RA Sushi Bar Restaurant - Torrance Ratings and Reviews
The South Bay needs more restaurants where the people making your food actually care. We absolutely love coming here and sitting at the Sushi Bar so we can watch our sushi chef make our masterfully creative dishes.
Good food. Decent pricing. Happy people. Why wouldn’t you want to go?
We have been regulars at this restaurant ever since it existed; we went here for a Christmas meal a few years ago and it was a disaster; there was one server responsible for the entire patio and the kitchen was also understaffed and slow. However, this is years later and clearly the restaurant/ management understands that there actually is a demand for this restaurant during the holidays. This was the first time we returned to have a meal here on Christmas afternoon and everything went much better. We had a reservation and the restaurant sat us right away and the place was clearly staffed to an appropriate level and all of our selections came out in a timely manner and the service was great. I am glad that we can continue to frequent this location, even on Christmas afternoon and still have a good time. (They also brought back the paper ordering sheets- Yay! Ra seems to be going back to their old ways- first the shishito pepper and now this, which is awesome).
This is one of my favorite restaurants and normally everything is great. My server on this occasion was not very attentive. I was seated 10 minutes before happy hour ended and she returned to the table every 10 minutes or so. I felt like she was purposely waiting until happy hour was over to take my order. I didn't feel like paying full price for entrees so I only ordered an appetizer. She honored the happy hour price for that. After 20 minutes we asked for the bill since we had to catch a movie. Maybe she didn't hear that but she returned a full 7 minutes later to take my payment.
I've dine at this restaurant twice. Although the waiters are cute, they are extremely forgetful. "Good looking people, but not much going on upstairs", I hate to say. Don't know the menu well. Our waiter brought us our dinner, but forgot to bring out the miso soup. Didn't bring it to us until I asked him, "Excuse me! Doesn't this two dinners come with a miso soup?" To which he reply, "I don't know. Let me check with my manager!" He might have been new. I don't know.
I went to RA to celebrate my birthday with a large group on a Friday night. We were seated right away and were attended to with prompt and courteous service. Our waiter was attentive and professional. The supervisor greeted us before the end of the night and wished me a happy birthday. I could not have picked a better location to celebrate my birthday.
We were served by Gabriel, who was courteous and very knowledgeable about the menu. The Asian food selection along with the sushi was excellent. I had the Seared Tuna Salad, which was excellent. The seared tuna was fresh as well as the vegetables. Wasabi and ginger were side condiments. The surprise birthday dessert of Tempura Ice Cream was a decadent treat and closure to fine night of celebration and dinning pleasure.
I have been here before but for some reason tonight was very different. There was nothing special about our experience. The server did everything right but i felt like just enough to get by. She was not very personable and it didn't really seem like she cared about doing any more than she needed to.
Manager on duty was also odd for some reason. He dropped our food off at the table and didn't even ask how we were doing or if we needed anything. i found that a little off because as a manager i feel like anytime you get a chance to check-in with a table you should try and make a connection or make sure they are okay. I am in the restaurant industry myself, which is why I feel strongly about my opinion.
Great food though.
Came here for my daughter's 4th birthday because she wanted sushi for her birthday. We picked RA because we liked the one we visited in Atlanta and knew the food would be good. This was our first time at the new location at Del Amo. This restaurant is awesome. It has a trendy vibe but the staff was very attentive to all of our needs. They even knew exactly what we needed before we asked for it! I had mentioned in our reservation that we had a guest in crutches and they made sure our group was seated at a large booth that was comfortable for everyone. I would revisit RA on a mom/dad date night out without our daughter. And, I wouldn't hesitate to come back with our daughter for a family dinner before a movie. The food was delicious. I highly recommend their chili yellowtail roll. We ordered a lot of hamachi and salmon nigiri and it was fresh and tasty.
I can't remember our server's name off hand but he was very helpful. I really like this place. I'm glad we tried it.
I went here for dinner. I love sushi and thought RA Sushi would be a great place to try. I tried some new rolls: the mango lobster roll(washbi on the side) and the Rainbow roll. They were both delicious and I would order it again. Will definitely come back and try some more sushi.
Good: Drinks were good and reasonably priced.
Not-so-Good: So-so fusion cuisine; overpriced. The music was loud and the tables longer than one would expect, making it difficult to talk at an intimate volume.
Cardinal Sin: We literally did not go more than five minutes without being pestered by the staff. The manager visited our table four times (we gave no reason to do so). Our waitress, ten.
Let your customers dine in peace!
I really enjoyed coming to Ra Sushi for lunch! I've missed having a Ra Sushi around (used to live much closer to one when I was in AZ), and it just so happened that I was down in Torrance from LA for work that day. Celebrated my half birthday (LOVE that Ra does half birthdays--brilliant!) with a nice, quiet lunch. The Chirashi Bowl was really yummy & suuuper filling, even without eating the giant bowl of rice. I'd say the Scallops Dynamite was eh, alright--will try something else next time. Service was excellent! I can't remember his name, but the one bartender/server they have for lunch is super nice, prompt, and courteous. Thank you for a wonderful half birthday lunch!!
