RA Sushi Bar Restaurant - Glenview Ratings and Reviews
Service extremely slow taking over an hour to receive last sushi. Restaurant did not appear to be busy. Waiter offered a coupon for free popcorn at local theater for the wait. Unfortunately we weren't going to the movies! Better dining options available elsewhere.
We have been here several and always been satisfies with our food. But this time we had ordered spicy salmon and when we got it there was no spicy taste on it. After our wait staff checked the receipt that goes to the sushi chef he was told that is the spicy salmon he served so they gave us some spicy to use. Just a note when menu says spicy it should have at least some spicy taste on it. The spicy salmon bowl was served as a salmon bowl. I am not questioning the sushi chef just saying the salmo was very fresh but no picky taste on the dish AT ALL!
We sat and waited for someone to come to our table for about 20 minutes. They were not crowded.
However, after I approached the sushi bar to asked for our waitstaff, next thing I know the manager is running hot and cold for us. He did make up for our long wait. One thing... our entrees ended up coming out while we were still eating our appetizers - a pet peeve of mine. By the way, the food was very good and fish was fresh. When our check came, the took off both of our desserts. 😊
Overall very good.
The restaurant was very noisy, so we opted to sit in the bar area. The hostess neglected to mark the reservation as an open table reservation, making me receive an email doubting my showing up for the reservation. The tables had not been cleared, the service was a bit slow They miso soup was tasty but served in a plastic bowl, as was all the other food which would have been nice served on proper plates. The Soya sauce bottle was empty. The food was really good which made up for the other negatives.
Very attentive and friendly hostess and server. Beautiful atmosphere. Extensive menu. I love the coconut vanilla creme brule. Enjoyed it so much the last time I was here and had to return. This time I brought my daughter. It's her new favorite dessert as well.
I've never been to RA sushi and My wife and I were pleasantly surprised. Everything was fresh and tasty. Our waiter was awesome and very helpful with the menu. He had another drink for me before I even asked for it. We took advantage of some of the reduced happy hour priced menu options before it ended which was nice. I would highly recommend this place. Good for a date night.
went for a quick lunch early on mother's day. for a good location and busy area in glenview i was surprised that it was not busy or crowded at all. it also seemed that if they did get busy they would have a problem keeping up with service because there were only two servers there for the entire restaurant.
The restaurant is huge. There were only 3 parties there for lunch. This made for an awkward ambiance-- kind of boomy and empty. The service was very friendly, but slow and the server was not very knowledgeable. I asked if they had non-alcoholic beer and she said yes. 15 minutes later she said that they didn't have non-alcoholic beer.
It wasn't bad (in fact the food was quite good), just awkward.
Food was delicious! Service not so much. Had asked for water refills and soy I sauce refill- it was on the table when we got there and it was empty. Also had to ask for ginger and wasabi. Kids miso soup's game very late and they were very hungry. We will see drinks and even a couple rolls and appetizers before the miso soup. I would go back I would try to sit in a different section. The rolls were great- so were the appetizers! My son ordered the steak and loved it! I just wanted to visit with my family and not have to track down the servers and busboys.
Valentine's Day dinner. Well overbooked; several other parties, along with our group, waited 30 min or more AFTER reservation time. Manager and hostess did not respond professionally to frustrated customers. Not a place for private convo; close tables & open dining room. Ironically, the hostess/waiting area is incredibly small&unsafe. Inexperienced crew? Waiter didn't bring or offer water until we requested, never once asked if we wanted another drink, and 1/2 if our order was either missing or wrong. He did profusely apologize as he handed us the check, however.
Very disappointing overall. The hostess did not have enough menus when she sat us at our table, she said she'd bring a menu in a moment, but I never saw her again. It was at least ten minutes before I was able to flag someone down to see if there was anyone assigned to our table. Then the food, the specialty maki was completely underwhelming -- actually, just not good; have never been anywhere before where I didn't enjoy their specialty maki. The poke taco appetizer was delicous, as was the agadashi tofu appetizer (which took FOREVER to get to us).
Additionally, there is a large seating area near the door which is VERY chilly. We moved, but, not far enough.
Service was friendly, cheerful and timely. I actually feel bad for the wait staff. They were great, but the food they served left something to be desired. Creative menu, but sushi was fishy tasting. Not very crowded so I wonder about inventory turn... I'd enjoy getting a beer and cooked food there, but I would not recommend as a sushi restaurant.
In Northbrook IL on business, found this as an OpenTable offering for late lunch. Nice list of foreign and domestic beers. I went with an a la carte assortment of sashimi, plus unagi and ama ebi nigiri (with fried shrimp heads!) and a fried soft shell crab spider roll maki. Kudos for having my favorites. Portions were generous for the price and fresh. Sashimi came out 5 to 7 pieces per order. Nigiri was the customary two pieces per order. Maki was rolled in lettuce which was a nice touch I have not seen before. Nice ambiance seems like it is more for evenings, very uncrowded when I was there around 3 pm. Service was attentive prompt and friendly. Would gladly return here.
