Great atmosphere (outside)
Food very good.
Went for Brunch.
The server shorted us on some breakfast items. The people from the pool were loud and shouting profanity in the dining room. Not recommended for young children. The restaurant was almost empty and it took quite a while to get our drinks. Will rethink this restaurant that I thought would impress my guest.
Service was a bit show. For some reason they could not make my quinoa salad so they brought me a calamari app and did not charge for it. They were very apologetic.
Great atmosphere and service. The food was exceptionally good with very high quality and fresh ingredients.
The food was not very good, in fact most of what the four of us ate was not very tasty at all. Only the drinks and ambience was good. Very poor value imo.
Very good food in a pleasant atmosphere -- much better than some higher end restaurants (I am looking at you Flourish).
I enjoy Zu Zu. Good food and good service in a neat retro atmosphere
A friend and I had a great time at Zuzu for Easter brunch. The limited holiday brunch menu was pretty standard, but the food was flavorful. The staff really handled the service well and did a great job checking on tables and making sure everything was kept neat for arriving guests!
Easter Brunch was a Huge disappointment, we arrived for reservation the first table was up against a pole for 2 people at main entrance by pool! No thank you, we asked to have another table not a problem, now the problem begins seated waiting, waiting & waiting 15 min. KNOW ONE ever came over to offer us water or be right w/you NOTHING, everyone around us had either already eaten & enjoying, so I really can’t say that it was out of control busy, we are frequently regulars here & was a huge disappointment we ended up leaving! We were not sure if the response to the amount of reservations were overwhelmingly for them...
We made reservations for Zu Zu. Arrived to find maitre ‘d had us moved to a buffet. After a wait they were able to find us a table. Lots of extra tables were set up in all too close proximity due to Easter. Service was slow, difficult to get coffee refills. Eggs Benedict were hard, ham dry and over cooked, and breakfast potatoes burnt.
We chose ZUZU for a nice relaxed Easter brunch with a Mid-Century Modern feel and outdoor setting. It was busy but very well organized and great service.
Hostess couldn’t find our reservation but hesitantly “squeezed” is in. They asked if they could sit our party of 5 at a 4 top all the while acting as if they were doing us a favor. The waiter made up for the borderline rude hostess, however. Attentive, patient and thorough. And the food was good. Not sure that’s enough to get us to come back though.
Outstanding restaurant! Food is truly distinctive. Best restaurant I have been too in many weeks. Great service. And the '50s permeates the design, furniture, walls, etc. Don't miss it when you are in Phoenix/Scottsdale.
Great brunch menu
This is a must every time we are in the Scottsdale/ Phoenix area. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. We usually stay at the Valley Ho also, so having 24 hour room service is a bonus. Excellent food!!
This is one of the best steaks I have had. The salads are incredible. The service is always top notch. This isn’t just another hotel restaurant. This is our go to while staying in Scottsdale! The hardest part about dining at ZuZu is deciding what to order. And don’t miss breakfast!!
Girlfriend’s smoothie was forgotten about, and after reminding the waiter it was delivered 15 min after my drink. It was runny and thin, so had obviously been sitting for awhile. On the flip side, staff was very accommodating when we asked to be moved from an incredibly sunny table to one with an umbrella for shade, and food was very good.
food was mostly good. I had chicken and my husband fish, our friends each got the filet and it was so small, medalion-like and quite overcooked. My husband and I really enjoyed our meals, but not our friends.
Extremely lucky to have ZuZu within our walking distance. This trendy spot is worth a visit.
Went to ZuZu for a special birthday. The hostess called after making the res indicating there was a special event and seating inside would be noisy, so we chose to sit outside. She also said the birthday girl would be provided a special dessert. Once we were seated and drinks were ordered, the first round came out with the the triple sec in my dry vodka martini and none in the Cosmo. The exchange was no problem except for the 15 minute wait. The food was OK, but at the price levels certainly didn't distinguish itself. Once the band started we asked for the outside '50s music to be turned off, the manager couldn't figure out how to accomplish that. After waiting for some time we finally took our wine in and sat in the lounge, the music was really good. The waiter never did mention the special occasion or ask about the dessert. Overall pretty disappointing.
Food was awesome. It took our server more than 10 minutes to come to the table. He was quite inattentive. Food was great. Ask for a booth.
Service was good. The food was just ok.
Food was very good and service was great. Scallops were delicious as was the salmon.
Exceeded our expectations. Zach was terrific! Food was amazing.
The 4 course Valentine menu was out of this world. We shared the seafood platter which was delicious. The salad was sublime. My pasta with lobster was incredible and the chocolate dessert was decadent. One of the best meals I’ve ever had!
Ambiance was great! So cute & retro. Loved all the windows. A very old Hollywood or Beverly Hills sort of feeling.
Food was fantastic. I had the biscuits & gravy. It came with a beautiful piece of crispy fried chicken. So good! Mother in law had the Valley Ho breakfast. Her ham was wonderful, as were the grits. The best thing by FAR was my husband's Country fried steak. The idea of American cheese melted on the top of it sounded really offputting to us(who eats American cheese, right?!?!), but let me tell you.....the chefs know what they're doing! You may want to relinquish a little control when you eat here & keep an open mind to get the best of the experience. It was served atop a waffle with roasted brussel sprouts along side for the ride. A totally solid dish!!!
The only thing lacking slightly was the service. Everyone was very kind, friendly & for the most part, attentive. But my Mother in law's grits came with no spoon. Her English muffin came with no jam, as the menu stated. And her tea pot came without a tea cup...or any drinking receptacle. When asked, these things were gladly given to us (instead of a teacup, she was given a clunky coffee cup), but it's little things like this, the attention to detail, and making certain the diner has everything they could possibly need to enjoy their meal, that sets one dining experience apart from the rest. We still tipped well over 20% as they were small, yet noticeable oversights. And again, the servers were all genuinely, very kind.
Otherwise, a wonderful experience & we WILL be back (at least my husband & I will...probably sans my mother in law. She's a bit pickier than us & the service oversights seemed to really bother her. She assumed our server was "new")
The gnocchi appetizer was mouth watering so happy we ordered it thanks to our servers suggestion! I ordered a filet and my boyfriend got the chefs cut. Our food was phenomenal! But really it has to be emphasized how amazing our service was. Our server provided drink and meal suggestions that were perfect along with his upbeat fun personality. every employee we had an encounter with was incredibly friendly and pleasant to talk to. Our experience and food here could not have been better.
Went to Zuzu to try their Showstopper Shake. According to their social media postings, the share was available daily after 2:00. We got their at 2:30 and they were confused that we had an OpenTable reservation since they don't take reservations in the afternoon and they weren't serving regular menu (huh?). Didn't matter, there was plenty of seating outside, the weather was beautiful, and the lounge (bar) menu had sandwiches and apps, plus drinks, so plenty to eat. We asked for the shake first, in case it was too filling and we couldn't eat lunch after. The waitress came back and said the chef couldn't make the shake at that time. What?? Since that was the whole purpose of our visit, I suggested to my husband that we leave, but he said we should stay since we were already there. We ordered sandwiches. Shortly after the waitress returned and told us the pastry chef COULD make us a shake (um, ok) so we ordered it. The shake was amazing - definitely needs to be shared but presentation was gorgeous and it tasted yummy (we were there in Feb 2018 and shake was red velvet cupcake with cream cheese milkshake). Not long after our shake was brought out, our sandwiches were served (really too close together). Sandwiches were really good - I had California Turkey BLT and my husband had the burger; we both enjoyed our sandwiches. Chips served with sandwiches were especially tasty! Next time I will call to confirm when we can order the shake and we will order and enjoy that first and then see if we really want (can fit) lunch. Waitress was good but I feel like the timing of food could be improved.
This was our first experience here. My wife had the steak special and I ate a small portion. We both thought it was very tasty though we have had better. The portion was large and cooked just right medium rare.
I had the fish special again very good. Nevertheless the portion was quite small.
We went with a coupon and will return only with a coupon
Our first time eating at this restaurant. The reviews were good, so our party expected to enjoy it; however, it was even better than we assumed. The service was outstanding. There was a good variety of menu items so that everyone in our group was able to find dishes that they could and would eat. We were quite impressed with every aspect of our meal. Definitely a repeater.
Healthy food choices and all really delicious!
Zu Zu never disappoints. It’s my “go to” for any lunch where making a great impression counts. The team running this restaurant and the excellent service staff should run clinics for other hotel eateries. Oh, and the food....creative, delicious and a great value!
Went for brunch and asked to get our 2 bloody mary's with the meal. They have a very nice "make your own" bloody bar, but the server brings your glass with vodka. After reminding him we ordered 2 bloody mary's when the food came, he said he'd bring the glasses right over.
Just as I was finishing my meal, he finally shows up with the 2 glasses that appeared to have around an eye dropper of vodka, and I canceled the order for them. I explained we wanted them with our meals and he just said "OK". No apology for not bringing them sooner. I would have expected something other than that as a response.
Great food, attentive service in a true retro environs. Be sure to try the cinnamon roll doughnuts-very decadent. Great eggs Benedict. We will add to our list to frequent Zu Zu.
Everything was wonderful, as always! We were celebrating our anniversary and the menu and cocktail list looked fantastic online. We are late diners as well and appreciate that they are open late. We had the scallops and the pork belly/loin dishes at the recommendation of our server, Garret. Both were delicious! Garret was very attentive and made wonderful cocktail recommendations as well. Obadiah Parker, a local musician, was an unexpected but highly welcomed addition as the entertainment for the evening. We will definitely be back!
Fantastic experience with Zack my server. He recommended exactly the right amount of small plates and in the right order with the right wine pairings. The food was delicious. The yellowtail hamachi crudo was outstanding!!! The peanut butter cheesecake with lime and fresh blackberries was a delightful way to end my meal.
This is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere! We always dine at Zu Zu when we are in Scottsdale. The food and service are outstanding! Alexander is our favorite server :)
Great service, great ambiance, food....not so great
Food was tasty and presented well, but we had to send two dishes back because they were not hot. Server was amazing about all of it.
Always have a good experience at Hotel Valley Ho and ZuZu. We made lunch reservations because it was Christmas Day but they were very slow. Had an Orange Breeze cocktail (my favorite) at the bar before lunch. Had the ZuZu burger and “double fried” fries. Service was spectacular. Ordered the “showstopper” shake for dessert and it didn’t disappoint. We live in the neighborhood and always enjoy dropping by for drinks and dining.
