RA Sushi Bar Restaurant - Scottsdale Old Town Ratings and Reviews
Poor service! I ordered a vegetable gyoza to start and it took a good 20 minutes to get it. I made sure to emphasize I want the vegetable gyoza NOT the pork gyoza since I'm a vegetarian. She said ok. After the long wait she brought it out and it was a pork gyoza. I tried to get the attention of the staff. I waved, called out, and several just looked at me and walked by. I had to almost yell at a waitress passing by for them to finally acknowledge me. I explained the gyoza is wrong. She said this is not her table and was going to leave, I stopped her and said to please get my server then. She said ok and we kept waiting for another 10 minutes and no one showed up. I got the attention of a manager and finally my server came over. She said to me you can eat that one and she can order another vegetable gyoza. What part of vegetarian don't you get?! At the end my friend and I all finished our sushi rolls, but still no gyoza. I called the manager over, and he said they are working on it. We didn't want to wait anymore and canceled the order. Never even apologized for brining me the wrong food! Good it self (the sushi rolls at least) was delicious!
The food was awesome. Our server was very distracted even though it didn’t appear she was busy. We waited around 10 minutes before even being waited upon. I had to get up and go inside to find someone, who said she’ll look for our server. Probably will not return as there are several other options in the community.
Everything was perfect! The service was fast & everyone was so nice. The food ( as always was exquisite! I'm a die hard fan of the edamame! You hv to try!!! Drinks were great! Ambiance perfect! I can't say enough great things about Raw! Go there & you'll have an amazing dining & overall terrific time! You will not be disappointed!!
Great service! The menu was extensive and had explanations which were helpful. I was the only one who doesn't eat sushi but I had plenty of choices to make me happy.
I had the crab cakes and tempura vegetables, which were perfectly prepared and very tasty. Our friends had a variety of rolls and sushi.
All in all it's a great place to eat, have happy hour, and easy to find.
Food was great, drinks weren't consistent though we ordered 3 mango martinis and all tasted different one we couldn't drink was sour...it was a fun place but music was a little loud for how far back we were 6 top back corner by restrooms...service was good but waitress didn't warn us happy hour ending soon and took a while to clear table.
Used open table to make a reservation and lucky I did ..people were waiting outside for a table.
The hostess , my waitress , and manager were very friendly .
The food is always excellent ..if you are looking for great food at an affordable price go during happy hour and ask for specials. I spend about 100.00 for dinner and two of the items were reduced . ( 2 persons meal)
I ordered Kani sushi and they were all out ..so they replaced it with LOBSTER sushi at no extra charge ..first time trying it .. delicious!
Love this RA Sushi location; the staff is always incredible and good at what they do. Our server, Samantha, was especially attentive and efficient -- she had waited on us previously and remembered what my wife and I liked. Very thoughtful and friendly -- great energy as well. Thank you so much for making our lunch extra, extra enjoyable.
Celebrated our daughter's birthday here per her request for sushi- a party of 8. Our service was excellent, the food was certainly better than average. Clean, attentive, not anything to be amazed about, but a good evening. Signature dishes were mostly unique flavoring and worth trying.
This was my second time at RA. During both of my visits the food was outstanding, but this most recent time left a bit to be desired with the service.
It as a bit distracting and annoying that different servers kept coming over to our table every 10 minutes to ask "How is everything?". I appreciated the concern, but it was difficult to carry on a conversation with my dinner companion when we had someone constantly at the table interrupting us. This went on for the entire 1.25 - 1.5 hours we were at the restaurant. Additionally, about half-way through the meal, one of the servers left our check on the table. Less then 5 minutes later she came back to pick up payment, at which point we informed her "We haven't paid yet. In fact, we're not even half-way through our meal". She seemed embarrassed and said "Oh sorry. No rush. Take your time", but non-the-less left the check on the table. To add insult to injury, the moment we would take the last piece of sushi off of a serving plate (while we were mid-chew) a buser would come over and ask "May I take that plate from you?" It was almost like they were actively trying their best to rush us out of there.
Had the restaurant been overbooked or busy, I may have understood the need to turnover tables a bit quicker, but that was not the case. At the time we arrived for our reservation (7:15), there were still plenty of empty tables available for seating. As the evening continued, the dining room emptied out a bit more. At the time we left (around 8:30 - 8:45), there were only about a handful of people still in the dining room.
Perhaps it was just a slow night, the servers were bored, and therefore were able to give a bit more attention to the tables that were there? I don't know for sure. I will definitely give RA another chance, as I have had a good experience there in the past, but had this been my first visit, I can't say that I would ever go back again.
We visited on a Friday night and brought our 12 yo daughter with us. Had our reservation and was happy to hear them hold our table on the patio to a group ahead of us! Service was quick and on point, but the one complaint was the sushi came out separately with my wife first. By the time mine came out, her's was almost gone (Scotsdale - warm night, fresh fish, eat cold!) Both of our entry's were gone well before our daughters Teriyaki Chicken was served. Luckily she ate enough of ours that she was not hungry. The sushi was average. All in all, we have had better.
This restaurant is ran very well, the servers are fast and provide an enjoyable experience every time I have gone. Atmosphere is good too, not too loud but not too quite where everyone in the building can here you. Overall, love this restaurant in Old Town, would recommend going for a date!
My wife and I were in Scottsdale for a short vacation. Decided to try Ra based on a friend's recommendation.
The interior of the restaurant is tired and in serious need of a makeover - not very presentable and I can only imagine what it looks like when fully lit.
The food was very average. We tried 7-8 dishes - a couple were great; the others were average. The cocktails we tried were delicious though.
The service was good.
All in all, given the number of other good restaurants in Scottsdale, I would not highly recommend this one.
