Racks Downtown Eatery + Tavern Ratings and Reviews
We chose this restaurant mistakenly due to the pictures posted under OT menus for this rest.. Unfortunately most of those photos were discontinued and unavailable. Chicken pot pie, roared chicken. What we wound up with was not on our wish list, but the mgr. was nice so we stayed rather than leave. Service friendly...this is a gastropub. Unlike Creole style on Atlantic ave.
The food and service were quite nice as was the wine. Our server was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive. Unfortunately sitting outside was a mistake. We sat in what appeared to be an alleyway and the volume of people passing through made our meal less than comfortable. A barrier or separation between the outdoor tables and the pedestrians would improve this area.
We chose to go here after reading the reviews.
It was a quiet Sunday late afternoon.
Our experience was nothing great. We were seated outdoors which we requested. The cushions on the bench side need to be fluffed up. We couldn't reach the table. There were 2 guests with their dogs which barked at other dogs and people as they walked by
Food was OK- a bit pricey for what was served. They have a Happy Hour daily. Might try it again JUST for Happy Hour
We arrived just as Happy Hour was closing and the place was packed. Initially, we were concerned at the speed of service but as soon as the Happy Hour guests began to leave, the bar caught up and the rest of our service experience was great. The food was good, with all bases covered to keep a family of 5 satisfied. We had a good family night out and will be back.
Racks was an excellent choice for our daughter's birthday dinner. The manager, J.K., came over to our table to make sure that all was good. Everybody's dinner came out perfect and delicious. I recommend the filet mignon. It was grass fed and cooked to perfection. My husband really loved the ice cream sandwich dessert. My husband even met Gary Rack, the owner, and found him to be quite a gentleman. We will be back
My wife found this gem a few months ago for a ladies night when we moved here, and we eat here 2-3 times a month, we love the eclectic setting with the ropes for chandeliers. Complimentary drinks for ladies on Thursday’s? Great date night.... Service is always on point and friendly. Not a serious setting, very casual experience for a midweek dinner or happy hour. They had just changed the menu when we found the place, so it was nice, felt like a fresh start or a new restaurant. Lunch is nice and quiet with a sushi selection and a few sandwiches. Dinner is a nice dimly lit ambiance with a quiet crowd, but an amazing steak selection. Being a meat eater I must say the price for quality is worth the $$. My wife loves the wonton soup, all their sushi. It’s hard to find a good place with sushi, but I was here with clients and sat at the sushi bar for lunch and got to watch the chef prepare the fish for the day. Nothing frozen. Oysters, hamachi, tuna, salmon you name it. I was grilling the sushi chef Matt the entire time. All in all, a fantastic establishment that seems to be very well run by men in white shirts and black ties. Always checking to make sure we are enjoying ourselves. It is a must for the South Florida visitor.
I received an email from OpenTable indicating that I did not honor my reservation. I did honor my reservation and had dinner at racks as reserved and have a receipt in order to verify that fact. When I received notice that I didn't honor my reservation your app did not allow me the opportunity to set the record straight. It is to be noted that I did check in under the name given for the reservation and I am very confused as to why this is happening
I would like my account to be straightened out and the points which I earned to be applied. This is the second time that I have had this problem with Racks.
Overall the restaurant is really beautiful, comfortable and nicely laid out. The bar has a warm feeling and the restaurant is lively which is great. There is definitely good structure within the brand and a nice culinary representation. The service was great and the food was perfect!
Outstanding quality of their food is ever present. The trout almondine is always amazing, and even the matzo ball soup was incredible. Considering the varied types of food that you can get at this restaurant, steak, seafood, Pizza, sushi hamburgers, French onion soup, it's quite fascinating that they do each of these items wonderfully. Enjoy!
Have had lunch here with my husband very regularly and have always enjoyed. Dined this past Sunday evening (group of 5) prior to concert at Mizner. Unfortunately, the portions were undersized, and the wait staff was understaffed and overwhelmed. Too much stress in what should have been a seamless evening. Would not return for a pre-concert event.
The staff is totally unprofessional and does not understand customer service or how to tell the truth.
We called the restaurant at 9:50 pm to make sure that it was going to be serving at 10:00 pm which the hostess on the phone confirmed and told us to come over.
We arrived and the hostess acted as if she didn't answer the call. The manager came out to talk to us and tried to explain that the kitchen was closed and tried to tell us that we were confused about the restaurant hours. The manager offered us a free appetizer for our troubles after we drove over and paid for parking. Total amateur handling of the situation. We eat at Racks all the time and really enjoy the food but I am not sure I can go back after being treated so poorly.
Never call your customer a liar and make sure the customer leaves happy no matter what.
