Executive Chef Diego Moya's menu can neither be described as particularly French, nor particularly American. Here there is a strong focus on being vegetable forward, and working with local and sustainable farms, ranches, and fisheries. Featuring about a dozen small plates, a handful of entrées for one and a couple for two, Racines NY offers a flexible dining experience. Guests are strongly encouraged to order “pour la table,” but more than welcome to order individually à la carte.
Organic, biodynamic, natural vinifications, and small estates. These are the hallmarks of the Wine List, 2800 bottles deep, which is French-centric but global, curated by Arnaud Tronche and Master Sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier. Over 20 selections by-the-glass doesn’t hurt either.

The heirloom tomatoes in nduja dressing with padron peppers were the epitome of summer. Don't miss the coconut sorbet either; it's refreshing while creamy, fruity, and full of toasty flavors. Everything was delicious and some things were sublime. It's an evening of special food that doesn't feel stuffy or pretentious.
Another impressive dining adventure at Racines! Everything was delicious and on point. I loved the lentils with creme fraiche as well as the cured fluke. The fig panna cotta with a strawberry gelee' was the perfect end to the meal. Ingredients are all fresh and high quality, with clean flavors layered in each dish. Wine is a focal point at Racines, with an impressive selection at all price points; never sacrificing quality. Service was friendly and attentive as usual.
The lentil starter dish was very bad. The creme fresh destroys the dish
Good food and outstanding wine list. Very good service and comfortable ambiance
An interesting new starter: Green tomatoes with interesting accompaniments. Always the duck. Wines by the glass too cold initially, both red and white. Great server.
In a city full of great restaurants, Racine's stands out as a unique dining experience that always satisfies. Tonight's dinner was exceptional. I asked for a tasting menu with wine pairings. Chef Diego Moya and his team put together one delicious course after another. Chef Moya is a wizard at plant based cooking, which really elevates every component of a dish. The special Rhode Island squid, flash fried, and dressed with a vinaigrette of raw habanada peppers, white soy and shallot provided rich flavors in every bite. The sauce itself with Racine's housemade bread could have been a meal in itself. Duck is a staple here and it was perfectly grilled with a rich sauce of dried orange and Earl Grey tea. The wine list is a triumph, carefully curated by partners Arnaud Tronche and Master Sommelier Pascaline Lepeltier. Natural, organic wines are featured, and they pair well with each dish. Service was crisp, knowledgeable, yet friendly. Racines is a gem, and I can't wait to return!
Very helpful staff with their extensive wine list
We went to Racines because of their wine list; and wasn’t disappointed. Very strong on French Wines; especially Loire and Burgundy. Food was very good; a bit on the salty side.
Always a fabulous meal and one of the best wine lists in the city. Great place.
While the food was exquisite and the service good (bordering on excessive---I didn't need my napkin refolded when I went to the rest room), I'm not happy when I leave a restaurant hungry, and that was the case here. We ordered the starter of green tomatoes, which was lovely. At the encouragement of the waiter) we shared one entree, and one of the more reasonably priced ($60) bottles of wine. We planned to order two entrees, but the waiter recommended a pork dish, and said if we got the $52-for-two (rather than the $44 single) portion, it would be plenty. I can't imagine how much smaller the $42 single portion could have been. The $52 size was 8 small squares of pork cut from the bone (which I gnawed at afterward, since I was still hungry). He said the starters were intended to serve as accompaniments as well, as the entrees didn't come with anything, so we ordered the leeks to go with the entree, which were delicious, but were basically six small strips of shredded leeks. And 3 slices (3? couldn't even manage 2 apiece?) of very good bread. Nothing else, they couldn't even throw some rice on the plate as a filler, and all that service, but no asking if we'd like more bread. I was so disgusted that I didn't bother asking for more bread. And I wasn't going to pay $10+ for a dessert that I suspected would have been perhaps 2 bites of food. So, close to $190 for dinner and I went home hungry.
Racines was excellent! My husband and I sat at a table in the window and we loved our table. The server was friendly, knowledgeable about the food and wine and seemed passionate about his work. The food was outstanding, best duck I have ever eaten! The coconut sorbet for dessert with fig leaf was sweet and delicious. The wines by the glass were poured at the table and it felt that the staff knew about each wine in detail, so impressive, I would definitely recommend Racines!
Server was amazing and a fun “tasting” of wines offered by the glass as pairings with most of the starters and a few entrees. Melon, Leeks, Lentils were all favorites - as was the duck and strip.
Absolutlely phenomenal as always. I adore Racine’s. Food and service is spot on. Friendly and humble, the menu/wine list speaks for itself.
Had a truly delicious and fun meal here! Service was great and food was creative and yummy. Our waiter was friendly and had great suggestions and the sommelier was knowledgeable and recommended wines that paired perfectly with our meal.
C'ero stato un anno fa: completamente cambiato in peggio. Lo chef è cambiato 2 volte. Di francese solo il vino. Piatti anonimi mal cucinati e banalotti
Excellent. Wine was unbelievable. It is casual with a nice splash of fancy. Cheese and wine was off the hook. Steak was perfect.
Tucked away on a largely commercial block, Racine NY was a treasure. The food was delicious, the staff were exactly on point, and the sommelier is a star.
Almost perfect, amazing service, just don’t take Rigatoni, too much pasta and not as refined than the rest
What an absolutely perfect meal! Incredible wine list with absolutely no pretentiousness- we were guided along a journey that suited our palettes and food selections beautifully. I shall remember this meal for the food and wine with vivid memory. Thank you Racines.
Delicious and inventive menu. Friendly and professional staff. The wine list is extensive and filled with wonderful gems. The wine team is extremely knowledgeable and always spot on with suggestions! Looking forward to returning soon.
Amazing experience in an amazing restaurant served by an amazing team.
The food is delicious, and the wine list is beyond your dream, suitable for everyone.
Thank you for this great time, I hope I’ll be able to come back as soon as I get back to NYC.
Love chef Diego Moya!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Food and service was exceptional!!!!!! Lovveeeee itt!!!!
Went to Racines NY for our anniversary... fresh, clean and delicious food.
The food is simply too poor to justify visiting this restaurant. Great wine list but without edible food it’s a no go.
Did you speak to management?
I decided to revise my comments -- Racines responded to my comments and I agreed that sommelier did not try to sell me the most "profitable" wine . So, I upgraded it to 5 stars!!!!
As usual, the food was great and service was nice (as a bistro). Had I not found out about their wine-markup, I would have given them 5 stars. Anyway, the sommelier recommended a 2016 Planquette Vin De France for our meal when I told them anything about $100/bottle is ok. We felt special when she told us that the wine was not even on their wine list (and the wine was indeed wonderful). However, I found out later the wine is only $20 a bottle in the store. They charged me $85!
I know restaurants usually charge 2 or 3 times of the wine cost at a store. So, if they had charged me $60, I would still be ok. But they charged $85 for a $20 wine - it is more than 4 times. I think the markup was too steep and I feel taken - maybe because the wine was not on the wine list, the restaurant/sommelier thinks she can charge whatever they can get away with.
I would still come back and recommend my friends to come, but I would warn all my friends about their wine-price practices, especially for those wines not on their wine list. By the way, they stop doing tasting menus now
We cannot speak to the pricing at Chambers Street Wines--an absolute steal for this wine, unavailable elsewhere. We are sorry you subsequently felt taken, and appreciate the 4-star review nonetheless. The sommelier did not hesitate to sell you an excellent bottle of wine well under your preferred price, nor push you over it. We hope this is illustrative that we are not here to take advantage of anyone. We have more thoughts to share if you could please e-mail us so we can reply with more info!
The fluke starter was a wonderful surprise. A must if one appreciates fresh fish. Overall, a pleasant dinner.
Racines is a neighbourhood gem with excellent food and an exceptional wine list curated by their in-house Master Sommelier. Hundreds of great wines at a fraction of the price of most NY restaurants. We happily spend multiple nights a week—sometimes at the bar, and others in the restaurant—at this amazing restaurant.
Highly recommend the lentils with roe and the figs appetizers.
Excellent food, wine list and service. We had several of the appetizers; fluke, food grad sofrito, lentils, fried artichokes, steak tartare. All prepared in a unique and delicious way. Tapas sized. We had fish and filet mignon for main course. Prepared perfectly. We’ve been here several times and always love it.
the latest chef is as good or better than his predecessors. The duck, with skin that had been crisped on their new charcoal grill, was one of the best duck dishes I have ever had
We had an all-around great experience, from the attentive but not obsequious waitstaff, deep wine list and of course excellent food. The grilled figs were a highlight, sweet juicy and smoky. My duck with dried orange rub was the exact right doneness. I’ll be back for certain.
Simple with amazing flavors. You don’t much of that in the city. Kuddos to chef Diego and the team.
Very impressed with everything from the service to the food. We can’t wait to return.
Great with the new chef in place! Still has one of the best wine lists in town.
Creative and delicious food along with a great wine list and awesome service. Can’t go wrong!
Racine's has always been a destination restaurant for its wine list, but the kitchen had been through a rough patch for the last couple of years: very short menu, excruciatingly tiny portions and sometimes borderline bizarre combinations of flavors or handling of the main ingredients. Frédéric Duca's attention seemed to wander well before he finally returned to France (where e seems to have bounced back) and Eric Korsh was a bust even without the allegations of misconduct (we caught him shortly after he came on board, flaunting himself for the benefit of a table of attentive women, basking in his own self-regard instead of actually cooking. Needless to say, our meal felt very much of a piece with that). So--very happy to report Diego Moya has everything back on track, as good as it's ever been if not better.
Amazing wine list and creative cuisine.
Helpful and friendly service!
