They forgot to get the wasabi that goes with the sushi. The chicken was overly blacked. The Coke machine was flat. They were out of the variety of tea that I wanted. I ordered ice cream and it took a two waiters and a really long time to get it. Service was sluggish on a not very busy day. I had to call the restaurant to ensure that they recorded my Open Table points. I feel like the place has really gone down hill.
Service is very good
First time at RA Sushi Bar!!!! Loved it, great food, and great service!!!!
Food and service were both unimpressive. Appetizers weren't good- calamari was WAY over-salted, and crab cake was mushy and tasted like it was made with cheap canned tuna. Sushi rolls had a good flavor, but were poorly rolled and kept falling apart when picked up with chop sticks. Server never checked back with us after food was delivered, to see if everything was OK. The place was surprisingly empty for a Saturday at 7pm, and they were sold out of more than half their dessert menu- including staples of mochi and green tea ice cream. Overpriced for lack of quality in their food.
This was my first time eating Sushi. It was great. Perfect customer service and atmosphere.
Great food ,lots to pick from, even my picky eater teens found stuff they like .
The restaurant was extremely dirty. The dishes had water stains all over them and the tables were sticky. Service was excellent though!
We enjoy the poke and sashimi every time we visit.
Awful. Six people at lunch and every meal was brought out at a different time. Two peoples food took so long that the check was at the table before they even got their food. Had to send back a sushi roll because there was hair on one of the pieces. When I checked the bill, they were still going to charge for the hairy sushi roll until I said no. This was our third time having a business lunch here and each time has been worse than the time before.
The lunch bento boxes were excellent and very delish. All elements were fresh and flavorful including the miso soup, salad, vegetable tempura, salmon, even the bed of cabbage slaw under the dishes. Our waitress was very pleasant and let us know about the status when we were waiting a bit for our meals. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience!
Eggcellent, anything with chicken there is kool-and-the-gang.
Ra was delicious. The best sushi I have ever had. They were also very accommodating when we had additional people to add to our large group! Looking forward to going back!
Always consistent. Decent sushi and good lunch menu.
Great service great food what more can you ask for!
We have dined here many times but this time it took 45 mins just to get our first roll and the last roll came to our table about an hour and a half after we sat
It's probably just me, but the food per cost is not worth it. $70 for a data and myself, and we still had to go to taco bell afterward to fill up.
From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile. Everyone who came to our table was happy and helpful. The best service I've experienced in a very long time.
I was disappointed in both the service and the food. I ordered a hot green tea of which took 10 to 15 minutes to refill after asking numerous times. Also we had to ask for our teriyaki chicken dish a few times and also had to request silverware and soy sauce more than once. It was just overall a below par experience.
Made our "reservation" through Open Table 20 minutes prior to our arrival and when we came in, I said "I have a reservation" and the hostess replied, "yeah, you JUST made that so we're still getting your table ready." So after 10 minutes, we got sat down (at a table after I requested a booth), right next to the door that goes to the patio and all the cold air was pouring through the door. Our server was training a new server and she was so rushed, that we felt like she was trying to just it over with. Her trainee was wonderful and so delightful, but she almost made him try to rush our decisions. I typically love RA, but I guess I need to stay away on Friday nights.
Very poor waitress and staff. They messed up our order and we kept having to ask for our appetizer after our meal came out. They then over charged us by adding items to our bill we never ordered.
My favorite Japanese restaurant. Best tuna tataki in the city
Absolutely delicious! Service could have been better. Our waitress didn't know how to work the machine for happy hour, and attempted twice to charge us full price. The issue was eventually solved. We will definitely be back.
One of my favorite sushi bars in the Chandler area. The presentation and quality never disappoints.
We enjoyed our dinner very much. Birthday celebration for a friend. Our server Christy was excellent! We ordered several appetizers and enjoyed them all. Dessert was awesome!
It was a good night. We weren't in a hurry so it didn't bother us the service was very slow. It often took asking a few times to get what we ordered.
Awesome experience as always.
I really have enjoyed Ra's but the last two visits had a negative trend. We went there with a large group (10 people - we made reservations). The server was great! The only this was we came for the Clam Udon (my favorite) and there were only 3 portions left -- so they split that among 4 of us.
Then, 3 of us went yesterday, and they were out of the Clam Udon (which I wasn't told until after I ordered). Two of us had ordered it. The server returned to tell us, so we asked for menus. She bought only 1 over. I let my wife look first, then before I had a chance to pick anything, the server returned. So I had her take my wife's order and asked for a few more moments. The server never returned. The kitchen staff brought out dinner for my wife and daughter, and I still had nothing. When the server finally returned, my wife and daughter had done eating. We were heading to a movie, so I went without.
Probably won't go back there for a while...
The sushi was flavorless. It slow and service non existent.
The sushi is fantastic! The service is good, we have had great service and then not so great service. However, I give 3 stars because they cranked up the music (kind of techno versions of pop songs) at like 7pm. I just wanted a nice dinner with my husband on his birthday. I couldn't even talk to him without shouting! I get the ambiance thing, but maybe crank the music in the bar and leave it lower in the dining area.
Seated immediately, server was great and had great recommendations.
At this location (Ahwatukee ), the service is top notch and the food is excellent. Even though they had setup our table for six inside, two of the women in our group were chilled so we asked to sit outside. This request wasn't met with a frown or negative comment but a "can do" attitude which really put everyone at ease.
We unknowingly landed in happy hour which also made for libations and a few extra platters of sushi very easy to order. As this was our first time here, our server was not only patient but extremely helpful in suggesting what to order and how many pieces per plate. Everything from the spring rolls to the crab meat wontons, dragon rolls, California rolls, and a few other "rolls" I fail to remember were excellent.
Pricing was very reasonable and with drinks was around $25 / person. We weren't rushed and the choice to be outside on a very comfortable evening was a good one. We will definitely be back.
Excellent decoration, space, lighting.
Sushi counter and back wall attract people.
Should be Japanese traditional music like
Koto (string instrument),
Fue (bannboo frute),
We were in town for a convention and decided to roll the dice on having Sushi in the middle of the desert....It was a GREAT decision. The food was fresh and tasty. We hit them with a last minute group of 10 and they handled it like a champ. Great Service! All in all, it was awesome. I highly recommend RA!
The restaurant had our reservation, but it wasn't needed, as there were quite a few open tables. We were seated in a back windowless area, presumably where the waitress's station was, as that area's tables were full. It would have been nice to be out in the area where the windows were. There was outside seating, but it was a warm evening, so sitting inside was preferable. Our waitress was very attentive and efficient, although the practice of squatting down to be at eye level with the diners always seems to me to be too casual and slightly annoying/patronizing. I liked the inquiry as to whether we wanted our sushi orders brought out as they became ready or when they all were ready. The food was very good. I especially liked the "Rak" n Roll with shrimp and crab. Also the seabass sashimi with lemon slices was excellent. The yellowtail sashimi was buttery and fresh. My glass of sauvignon blanc was fresh and perfectly chilled. All-in-all, a mostly pleasant experience with tasty food, convenient to the movie theater next door.
We have been to RA many times and have always enjoyed their selections. This time when we went we found they had discontinued their Salmon carpaccio. This was the best thing on their menu in our opinion. It is what set them apart from the other Sushi restaurants in town. The recommended replacement was dull and basically sashimi with lemon slices.
We also had a either a new or absent minded server. We had to ask for our bottle of saki that we had ordered and she forgot ordered fooditems twice. While the food is good, it no longer has an edge to make us come back .
Disappointed in RA
This is a place that would totally depend on your server's knowledge and ability to understand what you like, we got lucky!
Making a reservation was completely pointless. We waited longer than the people who just walked in the door. Hostesses are extremely rude and dont know how to read your reservation.
Relaxing. Right next to the AMC 24 movie Ahwatukee movie theater. Had some of their standard rolls. Good but nothing spectacular. But also had one of their specialty rolls. I forgot what it was called but it had shrimp tempura and jalapeno. Awesome.
Being from NYC, I am a full fledged sushi lover! While no one can compare to Sushi Yasuda (sorry Ra!), Ra definitely provides fresh fish and friendly service. Sometimes you do have to remind your waiter to bring rice, soup, or other sides that come with your meal, but overall everyone is friendly, and the food and drinks are delicious.
The server gave great recommendations on sushi & the sake bar. However she did not come back, we wanted more sake but by the time she returned we changed our mind.
