Ambiance was great! So cute & retro. Loved all the windows. A very old Hollywood or Beverly Hills sort of feeling.
Food was fantastic. I had the biscuits & gravy. It came with a beautiful piece of crispy fried chicken. So good! Mother in law had the Valley Ho breakfast. Her ham was wonderful, as were the grits. The best thing by FAR was my husband's Country fried steak. The idea of American cheese melted on the top of it sounded really offputting to us(who eats American cheese, right?!?!), but let me tell you.....the chefs know what they're doing! You may want to relinquish a little control when you eat here & keep an open mind to get the best of the experience. It was served atop a waffle with roasted brussel sprouts along side for the ride. A totally solid dish!!!
The only thing lacking slightly was the service. Everyone was very kind, friendly & for the most part, attentive. But my Mother in law's grits came with no spoon. Her English muffin came with no jam, as the menu stated. And her tea pot came without a tea cup...or any drinking receptacle. When asked, these things were gladly given to us (instead of a teacup, she was given a clunky coffee cup), but it's little things like this, the attention to detail, and making certain the diner has everything they could possibly need to enjoy their meal, that sets one dining experience apart from the rest. We still tipped well over 20% as they were small, yet noticeable oversights. And again, the servers were all genuinely, very kind.
Otherwise, a wonderful experience & we WILL be back (at least my husband & I will...probably sans my mother in law. She's a bit pickier than us & the service oversights seemed to really bother her. She assumed our server was "new")
The gnocchi appetizer was mouth watering so happy we ordered it thanks to our servers suggestion! I ordered a filet and my boyfriend got the chefs cut. Our food was phenomenal! But really it has to be emphasized how amazing our service was. Our server provided drink and meal suggestions that were perfect along with his upbeat fun personality. every employee we had an encounter with was incredibly friendly and pleasant to talk to. Our experience and food here could not have been better.
This was our first experience here. My wife had the steak special and I ate a small portion. We both thought it was very tasty though we have had better. The portion was large and cooked just right medium rare.
I had the fish special again very good. Nevertheless the portion was quite small.

Our first time eating at this restaurant. The reviews were good, so our party expected to enjoy it; however, it was even better than we assumed. The service was outstanding. There was a good variety of menu items so that everyone in our group was able to find dishes that they could and would eat. We were quite impressed with every aspect of our meal. Definitely a repeater.
Zu Zu never disappoints. It’s my “go to” for any lunch where making a great impression counts. The team running this restaurant and the excellent service staff should run clinics for other hotel eateries. Oh, and the food....creative, delicious and a great value!
Went for brunch and asked to get our 2 bloody mary's with the meal. They have a very nice "make your own" bloody bar, but the server brings your glass with vodka. After reminding him we ordered 2 bloody mary's when the food came, he said he'd bring the glasses right over.
Just as I was finishing my meal, he finally shows up with the 2 glasses that appeared to have around an eye dropper of vodka, and I canceled the order for them. I explained we wanted them with our meals and he just said "OK". No apology for not bringing them sooner. I would have expected something other than that as a response.
Everything was wonderful, as always! We were celebrating our anniversary and the menu and cocktail list looked fantastic online. We are late diners as well and appreciate that they are open late. We had the scallops and the pork belly/loin dishes at the recommendation of our server, Garret. Both were delicious! Garret was very attentive and made wonderful cocktail recommendations as well. Obadiah Parker, a local musician, was an unexpected but highly welcomed addition as the entertainment for the evening. We will definitely be back!
Fantastic experience with Zack my server. He recommended exactly the right amount of small plates and in the right order with the right wine pairings. The food was delicious. The yellowtail hamachi crudo was outstanding!!! The peanut butter cheesecake with lime and fresh blackberries was a delightful way to end my meal.
Always have a good experience at Hotel Valley Ho and ZuZu. We made lunch reservations because it was Christmas Day but they were very slow. Had an Orange Breeze cocktail (my favorite) at the bar before lunch. Had the ZuZu burger and “double fried” fries. Service was spectacular. Ordered the “showstopper” shake for dessert and it didn’t disappoint. We live in the neighborhood and always enjoy dropping by for drinks and dining.
I made reservations for my family of 8 to have Christmas Brunch. They had two options for dinning. In the restaurant with specials and full menu or in the Sands bldg there was buffet. We choose the buffet. It was wonderful. They had fantastic array of many different dishes. The service was excellent. The dining room and patio area was very festive. I will absolutely recommend this event. Thank you Hotel Valley Ho for making our Christmas special.
We had a group of eight with reservations. They were ready for us, and the service was first rate. The food was excellent, and there was something for everyone. I was impressed with the menu. The great service really made it special. The server was prompt, pleasant, gave us plenty of space for conversation and took care of everyone. The food arrived all together, with no one waiting for their meal. In a party of 8, that's pretty good!!! Would go back in a heartbeat. The decor is awesome. They have great poolside tables as well.
Went for Thanksgiving special dinner and to celebrate a birthday. I indicated in my reservation, and confirmed when my the restaurant called to confirm my reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. There was no acknowledgement of a Birthday celebration when we arrived. They had a nice outdoor seating area, when we asked if we could sit outside, we were told no. The service was very slow. We sat for 15 minuets before our waitress came over to see if we wanted drinks. The food was ok, but the rolls were stale and the portions were small. I was very disappointed with our Thanksgiving meal.
lovely, unique brunch spot with mimosa and bloody mary bar! our reservations were for the 10am on the patio and it started off lovely, but we ended up moving inside to the bar after eating around 11am, because the sun was moving and it was getting HOT! The many patio umbrellas weren't enough shade for our table, although the majority of other tables were completely shaded. The bar area is fun and retro with table seating options as well as at the bar.
ZuZu is one of my standbys, a completely reliable venue for any meal of the day, including cocktails and Sunday Brunch, which was the occasion of my most recent visit when I sampled a couple of new southwestern egg dishes, both well-spiced, tasty and utterly satisfying. The Valley Ho’s and Zu Zu’s ambiance are from the mid-50s to the mid-60s and are generally fun. I take meals there by myself but also choose it when I’m with friends who enjoy well-prepared meals and with whom I want to relax and catch up. I recommend it for any occasion.
A group of friends and I were there for a birthday celebration & we had a blast! I ordered a drink that I didn't like and gave it to my friend across the table. The server noticed that and brought me another drink that he thought would be to more of my liking - without asking me. It was a very nice thing to do and made me realize he was paying attention to our table even when he wasn't right by us. The food was fantastic as well. OMG the show stopper shake - AMAZING!
The 1950s architecture and vibe of this hotel is the coolest. The lighting at night is very dramatic, and it gives both a chic and cozy feel. The bar menu is extensive and offers great, fresh options. The patio is large and provides a great outdoor dining option. Our server was prompt and attentive and confidently guided us toward delicious options. The duck and mushroom tagliatelle was fabulous, and the scallops were incredibly fresh. As far as Ceasar salads go, the kale and Brussel sprout Caesar was large and flavorful. Don't skip the cheddar popover!
We made reservations at Zuzu for restaurant week. When we arrived we were sat promptly and were delighted to find out that they also had a half off wine list! Our server was fantastic and helped us choose a delicious Chardonnay. The food was excellent and perfectly prepared. After dinner we moved to the cocktail area to enjoy the live music which was also fantastic. Would definitely recommend!
