Server was new and assigned a large group with very little assistance. She was overwhelmed and messed up a few orders, little table presence. No manager came by to check in. Great food but underwhelmed by the service.
Great brunch menu. Try the Bloody Maria.
Great food and quick service
I’d rate service and food a ten! Loved our big booth in the back! We loved the entire experience! Best Mexican food in town!
Went to Zócalo for a pre-Valentine’s Day weekend date. The weather was iffy but there was still an almost full dining area. Our waiter was spectacular. There was a small issue with the appetizer. He informed us and offered us several options. We opted to have the app with our entrees and when the check came it had been taken off. The food and drinks choices have some interesting ingredients and everything we ordered had a great blend of familiar and unexpected flavors. A very enjoyable dinner
Food was good but tasted like it had been sitting in the kitchen. It came out only warm. Service was poor. Never got a refill for ice tea or water even after asking. We were seated but had to ask for a server.
The food is creative & delicious! It looks beautiful but tastes even better. The queso is amazing - so thick & rich. And the prices great, especially for The Plaza.
There was no record of our reservation, even though I got a confirmation, but they found us a table quickly.
Loved the crab cakes.
My husband and I thought we'd give this place a try for date night. This was our first visit and we sat at the bar. The service started out good then decreased throughout our 1.5 hour stay. we had to ask 2 and 3 times for the same drink. We ordered dessert, waited about 20 minutes for it, finally gave up and asked for the check then it finally came out. The bread pudding was good. The fish I ordered was over cooked. My husband had the taco sampler which was pretty good. The food was just okay, poor service. There are much better restaurants in KC.
The dining experience was a positive one. We went for restaurant week and the only down side was they were out of tamales.
Dining at Zocalo was a delightful experience for my husband, our niece, and me!
I found the restaurant listed on the Restaurant Week website. We were impressed with the setting, food, and service. We look forward to returning to dine here again soon.
Food was not hot when brought out to table. Felt like much of it was made in bulk batches and maybe microwaved. Only the filet was good. High amt's butter/salt with moderate flavour. Nothing special about the food.
It was restaurant week and the service was excellent, but my entrée of fish, grits and mixed veggies was overloaded with garlic. I brought most of it home and reheated with lemon which improved it. The portions menu had many choices of Mexican food that looked interesting - not the typical rice and beans. I liked the ambience and location on the plaza.
Great service as always!! Food and drinks on time
I really like their Sangria+Margarita, Chris is always a great waitress!! Food always on time and beautiful people there
Great service and excellent food, upscale Mexican that we will be returning for soon
Food was cold, flavorless Waiter inexperienced. Nothing about the meal made you want to come back or recommend it. It feels like they’re on the way out and no longer trying—or perhaps they never did.
Food was delicious - I ordered the chicken nacho's. Very filling and wonderful home-ade chips. We will definitely go back to this restaurant
Great setting. Awesome menu. Really strong margaritas!!
It was Christmas Eve. The server did not check on us at all we had to be looking for him. Our food took forever and it ended up being average.
Love this place! Food and service is awesome! Beautiful place!
Have been here for Margaritas in the past however this was the first time eating here and the food and service did not disappoint. The fajitas were awesome and the salsa trio was amazing. I can say without hesitation that all three salsas are great. And the margaritas are really good as well.
Our waiter, Reese, was great. Unfortunately their happy hour set up was very miscommunicated. When we were charged full price versus happy hour, the manager was very argumentative and difficult versus accommodating and understanding. Loved our time and margaritas unfortunately will not be back due to managers lack of respect for two young females.
Server was good. Food was uncharascteristically poor...cold, missing ingredients, very late. We guessed the chef didn’t show up.
Our first time in and we enjoyed our experience... great food and relaxing atmosphere.
The food was fantastic, the service was perfect. The only problem we had was that we had a reservation for 6 p.m.when it was apparent we would be 15 min late, I called. The young man who answered said no problem, they had several that were lingering. When we got there, they had cancelled the reservation and told us we should have called. Unfortunately the man was not at the hostess area. (I should have remembered his name) When we explained, they got us right in. I would suggest on a Friday night at Christmas, go as early as you can. The parking was nearly impossible to find.
All in all, I would go back anytime. They have an appetizer queso with sausage that was great as well as everything we ordered
Took my SO out for a birthday dinner here, and had a GREAT EXPERIENCE! Service was phenomenal, food was exquisite, and atmosphere was amazing. Would absolutely recommend (and already have).
Here’s the most notable problems: service was slow and inattentive (we were 1 of 2 tables with people), the food was awful (we took two bites out of $9 guacamole and added our own salt), our food came out at different times with some items coming out with 20+ minutes between plates, and the music was off-putting by playing Kesha and LMFAO - which should be played in dance clubs, not restaurants.
With so many options in the Plaza, I’ll NEVER be back.
Was on the plaza with some friends and came to Zocalo.
Food was delicious. Crab cakes jumped off the plate and tasted incredible!
Had the carne asada tacos, Chilean Sea Bass (oh my gosh!) and Lobster Mac!!!
All were fantastic!
Thoroughly enjoyed the red chile scallops! The music on the bar side got very loud & clubish though after 9pm which made it hard to hear on the table side but I'd still go back.
Great food, great atmosphere, great food, great friends, great evening. Highly recommend!
We had a late dinner on thanksgiving and they were very accommodating on such a busy night. Food was very good
Great food and generous portions! The staff are wonderful! They're personable, very knowledgeable and attentive. I recommend the tequila flights.
While I enjoyed the food, our service was less than desirable. I acknowledge we waved our server away on a couple of occasions prior to ordering, once we ordered and received our food, we never saw her again.
Realy enjoyed the Southern Tacos. Great Margaritas! Great place for the Plaza.
Had the pleasure of eating here for brunch. We started with the pork belly nachos. Oh my god!! Why have I never had these before!!! One word INCREDIBLE (and absolutely beautiful too!)!!!
Had the chorizo biscuits & gravy. Biscuits were amazing, gravy super rich & creamy. Delicious!
Bloody Mary is super good with a nice kick to it.
Service was impeccable and couldn't be beat.
You must try this.
