About R10 Social House
The deep channel buoy, R10, is known amongst local boaters, paddlers and seafarers of all kinds (especially the seal variety) as a meeting spot. Named after this buoy located just off the Redondo Harbor, our 90-seat neighborhood joint is a new American social house offering market driven food, well-crafted cocktails and a selection of intriguing, affordable wines. In a setting of reclaimed chic with nautical nods, locals can meet up for a quick bite or linger over a meal with friends and family while taking in the scenic waterfront views. Southern California affords us the luxury of diversity, and so we are able to select farm produce that may have a brief season and that we can use at their peak. Our menu showcases impeccably sourced ingredients from local farms with high standards of sustainability and organic cultivation. We know exactly where our food comes from and how it gets to your table.

R10 Social House Ratings and Reviews
I booked a reservation on the patio because I knew it would be a nice evening. When we got their (with friends from out of the area) they told us that the patio was booked for a special occasion. They should have called me. We had to sit in the bar which was very noisy and the food/drinks were super expensive. We had 4 drinks and 3 appetizers and the bill was over 100.00.
We came for the Redondo boat parade and specifically requested to sit in the upstairs patio to catch a glimpse of the boats. However upon arrival we learned the top floor was closed due to a private event. The hostess said she had called to confirm my reservation but in that call she never mentioned the second floor was going to be closed. In my opinion it was a bait and switch. I would have appreciated knowing ahead of time if my request could not be accommodated so I could have made plans elsewhere. At the last minute it was not possible to find another place in time, and we ended up missing the boat parade :(
This is a great go to place for my friends to ge together in Redondo Beach. The food is not amazing, kind of trying too hard, but not bad. What I love is the atmosphere, looking over the Redondo Harbor, the vibe of the decor: industrial/comfort, and great for groups. They also have good cocktails and a good wine list. And I can usually get a reservation or walk in. And it's a nice break from Hermosa Pier.
This was probably the worst experiences ever! We were down from Northern California to spend my birthday with 5 family members in So. Cal. We got there and they seated us at a 'bar table with only 4 bar stools for 7 people. Then drug over these chairs that you basically got your neck up to the table. So we asked if there was any way we could move to a booth or something else. They moved us to a booth for 6 people but didn't have a chair for the 7th person, so we drug over a barstool. We then sat there with menus for a good 10 minutes with no one asking if we wanted water, drink, or anything. So we got up and left! Such a wonderful way to spend a birthday with family - R10 Social - you should really take a little more pride in what you do and treat 'Open table' customers with the courtesy they deserve for making a reservation in the first place!! The worst!
Our waitress was awesome - but they were so understaffed and we could tell. Took us 20 minutes to even get someone to take our drink order! Not her fault at all - just poor staff planning obviously for a Saturday.
Decent food otherwise and a nice place. We go here all the time.
This restaurant is under rated. The food here is delicious and I have been here with a number of different friends and it has been consistently good. The drink menu is great and creative and the service is good as well. Do not leave without ordering one of their 2 desserts or both for that matter.
We probably came in at a bad time as there was a private party going on. I made a reservation and asked what the host would recommend in terms of seating. He suggested to place us upstairs. After we sat for about 10 minutes a band started to play and we could barely have a conversation. So that was not a good recommendation as the downstairs area would have been better. Also the waitress was not super friendly and seemed very distracted.
We made reservations for a Saturday night and the hostess actually thanked us for being on time, loved that!! We were seated on the patio overlooking the ocean. Great table. The service was attentive and friendly. Everybody was so nice and welcoming. We each tried a unique cocktail, mine had gin, basil, and strawberries. The drink was excellent. We started off with some shishito peppers in a soy and maple sauce. They were tasty. My husband got the pulled pork and I got the kale salad with scallops. Everything was fresh and delicious. We would definitely go back again!
R10 has been underrated since it opened. I checked it out early on, and it certainly felt like they were still getting it together (they ran out of things, didn't make consistent drinks, etc.).
Now, R10 has improved dramatically and is a legit spot for food and drinks. Listen to their specials, they are usually really good. We come here for 3 different reasons and I recommend a visit for any/all of them: 1) (small) company parties upstairs with great drinks and appetizers, 2) real drinks to supplement all the beer that flows from Naja's and King Harbor Brewing Company, and 3) when we have 4+ people looking for a nice but casual dinner w/o going to Hermosa or Manhattan.
If you've never been here, I recommend it as the best place near the pier (it's in a very different category than Tony's...). If you went here early on and were disappointed, it's time to give 'em another shot.
Downstairs is great if you want a quiet dinner. We enjoy being upstairs as they have an awesome view of the water from their patio and live music inside the upstairs bar. The chicken and waffles are borderline a dessert. Also we had the duck tacos (special that night) they were amazing. Great cocktails too.
best food We've had in years in California. Compares with and even beats the best rated restaurants in the LA Area!! We are french and we love subtle flavors and mix. This was perfecrt from oysters to the ahi tuna with avocado purée through the duck breast and the mushroom risotto. thank you for this excellent valentine evening.
Second time dining at R10 Social House and enjoyed my experience this time around. My prior dining experience here was mixed as the menu pushed too hard to be gastropub and eclectic with questionable dishes. This time around, I was more than satisfied with the menu changes as their entrees are solid from top to bottom. I recommend doing a reservation online to grab a table on Fridays and Saturdays. The tables can fill up super fast as the location is lively one. Solid bar and drink menu. A fun place to have a drink or a nice meal.
Went to R10 for both brunch and dinner on two separate ocassions. The view during the day was breath taking and the brunch menu was very good. I would recommend the Bloody Mary and the cocktails are good too. For dinner I added two more people on a Wednesday night and they were very accommodating. Would definitely come back!
We're so impressed by their customer service. When my husband bit into his pulled pork sandwich and found a wire twisty, we informed one of the staff, and they immediately apologized. They sent us a new one + extra truffle fries. The manager came over and apologized, she offered to comp the food and even gave us an extra drink. 2 of the other staff also came over to check in on us and apologize. That was 5 star customer service that I feel every restaurant/food establishment should live by. You made a mistake, fix it, don't argue with the customer and work on regaining their trust because you want us to come back.
The evening of 8/20 had a party upstairs and the bar was VERY NOISY thus it was hard to converse across our table. We would like to see more choices on the happy hour food list.
Also the HH wine list could have a couple more choices than two.
HOWEVER... Paige and Elizabeth were very special with their friendliness and service to our table and the manager as well. We are looking very forward to coming back soon !!
This was my second time there. The first was a going away dinner for a friend a year ago. We got the same waitress this evening & she remembered me. Outstanding!
Nice variety on the menu. We did a lot of tasting of each other's dishes (sorry I can't remember them all) and everything was good. Enjoyable selection of cocktails - I'm not much of a wine drinker so that's a plus for me. I think I had that Ivy Gimlet both times - nice touch of mint in it.
This will be my GoTo place for a relaxed, but nice dinner out. Well done, R10.
