Nice atmosphere, good service, great margaritas and decent food. Would recommend but it would not be my first choice.
I always enjoy the food (and margaritas!) at Z'Tejas, service was great as well.
The food and was very good. The service was outstanding. Very friendly staff. Nice outdoor area (with some traffic noise from Tatum and Shea).
My favorite menu item has always been the seafood enchilada. Unfortuntely, they have changed the item since the last time we were there. The previous item was excellent. The new version is ok.
Good food, fast service
Great food & service.
This location is always good, clean & have the friendliest staff. Gretchen was our waitress and was very attentive. Please keep this location open. It has been my favorite since moving to Arizona.
We had not been to Phoenix in a number of years. We were disappointed to learn that Z’Tejas at Scottsdale Fashion Square had closed. We decided to go out to the one on Tatum Blvd. The service was slow because our waitress had way too many tables. But, it was the food that was most disappointing. My memory of Z’Tejas was of a large menu with very well-prepared and flavorful dishes. My shrimp fajitas were dry and the veggies were undercooked. My wife’s salad got good marks, so I guess I ordered the wrong entree. In a crowded field, Z’Tejas no longer competes.
I am from Texas and have yet to find good Mexican food in the Scottsdale area. Most have been too bland or too much grease. Had high hopes since ZTesjas is from Texas. Average at best.. Not enough spice/flavor for me. Still looking.
Had a great waitress and the food was excellent. Overall service was very good too. We will definitely be returning.
Love this restaurant. Food is always amazing, and you can’t beat their Chambord margaritas.
Food was excellent. Service was incredibly slow, restaurant was empty. After ordering 5 orders of salmon, the waiter came back and said there were only 3 available. After 10 minutes, he came back and said there was only 1. Took way too long for our meals. Manager apologized and comped desert. Go only if you have plenty of time to wait.
Great food - I loved their fish tacos and margaritas. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our experience very much!
Enjoyed our meal at ZTejas. There were a lot of varied items on the menu and the cornbread was great. We actually went back on Super Bowl Sunday to get some cornbread to go to have with our chili at home.
We come here every time we visit AZ from the East Coast, which is several times a year. No matter what hotel we're in, we make a point of finding our way to Z Tejas Grill. Excellent veggie options, great Margaritas, plus homemade cornbread included with the meal. Indoor seating that's not too loud, and comfortable outdoor seating too. Any attire within reason goes. Love it!
the corn bread is among the tops in the valley. the mexican food is well prpared and presented
In addition to the usual Tex-Mex offerings, they have some innovative items, like a chicken avocado stack and a crispy salmon. I wouldn't get the house margaritas again-too sweet. Happy hour is a great deal and it goes until 7:00.
The appetizer Queso was very good and the cornbread was also tasty. Not the usual flavors for Tex-Mex in the entrees. Chicken enchiladas seemed to have an odd spice flavor that I wasn’t expecting. I will try a different place next time.
Just an average restaurant with micro wave dishes. good service and nice atmosphere
Food is not as good as it used to be. Miso salmon has little taste and the chicken in the Diablo Pasta has grizzle in every single bite. Margaritas and chips con queso were excellent.
6th Grade Dance for our daughters. Dinner before the holiday dance.
Food is always good, service very good and atmosphere lovely.
It was terrible. Our server didn't give us our cornbread until we were getting ready to leave. Food was served cold. Server put the check on the table while we were having our entrees. Band was WAY too loud. Won't be back...
This restaurant used to be good, but has since deteriorated in value and quality. The interior decor is dated and in need of an update. The food, while decent, is way overpriced. We had two salads and two ice teas, and the bill with tip was over $50! If I'm going to spend that much for lunch, I'm going to a place where the atmosphere and quality match the price tag. Not returning.
Food was excellent, esp chorizo stuffed tenderloin. Service was not only efficient but friendly. Despite a good crowd it was quiet enough for pleasant conversation.
Chicken maybe ght have been a bit overcooked though.
great tex Mex, wide it were in Houston woodlands area..it would be a big hit, PFChangs upscale food for Chinese equivalent for Tex Mex
Service was very slow , server was inattentive.
Salmon was not cooked enough. Service was really poor. Only good thing was the corn bread!
PROs: Clean, healthy, great staff & service. Love the variety AND the quality of deliverables. High marks on all.
CONs: Only one, when crowded, it gets too noisy for normal conversation. Husband and I were there two times in one week (traveled to Scottsdale for a week of golf-fun). Our first day, we dropped in and found it to be so good (reference above PROs) that when we met friends a couple nights later, we suggested same restaurant. Second time, unfortunately, it was busier and we found it difficult to hear one another. All-in-all, that would NOT stop us from returning though. Love everything else (so much) about this restaurant that we would must definitely return. Thanks for the opportunity to share & continued success to you all!
The music was so loud we couldn't have a conversation. In addition the band was terrible. We have been frequent customers for many years. Based on this awful experience, we will not return if there is a band.
Southwestern themed food is always consistent and tasty. Our waitress, Bailey was outstanding and made sure we had everything we needed.
Their margaritas are a signature item.
Great Happy Hour.!
Stephanie was our waitress and I could tell she loves her job because she knew the menu like it was her autobiography and she made sure we were ok, just the right number of times. Steph prepared the guacamole at our table and it was the best guacamole we have EVER had at a restaurant. I had the burrito and I’d place it as one of the best I’ve ever eaten. We will be returning to this restaurant.
Excellent food and service. One glitch was that my credit card was not returned with the check. Fortunately, it was quickly returned after I notified the server.
Great food and super nice staff. Didn't know that they were still open here, but definitely will return.
We live be ZTejas, definitely one of our all time favorites! Great food, fun atmosphere, great service!
Pretty bummed wanted chicken fried steak and it’s gone. Service was rushed. Filet was undercooked. No extra plate for sharing. No extra knife anything we asked seemed like a trouble. No offer of second drink or desserts.
Very pleased to see Z’Tejas offer a customer appreciation day. Great margaritas. My daughter loves their chambord (frozen) I prefer the Sixth Street. My favorite app is the shrimp tostadas— great bites. Steak and shrimp street tacos are tasty. Have not had a bad meal. Service is consistent.
Food was good and so was the service. It was a bit noisy, very crowded by the bar area so it was difficult to get to the restrooms with a lot of people standing in a small crowded area. My biggest complaint was the new policy regarding the salsa that comes with the chips. They used to have a mild red salsa which we liked. Now the waiter said they give one option per visit. It was far too hot and spicy, and you could not get the mild red sauce as an alternative. I think they should always have the mild sauce available for those who don't like the spicy kind. Change just for the sake of change is not always a good choice, so that part was disappointing.
Went for HH. Great appetizers and drinks
