Enjoyed the atmosphere and the afternoon tea time with my little daughter and her ( little princess afternoon tea ).
Amazing service. Great food. Beautiful setting. A lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon .
We came for afternoon tea.
The food was good. The sandwiches were the best. The desserts were a little too sweet for my liking but that’s just a personal preference. I can see why other people would love it! The scones were okay. You need to have the spread for it to take better. We ordered the creamy earl grey and it was more fruity and sweet then what I expected.
The service wasn’t the best for what I was expecting from a place inside the Fairmont Chateau. Our server wasn’t that tentative to us which I understand because it was busy but it was clear he was paying more attention to everyone else. Our utensils were dirty upon coming to the table so it was little annoying trying to get the attention of our server to get it replaced. He never came to check up on us either.
Overall, it was a good experience. The price is fair for afternoon tea! You get a lot.
The portions were a bit small for the price but the taste was delicious!
Great service, delicious food, and romantic setting. Highly recommend.
We both had the steak-frite and both
Were too cooked which resulted in a very hard meat. We were very disappointed. ☹️☹️
The food was ok, but I expected more, nothing special. The dessert was the best part.
Probably the afternoon tea it's better than dinner.
Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. The food is good, but a bit expensive. Went there for the afternoon tea. Was worth it though.
Beautiful setting and friendly service from Tracey. Grilled octopus was delicious. Roasted chickpeas was average.
Food was delicious. The Creme Brulee was amazing. Our server made our night great, and offered his input into which dishes to try. Ambience was very relaxing. Would be nice for a date night later in the evening.
We were celebrating the two most special women in my life. My mother and my daughter. Everything was perfect and they were able to accommodate my request for a seat by the window. Superb.
Incredible High Tea! A little pricey but worth it.
Order the statesman , order the statesman., even if you think you don't drink order the statesman. This drink is a total experience! You see it , you smell it and you taste it - it's delicious.
Afternoon tea is a must experience at Fairmont.
Had an amazing time, the service was excellent and the bites and tea were so tasty!
Our server took super care of us. The limited menu (Covid) had adequate choices. The filet and Braised short rib were both done to perfection and the house sorbet to finish was a nice light touch. Everybody was super cognizant of the covid situation making us feel very safe and well taken care of!
This is a great treat for a special event and spending quality time enjoying the experience and the company. The food and service were exquisite. Could almost be in the UK for afternoon tea, except for the scenery.
Excellent service and very good food. Creative cocktails as well. Really enjoyed our visit.
Took my Husband there for his birthday. We had great service from Nicole and could not have asked for more. The selections of sandwiches and treats were a mix of traditional and inventive choices. All delish
I have been having afternoon tea at the Chateau for a long time, so change is difficult. I miss the tea cart (now it is a book of teas) and just traditional tea sandwiches (now it is very frou frou). I already mentioned this pre-Covid and did some research (the Empress has a choice of traditional or this frou frou one).
However, Covid has me wanting to do special things as much as possible so when afternoon tea started up again, I just had to go. Service was friendly and helpful. It was nice to be back. However, we would like traditional tea sandwiches and more of them and less desserts. Scones and jam and clotted cream, with tea, yum. We also had good cocktails to start to welcome back Zoe’s and afternoon tea!
The food was too expensive for what they serve. The octopus was burnt to the point there was no glaze as per the description and tasted horrible. The Caesar Salad was the WORST for $18! I am not sure how you mess that up but the additional $12 (so $30 salad) included 4 shrimp that was uncooked, no flavour, dry, and seemed to be from an old cocktail ring that was sitting out all day. The bacon had a disgusting aftertaste that we thought was from the morning leftover bacon. It had a weird colour making me believe if I ate any more I could get sick. The server took my full plate and didn't want to ask if there was a problem with the food, making me believe they have this problem all the time.
Our server Nicole was outstanding. She went out of her way to make our experience wonderful and encouraged us to come back soon.
This is usually my go to place. I am aware Covid has taken a toll on a lot of businesses. But after staying at the Fairmont in Tremblant and then eating at the fairmont Ottawa, there is a lot of fixing that needs to be done. Stale fries/ onion soup that was filled with bread/ short rib that were dry... this is not 5 star.
I expected way more out of a fine dining establishment.
Very happy with the food, location and service.
went there late in the evening, so it was relatively quiet. Tried grilled octopus and steak and they were really great. Also liked the drinks (statesman). Will definitely go there again, when in Ottawa!
Overall we enjoyed the afternoon tea service. The food (sandwiches, desserts and scones) were tasty and nicely presented. The tea (creamy Earl Grey) was delicious. Our primary server was very good however when the tea tray arrived, a different server presented it and she did a slip shod rushed job of describing the items on the tray. Our table was in a sunny room added on to the main dining area but the area was less than clean. The floor needed sweeping and there were crumbs, dirt and sugar spilled in spots. 60's music was playing in the adjoining dining room; somehow I had envisioned classical music or something more suited to the occasion. Our table was very wobbly but a young man was able to prop up the legs with a napkin and made it more stable. The table was also too small for the items placed on it. Everything comes at once so it did get rather crowded. It was good, one time experience. Not sure I would repeat it. Highlights were the egg salad pinwheels and the lavender tarts. And the scones were delicious.

The table was beautiful, corner with a window and lounge chair. The servers were lovely and friendly and the food was the best I've ever had
Dear Tara, We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit to Zoe’s. We look forward to welcoming you back one day. Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
It is not worth the cost. There is nothing really impressive about the quality of food, presentation or service. We had high hopes for this experience. A service to share would have been better as there is a lot of food and that's half the price!
Our mission is to turn moments into memories and I regret that we failed to do so during your recent visit to Zoe’s. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
Hotel ambience is very nice. Service was less than expected for location. Waiter didn’t come by often to check on our meal -over two hours for dinner. Managers weren’t around either to check on diners.
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us. We regret the lack of service. Hopefully, you will return one day, allowing us to show you the high level of service that we are known for! Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
This wss the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant - waited 40 minutes for a drink after being seated. Never got to order dinner becsuse we waited so long. Our waitress was rude and clearly stressed out from being too busy. Terrible experience. 0/5
Dear Paul, Your experience is certainly not typical nor is it acceptable. We pride ourselves on the personal service we provide to our guests. We hope you return one day soon, and give us the chance to delight you! Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
Overall it was a very nice lunch . The prices were high for the amount of food and wine received. I realize Ottawa is an expensive city but still. Our server Isabel was wonderful; very attentive and personable.
Dear Barbara, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. We agree that we have the best colleagues in the business. We hope to welcome you back soon. Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
High tea was good service but slow and the hostess was confused about seating saying I booked yesterday so I could not get another table I asked for yet it sat empty the whole time I was there
Dear Ann, We regret your disappointing experience and poor impression you received. This is certainly not acceptable to us. We hope you return one day, allowing us the opportunity to show you the high level of hospitality that we are known for. Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
The venue is absolutely beautiful but for the price I would not do this again. The food was not that great, there are much better afternoon tea or brunch experiences in the city.
First, it took the server 15 minutes to bring over the tea menu when several people who arrived after us received menus before us. Then she made note of my fish allergy but then forgot to leave the salmon crepe off my plate. They did not pipe the liver mousse onto my boyfriends canapé, we asked for a replacement one which they said they would bring and then forgot to do.
We got the nut free dessert option which I do not recommended so if you have a nut allergy I would really skip this. The non nut free desserts looked beautiful but the nut free options were a stale cupcake, over sweetened jelly and what tasted like store bought dry chocolate cake logs and dry chocolate mint cookies.
I had really high expectations for this since it was a Valentine’s present during winterlude. The price was an extra $10 because it was winterlude but we thought it would be worth it. I am thoroughly disappointed.
We regret your disappointing experience. Hopefully, you will give us another chance and return one day soon. We are confident you will be pleased that you did. Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
For $70 I expect clotted cream not whipping cream.
Too many sweets - should have the option of fewer sweets and more sandwiches.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. Rest assured that we will share your comments with our Executive Chef and his team. We do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back one day soon. Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
Great location, views of Ottawa downtown. Steak was excellent. I was a bit surprised that for Valentine’s menu chef selected to serve 1/2 chicken . I observed reactions from surrounding Tables where ladies ordered a chicken and were shocked to see a huge portion presented. I would expect something more of a fine-dining selection for Valentines table d'hote menu. The Statesman cocktail was a highlight! Overall , the visit was a great experience. Thank you to all staff working for us at the Valentine’s Day!
We are delighted that you Valentine’s Day celebration was a memorable one. We hope to welcome you again soon. Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
Ambience was perfect !Our server was informative and friendly. Charcuterie board 4 choices of prosciutto, blue cheese, hock meat loaf, hard cheese, almonds, cranberries, chutney, olive varieties, crackers was outstanding. We started with the non alcohol coconut drink Delicious!Mains were pork belly, steak peppercorn, & regular steak. 3 of us enjoyed this culinary experience. Exceptional service knowledgeable of history of Building. Beautiful!

I believe her name is Melissa. She was amazing and very pleasant as our server. Food was amazing and great selection of teas.
We will certainly share your compliments with Melissa. She will be pleased that you took the time to recognize her service. We are delighted that your visit was an enjoyable one and we hope to see you again soon. Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
Beautiful place to treat yourself and others for Afternoon Tea. Impeccable service with amazing tea, sandwiches and sweets.
Dear Henry, Our mission is to create memorable moments and it is always a pleasure to hear compliments from our guests. We look forward to your next visit. Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
This was a rather disappointing Afternoon Tea. On the one hand, we had an exceptional seating - lucked out and probably got the best seat in the house (comfy lounge chairs at the front corner of the hotel overlooking Sussex and Rideau), so that was fantastic!
The service and the server were both excellent. Just LOVED the whimsical tea cups and dishes, and the lovely tiered serving trays. The waitress was seasoned, unobtrusive and so friendly!
The food, however, was bland and boring. Very very disappointing. It looked so pretty, yet was exceedingly disappointing. There are far tastier high tea offerings in Ottawa.
The price was also quite exaggerated - especially given the quality of the food. A few days prior to our reservation, we received an email from the hotel advising us that the price for the tea was being increased by $10 per person adult. I pushed back and requested that the original price we booked the tea for should be respected. In response, I was re-assured that we would be given the originally booked price and that a note would be added to our reservation.
Guess what happened? We were billed the increased the price ANYWAY and, to add insult to injury, our 4 year old's tea service was jacked up as well. What an EPIC FAIL.
$175 (before gratuities!) for two adult afternoon teas and a princess tea. Just ridiculous.
Also, a note to those considering the afternoon tea. It is not like it used to be. We found that the majority of patrons were in their late teens and early twenties and were attending in groups and sharing a tea platter amongst 2 or 3 people. So it made for a loud and less civilized afternoon tea, more along the lines of a bar feeling. That can be okay if that's what you are looking for, but if you want a traditional high tea ambience, you can't get it at Zoe's anymore.
Bottom line: overpriced, bland, but pretty. Maybe spend your $$$$ elsewhere?
Dear Carla, We sincerely regret the overall disappointing experience you felt during Afternoon Tea. Your experience is not typical of our usual high standards of excellent service. We hope you return one day and allow us the chance to regain your trust and loyalty. Sincerely, Marion te Winkel Director of Operations
