price I expected more than 3 1/2 cauliflower florets, and less than a dozen pieces of gnocchi. On the other hand, salad was tasty and generous! I will be back but will be judicious with my ordering.
Putting cherry tomatoes and round cheese on a crostini is never a good idea, how are they to stay put when you attempt to eat them? Most ended up in my lap.
The lamb entree was plated in such a way we couldn't tell if it was a version of Stonehenge or just extremely phalic (what was chef thinking about?).
The food no longer seems well prepared or executed. Over cooked (I had the stuffed chicken breast), weird combinations, even more weird plating and general food lethargy. For the price - not abundant, filling or fulfilling....
The Food was delicious. They have an outside area which is enclosed by a fence. Enjoy our evening in the sunshine. Worth the trip... but be prepared to be a bit shock for the prices. Coming from USA- the prices where a bit higher than expected.
Oh Well! This was a girls weekend trip.. Staff was very nice.
If I return- I will definitely eat here again.
Great experience from start to finish. Phenomenal dishes bursting with flavour in every bite. Great thought and impressive curation of ingredients in each menu option. Martha's care and service was beyond expectations - knowledgeable, humorous and attentive. Can't wait to come back.
Once the rock 'n roll/heavy metal music was turned down, we were able to relax. But at 6 pm, some nice jazz music would have been more fitting . The Radius ad speaks about serving local produce. However, there were no interesting menu items with local strawberries, cherries, rhubarb, or fresh peas, asparagus etc. I did enjoy the beet salad, but beets are not in season. My husband had a very bland potato/leek soup of the day, but did enjoy a beautiful plate of spring lamb. Dessert was Tarte Tatin but it wasn't really an apple tart at all. It was mostly a cake with a trace of apples. Again, something strawberry, or maybe cherries clafouti would have been great. Service was excellent, wine list good.
