Well they did not read the request for a window seat and they didn’t notice it was our anniversary. The server was fine. Very nice woman with fancy hair :) the food was good. EXCEPT FOR THE PICO FROM THE SALSA TRIO
The pico: super slimy I’m assuming from the cactus... nearly flavorless... but the slimy ness was just revolting. I get it— cactus is super high sugar so it will be slimy, but it was just too weird. It wasn’t delicious enough to be okay with the slime. Imagine watching someone drooling. That’s what the chip did every time we picked up some pico

Meh. For a Friday night at 7:30 the place was dead. Even though it wasnt busy, service was slow. Food was OK, not great and not worth the price. Margarita was good though
The service was poor. We had a reservation, arrived, and were seated with water right away. It took the waiter 10 minutes to come back to the table to get drink orders, and another 10 to serve the drinks. We did order food with the drinks - that did come efficiently. Food was of poor quality, small quantity, and over-priced. I will not go back and will not recommend the restaurant to anyone.

Been twice for lunch and the food is only so-so, while the prices are high. For a tasty Mexican lunch that’s a good value, go to Casco Antiguo instead. It’s just down the street in Pioneer Square.
Zocalo is a fine restaurant and they try to put a bit of an upscale twist on traditional Mexican dishes. For example, adding fresh shredded cabbage to pico de gallo. Interesting, but the cabbage didn’t add much and actually hid the tomatoes and jalapeños.
I had the carnitas, which can with a generous portion of black beans and roasted potatoes covered in a tomatillo sauce. No rice, so I ordered a side of it. The side was so small that’s it must have been no more than 4 tablespoons of cooked rice—seriously!
The rice was good, but not great. The beans were just average black beans, the potatoes were a bit undercooked (perhaps a bit too much tomatillo for some folks), and the carnitas were flavorful, but not outstanding.
Hard floors, wide open, two-story ceilings make for a very noisy experience.....coupled with a nasty, unidentifiable sound track completely not in theme with the restaurant and our party of three couldn't have a decent conversation without yelling across the table.
Food was good, portions were small so be prepared to order a lot of different plates.
Great place to meet friends and watch the scene on Occidental park. Food was great and service was quick and friendly even though it was packed.
The food was excellent but small portions. They charge for chips. The waiter was so slow and never even asked us if we wanted another drink—which we would have had.
This is a great location on the edge of Occidental Park in Pioneer Square. The food is good with a format the does not follow standard Mexican minus- in a good way. The beverage selections list was extensive and the service and ambiance was quite good. I would describe the food as a bit more sophisticated Mexican. I would suggest you try anything not familiar to you. I am slowly working my way through the menu.
We chose to eat here because it was close to the stadiums. Portions were very small. Prices were high. Drinks were good. Very loud.
Being that there was a concert that night I’m sure that’s why service was slow. The server was great and food was good too. Pretty speedy though.
Nice apps/entrees and the decor is very good. Not too impressed that after you get seated in a near empty restaurant they tell you that happy hour specials do not apply to your table. Hopefully Mgmt will work on that. Server was good.
Poor quality food and poor service
Loved this restaurant! Nice ambiance with really cool light fixtures and other decor. Food was great!! Had Carne Asada and would highly recommend it. I’ll order it again next time as we will be back for sure! Thank you to our great server too (wish I could remember her name to give her credit for being great).
Great meal. Everything was very well done. Ceviche was especially good. Definitely recommend.
Made reservations at Zocalo before a Sounders game, and came in with 4 teens. We had a wonderful experience (often rare with kids at restaurants). The food was "next level" (said the teens), with chips being brought without having to request them until we had finished all the guac and salsa. We each had a different item off the menu, so we tried 6 different items, plus sides. All dishes were fresh, interesting, presented well, and tasty.
Zocalo is good for a pre or post-Sounders meal and/or drink. Couples and groups can equally enjoy the ambiance (including the art gallery in the back). And everyone should check out the vanity in the unisex sink area: stunning.
We wish we'd known about Zocalo sooner (it looked too upscale to bring kids into, but it's completely approachable and really a step-above "Mexican" restaurants. We will be back and very much recommend.
Duck Carnita Tamales were amazing. Best pork Carnitas I ever had!!!
We held a special lunch at Zocalo for six colleagues. Everyone found their meal very disappointing. Flavors were either unpleasantly pungent or not very flavorful. The restaurant’s interior design is lovely and we had expectations of a special meal. Instead, we all left feeling we would not return.
Delicious food, fabulous space, pricey. Upon our arrival for lunch I was in love with the space, decor, art and lighting. With the big open bar area it looks like a great place for a happy hour. We greeted and seated quickly and immediately were asked if we'd like chips, salsa and guacamole. Our answer? Of course! After getting our first look at the menu we realized that put us almost $20 in. $12 for guacamole and $7 for chips-salsa. The guac was delicious, fresh and limey. The three small bowls of salsa were excelent, a red, a green and a pico de gallo. We opted to split the carne asada ($25) which was flavorful and cooked perfectly. This plate included 8 oz steak, a splash of bean puree, a fried jalapeno, some avocado salsa, 4 tortillas (the waiter gave us one to make an even number extra because we were splitting) and a handful of greens sprinkled with some onion and cheese. The upside, we did not leave feeling overly full. The downside, with water to drink lunch was $47 before tip for two.
After we sat down we were immediately asked if we’d like chips and salsa to which we replied yes, not realizing that we would be charged for it because we had just received our menus and hadn’t had time to peruse them yet. I’ve never been to a Mexican food restaurant where they charged for chips and salsa. It’s usually complimentary with the meal.
The food was funky and not what we expected when we think of Mexican food. Carne Asada is not supposed to be a slab of steak cut into strips with an unfamiliar flavor. The portion sizes were extremely small and did not include and rice or beans. We also had to ask for more corn tortillas and for our water to be refilled. The place was fairly empty and our server wasn’t very attentive to our needs. We were greatly disappointed and will never return or recommend it to anyone.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The art, the decor and especially the food and drinks. We go before Sounders games and sometimes after to wait out the traffic. Everyone is friendly. The food taste so fresh. Great chicken mole and duck tamales. Can’t wait to go back again!
Food was average and service was not great. The server didn't come by much and had to be flagged down for a drink refill. Fun, trendy atmosphere.
We had a pre-Sounders game dinner with friends. The food was quite good and more authentic than many places. I loved the mushroom enchiladas. The carnitas looked great. Careful, as the drinks can add up and push the bill up a bit. We'll be back for sure.
I visited Zocalo before a recent Sounders game, with my wife and two kiddos (ages 7 and 10). We were pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the portions (including kids' meals) were healthy. It definitely has the feel of a "higher end" Mexican restaurant (no free chips/salsa like you'd get at a chain restaurant, which was fine with us), and the prices are a bit higher than most Mexican restaurants; however, it's a great location, good atmosphere with a great looking bar area, and we were very pleased. Two adult dinners, two kids' dinners, a guacamole appetizer, two beers and tip - all for just about $100. We'll be back! Thanks, Zocalo!

We enjoyed a casual evening at Zocalos
It was friday and happy hour and the noise level was very high. Later after it quietened down, we had exotic margaritas, tamale appetizer, enchiladas and carnitas. I really liked the tamales with duck and my husband raved about the enchiladas. We had churros for dessert and it was delicious. Overall it was a wonderful experience. The location was great for people watching and we had a table at the window. The gender neutral toilets were very clean.
Super nice waitstaff, good beer selection, happy hour snacks were delicious. honestly - I am not sure why this wasn't way more crowded.
Food was terrible. Should have realized when no one was at the restaurant. The waiter asked if we wanted chips and salsa and I said guacamole and he brought both and charges for both. They were expensive and not good
Disappointed in every aspect of the meal. This place is way overrated. Avoid it.

We had an absolutely amazing experience. We went on Valentine's day and the atmosphere was perfect, cozy and casual-ish which was perfect. The food was incredible and the chocolate mousse was mind blowing!
It was Valentine’s Day. A red rose was at each table to take home later. A complimentary glass of prosecco was offered before dinner. Very nice touches. Food was well prepared and good. A unique Mexican food and bar menu.
