Zuzda Ratings and Reviews
Third time eating here. They really reduced the menu, too many changes. The food was still very good however very limited choices now. Liked the previous menu better.....they also cut back days of operation.
Prices aren't bad for the area. Service was very good, attentive. I would recommend they keep to what they do/did best.....tapas.
Zuzda has changed their menu since we first started dining there but they still have all of our favorites. Don't miss the dynamite sushi rolls, chicken francaise, bang bang shrimp & fresh trout because they are always scrumptious! This time we also tried the chicken pot pie, prime rib sliders and fresh grouper fingers and we loved all of it! Our group always shares so we can try a huge variety and that's the way to go at Zuzda... Except for dessert-we don't share that because it's just too delicious to share! We did discover how tasty the tempura pineapple and caramel Brie were together and will definitely have that combo again! Wine selection is great too! Can't wait to go back soon!
As many others have found, this restaurant is a gem. Excellent food and a nicely varied tapas menu, pleasant and attentive service, and elegant decor made for a great introduction. There are several other restaurants in Banner Elk that we've liked, but this tops the list.
For being a small restaurant in Banner Elk, NC our party of 3 was incredibly pleased. We ordered 6+ dishes (entrees and dessert) and everything was great. Generous portions for tapas (more than we could eat truthfully) the food was well seasoned and had great flavors, and a variety of menu choices.
Our waitress was friendly and helpful in recommending some of her favorite tapas. Would definitely recommend Zuzda.
We left early because the service was so slow. Our salads took about 15 minutes to come out and it took 40 minutes for our main dishes to arrive. We overheard others talking that the lobster special was taking so much prep time the kitchen staff couldn't keep pace with the other orders. Rebecca was great... We liked her.
Great place to go if you want a variety of tastes. The waitstaff is ALWAYS great. My tea glass never got below half full. The food has changed some, the filet had no seasoning, but the seafood dishes were great. Did not have the "frozen" taste that you usually get this far away from the coast. The covered outdoor area is a good place to sit and relax. The bar always seems to be a happening place. If you have never been, try the Zucchini Friti appetizer, its enough for two.
My food was basic-it's small expensive plates (tapas style). I ordered the chicken Marsala-nothing more than canned mushroom, diced chicken with brown gravy poured over it. My boyfriend had the saffron chicken which was very good. Also ordered tempura shrimp for appetizer which came out at the end of the meal.
My husband and I shared 3 small plates and a couple glasses of wine. We felt very full and satisfied (and had completed a long bike ride that day so we were hungry). The trout and salmon dishes were fantastic. The restaurant was nice appointed and we like that it was not too loud. We really enjoyed ourselves and will return next time we visit Banner Elk.
If you love food like I do, and want to taste a little of everything, this is the place.. All portions are snack sized and full of amazing flavor and presentation. Decor is unique and service is excellent.. Wish we had one by home... So try them out, you will glad you did.
Zuzda was definitely a one of a kind place, the food was on point but as far as aesthetics go you are really lacking. I felt like they got all of their decorations from a consignment store. If you would just renovate your restaurant I would recommend this to everyone. You've got great food, you're just stuck in the past.
While on vacation in Banner Elk my wife researched local restaurants in the area including Boone and Blowing Rock to have Christmas Eve dinner. Most of the restaurants were closed because it was Christmas Eve. But, Zuzda's was open. We had no idea what to expect, but Man, was this an amazing place to have dinner!!! The food was some of the best that we've eaten and the service was wonderful. I travel for work and dine out about 4 days per week. Zuzda's is in the Top 10 of my all-time favorite restaurants. I wish that there was one in my home town.
We hadn't been to Zuzda for a few years and are so glad we renewed our acquaintance with this restaurant!! Each Tapas dish was wonderful and the portions are generous. Our wait person was very attentive and there was just enough time between each dish to savor each one. Will not wait a few years to return!!!
We try to get to Zuzda every year during our timeshare trip. Tapas are always fun and Zuzda does a great job. Definitely a little something for everyone!
We were there during football season so it was GREAT to get to sneak to the bar and check out the game. :)
Five friends got together for a weekend in Beech Mountian to quilt, sew and enjoy some wine on the deck. Our first stop Friday night was Zuzda's. We were amazed at the enourmous list of choices for tapas. We ordered 2 each and enjoyed every bite! I enjoyed the mountain trout and gargonzola stuffec artichokes-delicious!! A perfect sized meal that left room for a yummy dessert. Will go back in October and definately want to eat there again.
