It was wonderful in every way. Our server ricardo is THE VERY BEST
3rd time here over the past couple years. Great food, presentation, Excellent service and would highly recommend. High ceiling so it is a bit higher level noise.
Too loud but we’ll return
The food was good
Highly recommend the mole enchiladas and the chile rellano. House margarita was delightfully refreshing.
Food and drinks were both awesome. Had the green Enchiladas and will definitely return.
Our waiter looked sad the whole night without any energy and the drinks took FOREVER. Food was really good but the service was mediocre so not I'd make a point to go back.
The food was very tasty. The fish tacos were the best fish tacos I ever had. Last Sunday was a beautiful day to enjoy outdoor dining and Zocalo had the perfect terrace for it. The service was fast. Overall a great experience.
beautiful place, fun vibe, good food & drinks
Great food, high energy and a bit noisy, but ample outdoor seating.
We all enjoyed our meals and the drinks were outstanding (especially the Bloody Marys!) They were very accommodating...our food came with plenty of time to get to our show.
Great meal and drinks!! Absolutely love this place.
We have been to Zocalo on several occasions for lunch. Lunches are very reasonable, delicious and interesting. Beautiful space and very efficient service. Guacamole might be best I've ever had. Huge chunks of avocado and cilantro and so fresh! Great restaurant!
If there was anything that made up for the somewhat shaky service we received, it was the food. Brunch was awesome- from the coffee, to the French toast, the chorizo con huevos, the food was good! We waited a few minutes before someone tended to our table. After asking for coffee, juice, and water, we waited for a little while before someone else came by and asked us if we wanted anything to drink. I said someone was already helping us. The first waitress came back and took our order, but also pointed out that the coffee was brewing.
We ordered our food, waited for the food to cook. Still no drinks. Our food came out, still no coffee. I asked about it to the first waitress and the new explanation she gave was when she pointed to another waitress and explained that she was supposed to take care of our table (which was the 2nd waitress that checked in with us). In about 30-35 minutes up to when the food was out and served, we still had no coffee. Just juice.
I don’t mean to make a big deal about the coffee (it’s just coffee, I get it). But the customer service was just not well organized I guess. Nothing personal toward them- they seemed to have a lot in their hands during a busy morning, but a simple beverage not being ready as you would typically expect in any other scenario
The food was delicious and my server made sure I ordered what I would like. My server was attentive and polite. I would go back for sure!
Great service and delicious food!
Our family reunion was the reason we chose Zocalo for dinner. We arrived on time for our reservation and waited about 15 minutes to be seated in a space filled with other large parties. One table had 25 guests! It was so loud and boisterous we were straining to hear one another and having to repeat ourselves constantly.
This is a real party scene! If you’re up for a lively and celebratory atmosphere, this is the place to go. It’s a beautiful restaurant. I wouldn’t call it a romantic or intimate dining experience, however. This is where you go to celebrate an event, a birthday with friends and family, a prom night party, etc.
The margaritas were delicious and the guacamole was perfect. My fish tacos, however, were soggy and the fish was mushy and tasteless. My Pozole was terrific! We expected more vegetarian options but struggled to find good variety for our meat-free dining companions. Huge salads didn’t provide enough variety in terms protein to sink ones teeth into.
I have had better lunches here in the past. Will return for margaritas, chips and guacamole and that wonderful and very filling Pozole.
One of our guests ordered a burrito which he ate with gusto after sitting and waiting for his order for at least 15–20 minutes after all the other guests had been served.
Thoughtfully, our server took this off the bill. Much appreciated.
Great food; music was too loud for Sunday brunch.
Great time celebrating my birthday. The 16 of us had a great time. Only complaint, the music was so loud it was hard to hear each other talk.
Chicken tortilla soup was awesome! I love all the food there, but since it was a rainy day the soup sounded good --- and it was!
The food and service was outstanding. The mole the best and they allowed changing the enchilada filling from chicken to carnitas. Noisy which caused a lot of “what?” Being asked. The food and good pricing more than compensated for the noise.
I actually love this place. I brought my daughter her for her 21st birthday last August 2017 and have wonderful service. From the time I walked in to the time I left. Then on 2-28-18 I brought my boyfriend her for the first time. Sure enough the same services from the hostess that was so pleasant and very helpful with the parking situation always had a smile. Our waitress made sure our food was well cooked and hot and greeted us with a warm welcoming and a smile. The food is always amazing and from the time we left it made us feel very welcoming again. I love this place and cannot wait to visit it again.
Zocalo is a favorite restaurant for me on special occasions and taking out-of-towners. The service is always exceptional and the best (attentive and splitting my salad). Unfortunately, I noticed on my bill later I was charged (and paid ) for an extra drink (4).
Service from the front desk to the dining table was impeccable, warm and hospitable. Our server checked back on us frequently and the food was delicious. We had 7 diners and we shared a variety of appetizers followed by our entree’s and a variety of desserts. The tres leches was my favorite. Overall the staff was very team work oriented and it was noticeable. Good job!
Very pleased, had a terrific and delicious dinner with family and friends
Excellent flavor in the food but very noisy! We enjoyed the evening.
Always an amazing tune. Rough week. Got together with friends. Good atmosphere. Great food. Perfect to unwind with some drinks. Good night all around.
Amazing Dining Experience! Foodie who would definitely come back every time when visiting Sacramento!
Out service was fast and personal. We will return .
I am one of the pickiest people I know. I always find something wrong with a place but I can honestly say this place was AMAZING. HIGHLY recommened
This was the perfect spot for an early dinner after a mid-afternoon theater. The food portions are ample. Good sauces enhance the preparation and taste. The restaurant is not in the league of the best, creative Mexican cuisine, but it is clearly above the average Mexican fare. It is a very lively, noisy, happening scene in midtown.
Great spot for drinks, decor is awesome.
Food was great (big portions).
Twice the appetizers came out with the main entrees
Very disappointed in the wait after we’d made a reservation. And after waiting our food was served cold.
We enjoyed the enchiladas rojas, Baja fish tacos, Chile relleno, and el burrito.
Came here for their Valentine's Day dinner special (chosen due to their reasonable price and late night reservation) but was sadly disappointed over the quality of food. The V-Day dinner special included a shared fixed appetizer, salad, cocktail (this was definitely the highlight of the whole meal, it was a delicious rose water spritz), two entrees and a shared dessert. The appetizer and salad was decent-- the salad had some broccoli which seemed a little unnecessary but the dressing was overall decent. The two entrees we ordered was the cochinita pibil and the salmon con mango, which both my husband and I both were sadly disappointed with. The cochinita pibil, a slow roasted pork shoulder, was actually on the dryer side and smothered in a sweet sauce that strongly reminded me of a BBQ sauce that you might find on a steak at a chain restaurant. The local tortillas that came with the dinner was also very underwhelming and by no means that good-- why advertise it as something special when it just tastes like a heated up, normal tortilla that you could buy at a supermarket? I've had better freshly made tortillas bought from Koreana Plaza.
My husband had a similar problem with his grilled salmon dish, where the salmon was also smothered in a sweet sauce and due to that, everything ended up having a sweet tinge. Both of our plates, the star of the dish-the protein-was masked by sugar and the sides (rice, beans, pickled onions etc.) were actually better than the "star".
The whole dinner ended with bread pudding, again, swimming in a sweet white sauce... The bread pudding came in a bowl and they literally could've just drizzled some of the sauce on top but instead, had the whole pudding sitting in it. The bread pudding itself was actually quite good but just had way too much sauce drowning it!
What is this obsession with sweet sauces??
For a Mexican restaurant of such high ratings I was not impressed. It really just tastes like an anglo-fied version of Mexican food.
Great atmosphere, we had to get seated outside for Valentine’s Day due to them having a special 4 course meal going on inside the restaurant. That wasn’t really my thing, so the people who wanted to have the regular menu were put on the outside patio. Even though the weather was cold and a little windy they had great heaters that actually made me pretty hot so I felt fine outside. Our waitress was amazing and very attentive, I will definitely be coming back to this place. Thank you for the great service and food!
Went there for Valentine’s Day. It was the best chile relleno I’ve ever had. Great pablano flavor with a lean but crispy shell. Yum. Great ambiance and great service. The drink that was included was a bit watered. Good for regular days but be ready to pay for the pre fix menu. Overall great and will go back.
Wonderful meal and even better service. We love celebrating Valentine’s Day at Zocalo!
It way way better than I was expecting! Great ambiance, friendly service, excellent food & presentation! Super find!
