The Zut! Bar offers locally crafted spirits and wines. An extensive selection of apertifs and amaros as well as a focus on Italian, French, and Spanish varietals will complement the seasonal menu.
Greet food and beautiful atmosphere.
We inhaled our food and had amazing dessert!
Everything was delicious. The beet salad was a great combination of flavors. I will be back!
Seated at a good table. Service was excellent. We have had this waitress several times and each time great. Food was great. Large serving.
Love Zut - great food, great bar
The food was good, the service was good, and they were very understanding about one of our party being late. We had a 7:30 reservation on Thanksgiving Day. However, they ran out of turkey and one of our party could not eat either of the two choices left. The waiter did not offer another choice. Someone else (perhaps the manager?) came to the table and offered a pork chop, which she accepted. We were all looking forward to pumpkin pie for dessert, but when it came it was very tiny. The waiter confided that the supply of pie was also running low, so the pieces began getting smaller. Also, the soup was only lukewarm. But in spite of all this, we enjoyed ourselves. I do wish the prices weren’t so high though.
We've been to this restaurant numerous time, but this was our first Thanksgiving meal here. Food was nothing special and totally overpriced. $75 fixed price for a mini salad and a salmon/ or turkey dinner. The turkey with no vegetables and a small dish of some blackberry jam? No cranberries? A small piece of pie was included, but we were not even offered coffee, which should have been included in the meal. The restaurant was not full, yet the wait staff clearly wanted us out of there asap. There was just no atmosphere.
Would not recommend this restaurant for Thanksgiving
The prix fixe menu for Thanksgiving dinner was a simplistic offering with really bad food, something akin to a bad cafeteria or a Sizzler. I don't think our expectations were too high. We were simply looking for decent food with pleasant service. We got decent enough service with awful food, poorly prepared and served without imagination. I don't know what Zut's regular menu offering is like, but this was so badly done, I would not risk another bad meal with these people.
Amazing for the holiday meal delicious and festive decor
Brought family visiting from out of town and had to apologize for this unfortunate uninspired dinner. For the amount we spent for this "holiday" meal I would not recommend Zut Tavern to anyone going forward. Even at half the cost I would advise against this establishment. I have had wonderful dinners there in the past but it's clear this restaurant has gone way down hill....sorry to say.
Thanksgiving Garbage. Overpriced, terrible service, do not go here.
We love dining at Zut! For all occasions but after a 14 hour ride back to the Bay Area the day before Thanksgiving, we LOVED that we chose Zut! For dining out for Thanksgiving...a wonderful traditional meal with fantastic wine pairings in such a relaxed atmosphere...perfect decision!
Zut served a multi course Thanksgiving meal with optional wine pairing. Two of three people in our party opted for the wine pairing. Our server had a little difficulty getting the wine to the table with each course but other than that annoyance, we throughly enjoyed ourselves. And we were grateful to Zut Tavern for providing a Thanksgiving experience that required no effort on our part!
Poor service. Food was ok but overpriced. Courses came out of order and incorrect. Slow overall.
Food was not hot when it came.
Pleasant atmosphere...but very noisy. Food is consistently good.
Great service, great food, friendly manager
The waiter was exceptional. Just the right touch for 3 ladies just wanting to catch up. Attentive, not obtrusive ... made my two friends coming from Walnut Creek and Fairfield want to come to Berkeley again. Thank you for yet another positive experience at Zut!
Food and service, the ambiance are all good. the bar is more than adequate. But unless you sit outside or huddle at the bar, the noise level can be very high, especially in the room at the south end of the establishment, as happened to us this past sunday afternoon. there were no seats outside, ad we had to sit at the bar to hear each other's speak while enjoying our lunch.
Great lunch. We all had the delicious spinach salad with chicken. Excellent chocolate dessert!
Great service. Very accommodating staff, they seated me while I waited for my guest who was detained in traffic. They didn’t rush us while we finished the meal & stayed at our table to chat over coffee. Definitely recommend this restaurant for quiet conversation & comfort food, salads, sandwiches, good choice of wine & drinks. It’s geared to older adults, relaxed, quiet ambience.
Server was really nice. Not too impressed with the menu but my sister liked the salmon. My tomato salad was ok and my soup too spicy to be enjoyable.
All the food was delicious. My family had the pork chops which they loved. My ravioli was very good with a light cream and vegetable sauce. Cocktails were well made. The main draw back is that the dining room was very chilly. We all kept on our jackets through most of the meal. The room was quite noisy but quieted as the restaurant thinned our. Zut is reliably good and I will return
Dinner overall was good. However at some point, the outside heater was shut off. Didn’t realize it until it became very chilly. Maybe it was a signal for us to leave although the restaurant was still open.
An excellent place to bring a first date.
Good ambience and location.
Nice place, friendly, attentive staff, good food, prompt service, a bit pricey for what you get but hey, it's 4th St.
Always love Zut. My friend and I like to share so we had the brussels sprouts as an appetizer - excellent as always. We shared a salad and the salmon entrée. Everything was delicious. We started with two of their signature martinis and they were great too. Zut is a special spot on 4th Street in Berkeley - one of my go-to places in the East Bay.
We had a delightful server who made the experience perfect. What a pleasure to have a smile, attention to detail but not someone who wanted to chat when you want to eat. She sure was a pro.
I went here with my wife for our wedding anniversary. The interior is beautiful. We were seated next to the window, which gave us a nice view of 4th Street in Berkeley. Food was very good, and service was good. Overall, an enjoyable experience.
Nothing fancy here, but pretty good food. We go here regularly, mainly for the quality of the food. Service is a bit sketch. Food seems to arrive out of order regularly and if there is more than one diner, the odds of everyone's order arriving within a reasonable interval are slim. Last visit, my daughter side order of broccolini was the first thing delivered, before anyone's starter or salad! Her main arrived 15 minutes later!! But service quirkiness aside, it is still one of our favorites. Feel assured ordering the duck breast, a pizza (margherita is one of my favorites), or even a hamburger. I always have the Kumamoto oysters which have always been fresh, as they must be! The menu varies but the pork chop and t-bone are all good. We have been for lunch a few times as well and we always find something good. Even you just feel like a soup and a salad it is a good destination to consider.
Wonderful evening. Bottle of Veuve paired with the Fig app and great service, landed me a second date. Thank you!
Nice all around. I’d definitely return.
Fun-we had lunch at the bar; great food and service. I enjoyed the BLTA panini and the Maltese cocktail was very good/very balanced. great service
Good service, good food. Conversations can be a little difficult due to noise level.
The Brussel sprouts are worth the trip alone! But the rest of our lunch was high quality, beautifully prepared and presented. We loved it!
I haven't been to this restaurant for a couple of years. Recently had a concert at Zellerbach and thought we would go back. It seriously has gone down hill! It used to be a delightful restaurant and good food. My recent experience with a party of 3 was terrible. We ordered pizza, salads, appetizers all tasteless and seriously terrible. They must have changed chefs because it definitely is not at the caliber it was a couple of years ago! I will never go back.
I recommend Zut reservedly because, although the pizzas are good, the overall quality and value just aren’t there. For example eight grilled rather skinny asparagus on a plate do not constitute a starter for nine dollars. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. Go for the burger or a large salad or pizza for an early dinner and call it a day.
A very pleasant manager greeted us and folk us to our table. A few minutes later he sheepishly returned and asked if we wouldn’t mind changing tables as he had a large group come in. he offered us our choice of tables and said that for our agreement to move, that he would comp us our drinks! That is beautiful customer service! Especially when the cocktails were delicious!
So we sat on the patio surrounded by twinkly lights and We shared several dishes: roasted Brussel sprouts, figs on a bed of lemony ricotta, a fresh salad of smoked salmon and caprese. All of which were prettily plated and very tasty! Finished off with a cappuccino - the night was lovely !
There was a particularly loud table near us tonight, but usually when we go in the noise level is a bit lower. They changed the house Manhattan recipe recently, and I didn’t notice until I started drinking it. Not so good this version. But it’s a great place with nice folks, generally awesome bar program, and good food. One of our local faves.
Good bar abd bartenders, lovely atonosphere on 4th St; locatiobn great.
Very solid good food, a perfect place for lunch. Bright and airy with very friendly and efficient staff.
