Everything was great, would certainly go here again
Opentable was wrong and confirmed an outside table and they are closed for in person. Had to try 4 other restaurants before getting a spot for a first date which certainly added undue stress. I will say however that despite it not being the restaurant’s fault in the slightest the staff was extremely apologetic and kind. Will definitely go back when restaurants loosen up again solely based on that.
We went to celebrate my birthday and they were not open even though I was able to make a reservation on Open Table. I called the restaurant and left a message but no one ever called me back.
Very accommodating with food allergies but felt entrees were very over priced.
Great place, good attentive service
Amazing food and service. The staff provided excellent service and was very attentive to our needs. I ordered a drink that was too sweet for me and they noticed I was not drinking It and changed it. The food was delicious and would recommend to anyone.
Poor value for money
Outside seating was very comfortable. The food was delicious and our server was great! We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Denver.
The food was so delicious, from the cocktails to the appetizers and main course. Service was on point, perfect outdoor dining spot. Definitely recommend giving this place a try, not one thing I'd send back. They followed Covid protocol and made you feel welcome and safe.
Fantastic food and service! House made margaritas with fresh squeezed lime juice for the win! I loved the look and feel of this restaurant. I will be back soon!
I try not to give negative reviews during COVID but this was one of the worst experiences I have had dining. We had a table for 4 reserved for outdoor dining this past Saturday. The server told us that they were understaffed, with only one bartender and one person in the kitchen, so orders would be served slower than usual. We said we understood. She took our order for starters and drinks—and we waited, and waited, and waited. It took at least 30 minutes for drinks to arrive and she brought an incorrect cocktail and a different wine than we ordered. We accepted them anyway. And then . . . It was nearly 2 hours from when we were seated before our starters were served. 2 hours. The same was true for other tables. And they kept seating people even though they could not keep up with demand from those already seated. We paid for the starters and beverages and left without ordering entrees. By then most other restaurants were closed. While the server could have done more to keep us informed, this was mostly a failure of management and staffing, seating too many customers when they clearly were unable to keep up with demand.
Times are tough for restaurants for sure. Even so, it is unacceptable to leave patrons in the lurch like this. I hope they can do better.
My boyfriend and I went to dinner here because of the reviews online & look of the ambience. We were hoping for a chill low key amazing Date night. We were absolutely impressed & more than happy we chose to come here. From the freshly made corn tortillas to the authentic cheeses and spices throughout our 3 course dine. Highly recommend & will be Back.
One of the best mezcal old fashioned I've had! The bean dip special was muy rico as well. The patio was super spacious with nice views of the city. Great for a beautiful dinner in downtown Denver!
We were given a reservation through Open table but the restaurant was closed when we got there at least 15 minutes before our reservation time.
Delicious Oaxaca cuisine with a beautiful downtown setting.
Great food, great service. We’ll go back.
Great food, really unique. Enjoyed ourselves very much.
Everything on the menu looked good and the food and drinks ordered tasted even better. A slow night worked to our advantage as Nicole took excellent care of our party. We look forward to coming back and trying new things.
We arrived at the restaurant and we were seated right away. The menu has a great variety of flavors and spices. The wine list is heavy in Spanish andArgentine wines. They also have a great bar menu.
We had a great meal with lots of exciting flavors and expect to go back very soon.
Great menu and everything at our table was cooked to perfection.
Will be back!
We visited Zocalito during Denver Restaurant week. I told the waitress I was gluten free and asked her about my selections. She told me even if my selection wasn't gluten free she could have it made gluten free for me. The food tasted great. The items on the menu did seem a little pricey. I did order a drink that cost $19. It tasted like watered down mezcal and wasn't good. The ambiance was okay. Although our waitress was attentive, the other staff who brought us some of our food and refilled our water wouldn't even look at us while setting down the food. They acted like they really didn't want to wait on us.
The problem started about 20 minutes after leaving the restaurant when I could tell I had been exposed to gluten. I spent a very painful 18 hours of getting over this incident. So, having said the food was good, I would never visit this restaurant again. If you don't have food sensitivities, knock yourself out. Otherwise, beware.
The Colorado Grilled Cod is excellent! The chicken wings a good as well.
It was my second time visiting Zocaltio, this time around was even better than the first. Can't wait to go back when we're in Denver again.
This was our second time to this restaurant and probably our last. We went during a restaurant week. The portions were much smaller than before and the wait staff appeared to act like they were doing us a favor by serving us. We left hungry, disappointed with the food and very frustrated with the service.
Worse of all the waitress pour a hot red sauce over two of our costs - twice! There was no offer of consideration until we asked to speak with the manager. The manager offered to reimburse us for dry cleaning if we returned with a receipt. One of our party explained he was leaving the state the next day so she offered to make a token adjustment to the bill.
Our friends will never get the stains out of their coats. They lost their costs and we lost what we thought was going to be a fantastic restaurants for friends and family.
Wasn't super packed and everything was really good. Will be back.
Food was very flavorful and servers were nice. However the wait time between being seated, getting a server, and getting anything we ordered was way longer than it should have been. Additionally, the beef filet was over cooked - still flavorful, but definitely over done.
Food was fabulous. Service was a bit slow; I think they were short staffed. Staff was very nice and accommodating
We've eaten here twice in the last month and the food is so flavorful and absolutely delicious. This is our favorite new find in Denver!
Valentine’s Day dessert after a show
Unfortunately, our experience at Zocalito left a lot to be desired. While it was V-Day and we expected slower than usual service, it was obvious the restaurant was understaffed, the kitchen was overwhelmed, and some of the staff were not very experienced, all adding up to a frustrating night for a lot of diners.
It went like this: We showed up 5 minutes early to our 8:45 reservation, were told to wait at the bar and this we did for 45 minutes. The bartender was cool and took care of us, but we felt forgotten by the hostess. Other couples came in with later reservations and were seated before us. I had to remind the hostess we were still waiting and then she immediately seated us. Sitting at the table was even worse than the bar. Our waitress was stressed and awkward and basically left us alone for our second 45 minute wait of the evening, coming by once to ask if we wanted another drink and to refill our water. Other guests near us were vocally complaining about the wait, but we remained patient and polite. By 10:15 my wife was falling asleep at the table and I was just about to pack it in and take us home when our food came out. No apologies for the wait or any kind of offer to salvage our rough experience. We don't even remember what the food tasted like as at that point we were so tired and disappointed with the experience.
I realize this is a new restaurant that is still figuring things out and it was a busy night, but the least you can do is communicate to your guests, maybe comp them an item on their bill and do whatever you can to make them feel welcomed and taken care of. I don't mind waiting long if the service is good and the environment is fun to be in. I will say their bartender was excellent and a very friendly guy who did what he could to take care of us while we were waiting, but the rest of the staff (that we encountered at least) still have a long ways to go.
Awful. We will never go back.
I want to preface this by saying we went on Valentines Day - aka - very busy. As said my wife and I went on date night and first and foremost the food was great. We were greeted and seated right away and were even given a small glass of sparkling wine due to holiday. We started with a chorizo cheese appetizer and it came with excellent tortillas. For dinner we had a mole skirt steak and a beef tenderloin - both excellent. My only issue was the service from the bar. Slow... if you want something other than water order early and often. Once received, the drinks were great; just think faster service means more drinks, more drinks...you get it. Would I go back? Yes.
The hostess was extremely rude to the guests checking in. The food took over an hour to get. We were seated right by the door with a gusty breeze while half of the restaurant was not seated.
Went for Valentine's Day Dinner and as usual it was a wonderful experience. Complementary glass of champagne was a nice extra touch. One of the best places to dine in Denver.
Absolutely amazing food and drinks! The waiter was very helpful and provided amazing service!
A little on the expensive side, but phenomenal food in an unexpected location.
Thanks for the excellent review!
Food was good. The staff were vary obviously trying to get us out even at one point showed us that it was just us and the owner in the restaurant but it was still well before close. Overall the experience was pretty good but the waiter was a bit of a mess and would not answer questions about the menu directly.
Food was wonderful. I would go as far as saying this place could be the best HH in town.
Zocalito is a great spot for a tasty not-too-heavy lunch.
Thank you so much for the fantastic review! We look forward to seeing soon.
Tha happy hour was fab. $5 margs with kickin food menu. We went for full dinner but ended up just eating quesadilla and tacos from the hh menus. Delish.
Thank you so much for the great review!
