RA Sushi Bar Restaurant - Lombard Ratings and Reviews
Great place for sushi. Don’t order other main dishes. We had two different chicken dishes, both of them had over cooked chicken (dry to the bone). I would have sent it back, but it took forever to cook. Had to ask the server what was taking so long, she said it would be right up, but it wasen’t . When she came by to ask how it was, I told her the chicken was over cooked and dry. She said nothing and left. All our sushi dishes were great, lesson learned.
They sat us down, waitress didn’t come for 20 mins, ordered two drinks mine came first 10
Mins later my wife’s about 6 mins after that it was watery as if it sitting, food was good like always but the service was terrible same with the waitress I’ve been here numerous times I don’t think I’m coming back anymore
RA Sushi is ok for a chain sushi place. If you’re looking to grab a quick bite and want something a little different before or after a movie (or while out shopping) it’s fine. If you’re looking for super fresh fish and a fine dining Sushi experience...this isn’t the place.
This was so disappointing because my wife and I had such high hopes. Bottom line, the sushi was bland; there were no flavors. Even the scallop dynamite lacked flavor and heat. We couldn’t put our finger on it but something was missing in every dish... seasoning? My son’s plain chicken and rice was over cooked and dried. He could barely chew it without water. We won’t be back.
We made a late reservation (10:15) to reconnect after a busy week and it was incredibly loud. We were put next to the dj station and could barely hear and/or talk. The appetizer was brought after the main rolls, we weren't served water and were not checked on once. It's not my favorite sushi place - so, probably won't be back...
We arrived about 15 minutes prior to our reservation. We were seated right way at a heightop outside on the patio. We decided to try one of the specialty sushi dishes and a maki roll. Our server made a recommendation for us and her choice was good. We enjoyed the rolls and glad we had the experience. I took away one star because the service was a bit slow. One mistake occurred at the end. Our waitress handed us back the wrong credit card and receipt at the end. We knew this was a mistake and located the people right away that had our card too. We understand this was not intentional, but just wanted to make note.
Food was amazing service was terrible. Was super slow on a Friday night so I dont know why my sushi came out quick and my friend waited 20 mins for her food to even come out. I was done eating mine by then. The server disapered several times. Every time we ordered a drink it took 10-15 mins to get it(4 times) the check took even longer. Was very very disappointed....tipped her well cause I believe in karma but wrote a note on her tip sheet.
I think this place is going downhill. I found the waitress rude and indifferent. There was one other table in the entire place for lunch on a Saturday. She barely checked on us, gave us the wrong drinks, doesn't cater to families when I asked for kid friendly options. I can think of five other sushi places that would be better to go to.
I felt compelled to write this review after reading such negative ones about this particular location, and almost not going here at all due solely to this reason..
A little background info...I'm a newbie when it comes to sushi, having only tried it 2-3 times in my relatively short 34 years, and I have only ever had the "cooked" kind.
I researched several reviews on Yelp to ensure I made the most out of my next sushi endeavor. I really wanted to go during Happy Hour, which is from 3-7 pm, but my twin sister couldn't make it to the restaurant until after 7 pm, so we had to nix that idea. As suggested by another Yelper, we decided to make online reservations on Open Table, which was a very simple and efficient process. I was able to see the menu and prices for RA in this app and could have sworn they advertised "4 for $30, 3 pm to close." I figured with this deal, we wouldn't even miss Happy Hour prices, and felt very good about making a 7:15 pm reservation.
I got to the restaurant before my sister. The place was not as packed as I expected, and I was seated right away. My sister joined me a few minutes later and we were greeted with a very friendly, competent waitress (I forgot her name), who explained to us that the 4 for $30 was only on Wednesdays. Bummer :/ Despite this little hiccup, we decided to forge ahead and ordered off the regular priced dinner menu. After confirming with our waitress which dishes were "cooked," we ordered the Viva Las Vegas (which does have spicy tuna in it), Ra' ckin Roll, California Dream, and Crunchy Shrimp Tempura. Our rolls were out in less than 10 minutes, and each one tasted better than the last. My sister and I were both very pleased with our selections and, although I had my doubts that this meal would fill us up, we were actually pretty full after devouring the 4 rolls. Great food, will definitely be back!
Service was very slow and the waitress was not attentive. The food is always amazing! The was the first time of the many times we visit that we received poor service. We were there to celebrate Father's Day and we were sat at a cramped table. Everyone one else who made a reservation for a more comfortable table and when I asked to move I was told they were all reserved. Even when tables that were not reserved freed up they did not move us. You would think that they would take note that we were celebrating and would want to be more comfortable to enjoy the night but instead we were sat at a tiny two seat table in the middle of the room. This is all aside from the slow, terrible service we received at this tiny table.
Extremely slow service, waitress took forever. It took over 45 minutes to get 3 rolls, we ended up boxing up because we had to leave. The edamame took 20 minutes alone to bring out.
The soda is ALWAYS flat here, I don't understand how nobody has taken care of this. And just about every time I need to remind the waitress to bring roll they're missing, or my grilled veggies/steamed rice. They always forget something! If it wasn't for the food we would never come back. Train your staff better and hire more people to attend to the tables and make the food.
We had a slight mixup with our order, but our waitress was on top of it , and we got extra food to cover the time we spent waiting. It was my 30th or 40th time eating there but it was some of my friends first time, and they had a great experience. We will definitely be back! The poke tacos were amazing as was the tunacado and of course my favorite the Vegas roll !
We asked to be seated outside and were told it was a 25 minute wait. We were seated inside but it was so hot and stuffy inside I couldn't take it after a few minutes. We noticed that there were still several empty tables outside and it didn't seem like they were going to seat anyone there so we asked to be seated outside again and they seemed to be fine with that. We ordered food for our kids right away (no kids menu which is surprising being located at Yorktown) while we were deciding on what sushi to order. we ordered our sushi, expecting it to be out in 15-20 minutes. It took 45 minutes for our sushi to come out! Our kids were finished with their meals long before the sushi arrived. to top it off, only two of the three sushi rolls came. We had to wait an extra 15 minutes for the third sushi roll. During this entire time, our waitress didn't come back to check on us, to see if we liked our food or to say that she would check on the status of our sushi. On top of it, the sushi was mediocre. The spicy tuna in the spicy tuna roll was mushy and the Rallipop- a signature roll , was ok, but nothing special and not worth the price.
