RA Sushi Bar Restaurant - Austin
Guests can dine al fresco on the our patio, take a table in our dining room, sit with our sushi chefs at the sushi bar or sip and socialize casually in our bar area.
Whatever you choose, it’s all served with a big side of anything can happen. So bring your friends or make new ones; you’re in for a great time in the RA.
Generally nice. However, the sushi was not the best I’ve had.
It was an interesting night. It seemed overstaffed but everyone was very friendly and very helpful. Would definitely come back if I didnt have to sit by the kitchen again.
Peter and staff were ON POINT w their suggestions and service! GREAT date spot! Thanks y’all!!
Service was good but the music was so loud it was hard to talk. It was also hard to eat with the base so high
If you enjoy sushi with imitation crab meat, it's a good place. Otherwise, I can get better sushi in SD.
Best customer service, food, seating, drinks, view, vibe I’ve experienced at a restaurant as long as I can remember. They really go the extra mile for you and make you feel special for being there. One of my favorite food and drink spots in Austin, and a perfect romantic date night for couples.
Great sashimi entree
The restaurant instantly gives off a generic “chain” feel. I would compare it to the Japanese version of a PF Chang’s. The food was good, but definitely not an authentic sushi joint. Service was good but our table and menus felt sticky and unclean.
The food was great and the staff was nice and accommodating.
I sat on the balcony and had a great view of downtown. Only wished there was a candle on the table for viewing the menu. My server was great and crazy monkey roll is amazing!
Amazing food! Very hip spot for sharable and sushi. Kind of loud for friends who were trying to visit, but otherwise amazing!
Amazing view and amazing food. Way better than I expected.
Food was very good but service was faulty. Took us 30 min to get a table with our reservation and 20 min for a waiter to stop by.
Have been here twice before. LOVED IT. Came for valentines and my birthday. Brought a group of friends. First it takes 30min at least to get or drinks. Then we cannot find our waiter for another 10-15min. Drinks come, we order food. Over an hour later the food comes out. My appetizer with my meal. Half the table got their food when i was COMPLETELY DONE. Not alight difference but at least 20min later. The dj was great but way too loud! We could not hear each other at all and gave up trying to communicate with the person not immediately next to us. Took the waiter 15min to come back with our cards once we gave them to pay. Almost two hours there. Everyone left unhappy, my friends whose birthday it was got his food last as others are trying to pay and leave. Waiter or manager made no effort to apologize
The food was not high quality, the menu was trendy and not original, the server was great, but it was noisy and there was bad music playing. Not fine dining for sure.
Meeting w realtor, pre- celebration. I suggested the restaurant frankly because they made a great margarita. That was mistake one, they ran out of Don Julio tequila! No tequila on a Saturday at 6:30? The waiter was clueless. What kind of tequila do u have?? No clue. Slooooooo. Let me ask. Oh, we don’t have that. What do u have? Awful. I ear sashimi, it’s never fresh, quite often very “cold” almost frozen. Last time I will visit. Poor, uneducated servers, average to worse on food and NO clue on drinks. Good luck
Terrible sushi! Avoid it if you can
Happy hour is great and the sushi is high quality
Food was average at best, serivce was terrible. Waiter forgot our rolls multiple times, forgot drinks, etc.
My wife and I went for lunch on a Saturday. We made reservations but we're seated immediately. Ramen was great and the sashimi was amazing. Definitely coming back.
The food and drinks quality was so poor that I would not return. The ambiance is better outside, but it is too hot in Texas to enjoy it.
Service was horrible. Drinks weren’t at the table waiting like I had requested. Messed up our order twice. Still had to pay for the whole meal. Overall, not a good experience at all.
Shane made recommendations on the menu that were spot on. We lingered while discussing business and were never rushed. Sashimi was incredible. Get the salmon, yellow fish, and spicy tuna.
Easy to get in and only had to wait the couple of minutes for them to get the table ready.
OK if you want Happy Hour, great food, great drinks, GREAT VALUE!! You need to check this place out. Always been scheduling to go and never made it till a good friend dragged me out and lemme tell you. . . . TOTALLY WORTH IT! The amount of discounted apps and the drink specials during happy hour are crazy! Johnny was an awesome server, fun, educated and just an all around awesome guy. The specialty rolls so yummy! Beer and a sake for like $8, gimme more! Will definitely be back and can't wait for the weather to improve and sit outside to overlook 4th street.
The unique ambiance actually threw me off a bit. Personally was not a fan.
Slow hostess even though restaurant was almost empty. Also too long waiting for a food to come. Food tasted good but overall I won’t be coming back.
Service was horrible, has to bus my own table. No silverware, empty drinks, fire alarm going off, empty soy sauce, no waters. Enough said
The calamari was not what I was expecting. The breading had no flavor, and the dipping sauce it came with also had no flavor. The sake was small compared to other japanese restaurants that offer sake. The sushi wasn't that great either. None of the food was that great. Only good thing was the outside patio, but even then it was noisy. Will not be returning again.
Sushi was great, but we had uncooked chicken on the skewers. Our server did not come to the table often and seemed annoyed when he did. We had nats flying around our table the entire evening. We mentioned this to the server and said this is very typical. That steered me away from wanting to come back. I have eaten here at different cities, and this was the worst experience.
Service is amazing and the food is even better. Has been a favorite of mine since I've moved to Austin.
The experience was ok. It was quite busy which made service a little challenging. The food was decent but not amazing. Overall, I would go again just because I know it was very busy for a holiday weekend.
Very disappointed based on the good reviews we read before going. Everything was overcooked or over seasoned. Service was decent but slow. Wine (white) was warm and needed ice.
We had reservations for a Friday night at 7:15 for a party of six to celebrate a birthday. They were busy and it seemed like they were a bit understaffed but our water did his best to be attentive. They were out of the Pinot Grigiio listed on the menu and the other white wine hadn't been chilled yet. That was the only hiccup in the evening. Our starters were the best part of the meal. We shared the black pepper wings, calamari, garlic edamame, and gyoza, everything was delicious. We ordered 8 separate rolls and they were great too.
I wish it wasn't so loud. Not only do the diners voices carry because it's one large dining room, but the music was too loud on to of this. I just don't understand why restaurants have the volume up so high. We shouldn't have to raise our voices and lean in to hear someone talk at our own table.
Great location downtown in the warehouse district of downtown.
I expected the carpaccio to be sliced a little thinner but it was tasty. The poké sauce with the ponzu roll was the best I’ve had in a long time, will definitely get every time I go. The Philadelphia roll was ok but the cream cheese had an off texture, really can’t put my finger on it. The waitress started off really good but we waited an hour for her to come back to the table to ask for the check but she never did come back. We had the choice of picking up and leaving without paying or try our best to track her down. We chose the latter but patrons should never have to literally chase the server just to pay to leave. I know it was an hour because we wanted to watch the second half of the NBA Western Conference finals at home but ended up watching it and overtime from our table and she still hadn’t come back. Decent night, decent food will go back as RA has been a favorite but if I have a similar experience I will not return.
Great food and service
I would not recommend this restaurant. We arrived on Mother's Day to an understaffed restaurant, with dirty tables, and a long wait just to receive water. The staff continually tried to serve us other patrons' food, leading us to think they had no idea what they were doing. I had requested a special mother's day gift to my dear friend be delivered during our dinner (I was going to pay for it) and they failed to do so, even after the online request had been submitted while making my reservation. Pretty sure they don't read the online special request for dinner reservations, so don't bother. There are plenty of great Asian restaurants in Austin with much better service. Don't waste your time and money here, you'll only be frustrated by the poor service.
Unfortunately we were quite disappointed. I ordered the teriyaki chicken and fried rice. Pretty simple to get right. My dish cane out absolutely cold. Not quite sure how this is possible but we will not be returning!!
Sushi was good, not great. After 10 minutes of waiting, we had to ask for a waiter.
