Birthday breakfast at Hotel Chocolat ,absolutely delicious food, good service lovely start to the day .
Great food, service and friendly attentive staff. I enjoyed it so much, I'm taking a friend for brunch next week. Just hoping for the same fabulous experience.
Really good service and attention from staff. Love the chocolate shops and now love the restaurant. Will be back!
We enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent, hopefully we will come back in the future.
Well worth the journey down from Lincolnshire for an evening out with friends from the U.S
Wonderful food and great service. We will be back!
Great food & drinks. Lovely decor. Side dishes are not part of the set menu so had to pay more for these.
This was a birthday treat for my chocolate-loving (adult) daughter. She chose the venue which was very enjoyable. An occasion when the food was even better than it looks on the website and the service was very friendly and efficient. An excellent finale to a day out in London!
Birthday treat for a friend
Excellent food, better even than at hotel chocolate in St Lucia. Menu very good lots of choice. Probably would be even better in summer outside on balcony. I will come back
Was a great place, friendly staff ... food was amazing
I'm not a dark chocolate fan so this was always going to be a risk for me. My partner (who does love dark) loved it. I had the salmon starter and vegetarian trilogy and found the curry flavour hard to taste and expected more umami from the mushrooms. The wellington was nice. Service and presentation were excellent and the chocolate "birthday cake platter" was a nice touch (it was his birthday). Portion sizes were about right for us to have all three courses without feeling blown out and the Merlot was tasty. It's expensive but the dishes are intricate so that is understandable. I'd recommend to a dark chocolate lover.
Amazing atmosphere, great service and delicious food. It is must try! Really easy to book via open and table and the staff are really accommodating. Do it. Treat yourself!
Didn’t think much of the hot choc./coffee bar downstairs, in fact, having booked a celebratory Meal upstairs I was afraid the restaurant would be like the cafe, but it really wasn’t. We had a really lovely meal with great service. Liked the way they all the veg./bread/ meat etc came from the market too.
Dined at Rabot 1745 a few years ago. Therefore, most interested in a return visit.
Positives? Intriguing menu. Good location. Friendly, attentive staff. Negatives? Sorry, but the food was something of a "Curate's Egg": good in parts. My starter just didn't work. The beef was ok, up to a point - but the mash and Yorkshire pudding really didn't hang together. Mash tasted very strange, and overall the dish needed more gravy/sauce. The seafood bouillabaisse was extremely tasty. I would probably have done it justice, had I not gone for the "roast beef" starter. My wife's two courses were distinctly non-descript. Her seafood beignet seemed seriously deficient in the fish element; the main course burger was uninspiring. Difficult to tell whether my fellow-diners enjoyed things: an element of politeness was evident. However, there was a starter item, which purported to be a "soup" which was candidly a disgrace from every standpoint: there was little more than a thimble-full of soup - appalling!
I will not be revisting again - probably, ever.
Really bad food. Did not care about how I felt. I said that the desert was off and they said I was lying. I then made them try it to which they couldn’t stand the taste either.
Staff are always helpful and polite and will give recommendations for food and drinks. We had the 2 course set menu which was outstanding. The Herefordshire Beef was beautiful and it melted in the mouth. The cocktails are excellent and taste very good. Only downside is it can get little more expensive with a couple of drinks and any side orders you want for your main as the they come only as described on the menu however the saying goes 'You get what you pay for' and I think for London/Borough Market the price is to be expected.
Overall though we love this restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone.
The food was delicious - with innovative hints in cocoa in the recipes... a lovely experience! Even cocoa chai which was spicy but nice. Pop in and check it out! The lamb was yummy.
Food is amazing, service was great. There was building work going on whilst we were there but didn't bother us too much.
My wife and I have wanted to come to this restaurant for a long time, so we had great expectations before we arrived. Our experience did not disappoint, everything was wonderful.
Some excellent dishes let down by some rather large variations in portion size that left me a decent sized main course whilst my dining partner stretched out a lamb main course that whilst well prepared, would have been slightly on the small size for a starter - two 50p sized medallions of lamb placed 'just so' on a large plate. We also struggled to make the connection between the flavours in our meal, and the cocoa plantation theme we thought was integral. Service was fine with friendly enough staff. All in all, no major problems and a perfectly pleasant evening had, but nothing special for the price.
Unusual food but excellent. Service good, cocktails fun. Recommended.
Great food but the lamb portions were tiny especially when compared to the beef dish I had! Looked like you were running out of lamb and were trying to eek it out!
Nice atmosphere, food good although starters was luke warm.
Everything was good other than my pancakes were cold...
Great combination of flavors! not overpowering chocolate, but a touch of cocoa to each dish worked amazingly. really nice atmosphere and great selection of drinks
Excellent service, quick and attentive. Quiet time of year for dining so atmosphere was quieter than usual. Superb lamb main course, so good it would have been a sin to use the sauce with the meat! Cocktails as good as ever and the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine was very good, even at the restaurant mark up. Great for a special occasion.
Food was excellent. Service - with one exception - was poor. The restaurant was not busy - maybe 3 other tables in use, and enough staff, but we were left too long before our order was taken, drinks arrived after we had finished our starters & a side order was missed from the order, so arrived (after we had asked where it was twice) after the mains were almost finished. Tea was hot water in a cup with a saucer over it & a tea bag - rather than in a pot. A nice treat, but allow extra time if you have another engagement, or need to be finished by a certain time.
This was a great experience for us all, food was very good with an intersting twist with connection Hotel Chocolate. we had all been to Hotel Chocolate as St. Lucia and it was like comming back. We enjoyed the experience very much.
The resturant was very nice and the noise level was also very good making it easy to have a good conversation among friend. Waiter was very friendly and had very good knowledge of the food and wines.
If you want a quiet spot away from the London hustle and bustle, come here and eat when Borough market is closed. Great food, attentive server, and naturally very exciting dishes with chocolate in all forms!
Excellent although limited choice of dishes for each course, but we were a party of 6 and tried almost everything between us, and found everything delicious. One slight reservation was that the so-called 'chocolate mousse' dessert was in fact extremely solid, and although delicious was actually a very heavy dessert which some of us would have avoided had this been clearer.
All in all however an excellent evening with unusual and delicious food, and friendly service
Awesome food, great level of service - mentioned was my dad's bday so they brought out b'day plate with chocolates etc, lovely touch :-)
Rabot's never disappoints. Food and service was 5 star but you have to be a chocolate lover :)
Food was amazing, staff were great but service was a little slow... unfortunately we were seated next to a loud office “do” which was annoying but not the fault of the staff or restaurant... definitely come for the food, try and avoid party time 🥳
excellent service & amazing food - will definitely be going back!
A unique place in borough market with a really interesting use of chocolate. You have to try it
Unusual menu, tasty food and really friendly service! I’ll be going back!
Unfortunately I could not see how the chocolate did anything to enhance the meal. Before tasting the dish I was happy to pay the prices in anticipation of discovering a great new pairing of savoury food with chocolate.. but it didn't come to pass. The dishes themselves are good in their own right but I would pay less for them if the novelty of incorporating chocolate doesn't make a difference.
My favourite restaurant in town! Been many times and we normally celebrate big occasions here with my husband. The food is amazing; fresh ingredients and very well prepared, the staff is incredibly attentive and the ambiance is great, too. Special thanks to Justyna for making our Christmas celebration great on Saturday! We will be back soon again. Top tip: the white chocolate mash is to die for! (I know what it sounds like, but just try it. )
Another amazing night at Rabot
Very good, however disappointed that veg was not includedu in set menu
