The fish tacos are a staple! Excellent! Yummy pazole and guacamole.
Unfortunately our food was cold, no fizz in soda machine for all soft drinks and billed for items not on our order. However, the company we dined with was great so it made up for the other issues.
Nice experience. Waiter did forget about bringing us water but no biggie they gave us a free gift as an apology. Food was really good, but not heart health friendly (sodium content was pretty high in the rice, but delicious otherwise).
Overall we will return.
We had an awesome meal with good service
Everything was great, a bit loud inside the restaurant but that is my only issue. Food and staff were awesome!
The ceviche was delicious and it was a good sized portion. Also the guacamole is outstanding here! We both had mole enchiladas and they tasted great. My only wish is that there was more mole sauce. The sauce was a bit skimpy so the enchiladas were not as moist as I like.
Our waiter gave us excellent service. The ambiance of the restaurant is lively and I love the decor. This is my favorite Latin restaurant.
Food is always good , service was fantastic ! We had placed a reservation for 10 people and when we showed up we realized I had placed it for the wrong day! They already had 3 huge parties set up but were totally willing to accommodate us and we only had to wait 20 minutes past our time. I was pretty impressed.
Everything was great, except for one thing. They have gotten rid of their straws. Then they cited (incorrectly) the straw law to me. They’re wrong. It won’t kill them to stock a few straws for patrons like me. I mean, what do I have to do? BYOS? Good grief.
We love Zocalos and the fish tacos cause us to return time after time! Thank you!
Most flavorful meal ever! Delicious cilantro rice. Carnitas taco's and Asada tacos the best we've eaten. Great House margarita too.A must try for all Mexican food lovers. Not your regular restaurant. A great experience.
Everything was perfect!! It’s 150% better than McCORMICK & Schmick’s on Christmas Day
New Years Eve dinner
Enjoyed our meal, cocktails, and the environment. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. If you get tacos, we suggest getting the sauce on the side so you can meter it to your taste (it was too heavy for us). Otherwise, very good restaurant. We will be back!
Can always count on Zocalo's for a great vibe, excellent service and good food!
Went there for New Year’s Eve dinner with friends. Great food and service
I made my reservation through open table around 3pm for a 4:45pm reservation on New year's Eve. At the time I requested a table inside (choice of patio or inside). When we arrived we were told they had my reservation but it was for outside. When I mentioned I requested inside the hostess basically said there was nothing available. I was upset. Finally a gentleman came over and said so long as we could be out by 6:15 he could seat us inside.
While the food and service was good, the seating experience left a sour taste in my mouth. We love Zocolos and have dined here many times.
Apparently they need manage their availability online, with open table, better.
Consistently good food and service. One of my regular go to restaurants for lunch or dinner.
We stop in weekly and are always treated like VIPs. I love the small plates and the Paloma is fantastic!
While it deviates from what could be considered "authentic" Mexican food, it retains the overall flavor and spices with a fresh and seemingly upgraded take on traditional dishes. Baja fish tacos were outstanding and I would hold their carnitas up to any in the world. I happen to just love this place. I think they could do better Salsa though, but their guac and chips were outstanding and I love the little bean dip they serve with the chips.
Nice joint. Good vibe, nice service. Food was decent, nothing special. Not a great overall value for what you’re paying.
We were a party of 12. We brought two bottles of wine and asked the waiter to bring 8 wine glasses. After bringing 5 of them, the waiter disappeared. We were wondering whether the glasses were being manufactured. What kind of restaurant runs out of wine glasses?
On our order, one dish was explicitly ordered as purely vegetarian but it was served as meat. Although the dish was immediately replaced and made complimentary, the service left us much to be desired.
We were hoping for a quiet family meal when we were seated in the back room. We ended up being ignored, constantly waiting for service and seated with another table of really loud teens.
We really enjoyed our meal there. The food felt so fresh and healthy, while being tasty and innovative.
Restaurant itself is very nice and lively (went on a Saturday night). Parking at the location can be tougher. Food is fine, not great, and certainly overpriced ($17 for 3 fish tacos??). Finally, service I received was awful and the person who dropped off our table’s drinks was a condescending jerk while managing to get the drink order wrong. Will not be returning based on the marginal food at extraordinary prices but mostly because of the rudeness I encountered. Sorry, Zocalo, overhyped with a side of let down.
Food and blackberry margaritas were amazing
Steven was our server and he added much to the aesthetics and vibe of the restaurant. I brought a good friend, who's husband is Mexican, and very familiar with Mexican Food and traditions. We both had the Chili Rellenos which were different from the norm but very tasty. She was not real impressed with the unconventional preparation.....I loved it.....always like to try new things.
We came here for an office get together for team building over the holidays. The Open Table app was effective and helped keep our wait time to a minimum. Our service was great though it did take a little while to get someone to our table to place the order itself. Our wait staff was super friendly and made sure that our drinks were full when he came to the table. Overall the experience was amazing and we will definitely be back. The food was great tasting and the margaritas were soul touching.
Our reserved table was ready for our large group and we were able to get in and out quick enough for our lunch break, but did not feel rushed.
First time here .... but it won't be the last! Tasty food & great ambiance.
Great place, awesome customer service!
Thank you very much!
We sat in the back, semi-private dining room. Very good service. Good food. It was the perfect spot to catch up with friends. Family friendly.
I'm a big fan of this restaurant. We come here at least a half dozen times a year.
Great meal, great cocktails, and great atmosphere.
The tacos are outstanding, and their bean dip and salsa has a nice twist. Only downside is it can get busy and wait times can be long.
Zocalo has been a favorite, but we were very disappointed on Sunday, especially by the disorganized service--e.g. repeated requests for drinks from the bar, no silverware or napkins even after repeated requests, inept service by bus staff. And the food was so salty we could hardly eat it! There were seven of us, and we all agreed that Zocalo had let us down for the first time. The restaurant staff seemed to be in complete confusion. Perhaps new staff, new chef, new bar staff??? Shape up, Zocalo!
Really disappointed in our experience Sunday 12/09/2018. We came for brunch in which we waited for about 8 minutes to be seated. The place was busy with hustle and bustle. We have been to the Zocolos in Midtown which is always on point with good food, drinks and service. The Zocolos in Roseville is most definitely not like the Midtown Sacramento location. Our sever was a bit hostile and asked questions unlike most servers do such as when we ordered he asked us “What do you want?”. Typically it’s, “What would you like to order” or something with a bit of courtesy. The food came out cold and the only tasty things we ordered were the French Toast and Red Pizole. We sent back our food and had to ask multiple times and multiple people for a replacement. I found myself wanting to make excuses for this location. I wanted to think oh, they haven’t been open very long, so that’s why it wasn’t on game that day. But no, there isn’t an excuse for their poor practice and we plan on not coming back. There is a new location in the Arden Arcade area, however, after this experience we most likely won’t be trying it. If anything we will return to the Midtown Location and or Ernesto’s Downtown.
We showed up on time for our reservation and were told that it would be a few minutes because they were cleaning the table. They continued to seat other people. After another 15 minutes we asked for an update and they said that the people before us were just paying. Then they told us we were on a list and they had two in front of us. They proceeded to seat multiple groups who walked in without a reservation. After waiting 40 minutes we asked why we were not being seated and one of the hostesses condescendingly explained how reservations are not exact and just a window that they try to make. We know how reservations work and will not be making one at this restaurant again!
They were way under staffed, it took forever. They didn't read my notes about my hubby's bday and never brought out dessert menu's.
THE most above and beyond experience every single time I visit! From the start of putting my name in for a table with the incredibly kind and genuine Camry to the amazing servers, I haven't ever had anything less than outstanding service. A few of my favorites that I want to recognize for always making my family and I feel welcome and very well taken care of are Andrew, Felix, Jose and Jonathan! They all have SO much heart from the beginning to end of our meal they make you feel like you are truly a VIP in their eyes. After several visits each making an impression on my family and friends, I had to share with the manager Nikki how amazed I was with her team, when I expressed my gratitude she went on to share how much value each one of them holds to her she even shared details about each of their lives and how they all came to be a part of her team. Overall the whole Zocalo team cares for one another as a family they then give that same treatment to my family which means more than I can express in this review. I'm noticing I haven't even touched on the delicious food!! I can honestly say the service alone would always keep me coming back the food is an extra added benefit we all can't get enough of! Thank you Zocalo family for all you do, you are ALL appreciated more than you know! See you very soon!
Everytime I go, I have to order a double on a margarita because they're so weak. But that means I'm paying $19 for a simple cocktail. That and the service. The waiters always do a great job of taking your order but they never return to check up on you. I needed a knife for my meal but couldn't get one last time. It's always like that.
Goo food. Good service. Very friendly atmosphere.
