RA Sushi Bar Restaurant - South Miami Ratings and Reviews
Food much better and cheaper than expected.
Went on a Tuesday night..in the rain. So the restaurant was uncharacteristically empty. Nonetheless the waitress kept on checking on us... and hurrying us on. She actually cleared our table and brought us our bill before we were ready to leave!
Given that the restaurant was almost empty... I think it would have been good business if she just let us linger. I honestly would have purchased more drinks... I decided not to because she had already closed me out!
Lance was our waiter and he was very very nice. The downside to our experience was that the food and drinks took quite a long time to come out. I ordered the scallop dynamite roll and it took over an hour. The manager apologized and said it was unacceptable and she took it off our bill. They brought it anyway, but for free. It was a good experience overall.
Our server Eddie was amazing - prompt, polite and kind. However the sushi was not well made. Each of our 4 rolls was prepared with too much rice, which makes the delicate ingredients of sushi difficult to discern and enjoy. The fish itself was good - eel, salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. The preparation however made this a bad value for us. We spent $65 for two ppl to have 4 rolls, an app and a small bottle of sake, and feel there is much better value to be found in dining than the food quality at Ra.
It was my son's 21st birthday and we both love sushi...been to the one in Pembroke Pines and thought he would love dinner here. We had a great time sitting on the sidewalk in cinco de mayo. Food and service was great. Will visit again since my son goes to the "U".
RA Sushi South Miami has gone above and beyond to improve their service experience - and offer a larger and very interesting menu. It was a great experience and a gastro delight - and great to have an Asian experience where you can find something for anyone! Start with an Emperor Mango Margarito and take it from there!
If you want to have a group for Sushi this is a great location. They have three kitchen and are able to serve a large group great sushi quickly. We were a party of ten - lots of hungry college boys - and the service on the food was great. The service form the bar not so great as this was all up to the waiter and the bartender.
The restaurant has great energy. Located in the heart of South Miami it is ideally situated. The food and service was terrific and the prices are very reasonable. The only down note was the volume of the music. Even the 20 somethings at my table were distracted. The appetizers are not to be missed
The food at RA is amazing but there's PLENTY of places in Miami with amazing food. I WILL NEVER come back to this restaurant again. The service was horrible, the host was rude and our food took forever. Our server ignored us and rarely checked on us. The staff looked so bored and was hanging around joking and acting unprofessional. The manager ended up being our server because ours never returned. The manager was great but when I asked him about the poor service he gave an excuse instead of apologizing. Don't waste your money! The place looks great but looks can be deceiving!
The area where the restaurant is located is very convenient. There's plenty of parking and it's easy find. The waiter was very nice and attended us quickly. The food was delicious! They also have happy hour deals that are hard to pass up. Overall a great place to go with family, friends, or on a date.
I came for my birthday with adults and children. Although initially we really didn't think of RA as kid friendly, the server Kevin did an awesome job of accommodating everyone including the children. One of the kids bumbed his head on the table and Kevin immediately brought over an ice pack. He was also very knowlageable about the menu. I had the menu open and a friend inquired about a roll. He described it word for word as I was reading it from the menu. The manager (sorry I dont remember her name) came to the table to let us know if we needed anything to let her know. It was and Awsome dinning experience. All the food was amazing, I especially love the giant calamari. I will be back soon!!
it had been a while since we had braved ra on a saturday night, mostly because the transformation to a loud nightclub eclipsed anybody's opportunity to have dinner. the music was low enough to allow conversation, and there was no line weaving out the door -- good start. the menu had changed and, although a bit confusing, offered up a lot of new interesting options and new favorites. when we got the food everyone was pleasantly surprised -- everything was delicious! garlic edamame, crispy onion albacore, viva las vegas roll, spicy yellowtail... all delicious. would totally do it again -- especially during happy hour where thy have some pretty great deals.
Sadly, the service and sushi at this South Miami restaurant are so sub standard that I would never return. Perhaps Sunday is not their best day but waiting 90 minutes for the food to arrive and then receiving the wrong order (and the sushi was not fresh) was truly frustrating.
I just HATE when a place has to nickel and dime to make an extra buck. We missed Happy hour by 20 minutes, and that's ok, but we're already paying twice as much so in perspective -- we asked for extra eel sauce and spicy mayo, and they did not tell us there was a charge, they just brought one extra of each for all 4 diners and charged us $4. Then we asked for more of the Rokin(tm) shrimp sauce and one of the waiters said it's 50 cents, we said forget it--another guy shows up with the sauce, thanks figuring it was gonna be free. Overall our check came to $110, so we were not being cheap - but I HATE a place nickel and dimes like that for a few bucks. We complained profusely, and the waiter did not care - did not remove it from the bill.
Ra Sushi is great if you sit at the outdoor tables. Why in the world they can't figure out that the indoor ambience does not cut it, I don't know. It is ultra noisy with rock music bad lighting and TVs going. They should just replicate sidewalk feel inside and i would come even when it's too sticky and buggy in the summer.
