Great food. This is not your typical Mexican Cuisine. The soup and tamale were fantastic.
We loved it! The cocktails were delicious, and the shrimp-octopus salad with peppers was perfection!
We will return!
Pleasant surprise just a few blocks from 16th
Great service. Really outstanding food. Wonderful spices and flavors. Creative recipes!
The food was ok and the service was friendly. That said, there were some clear value issues. The food was definitely overpriced and we ordered a bottle of wine and the year of the wine served was 5 years younger than on the wine list. The waitress did not have a good answer and charged the same amount as a 5 year older wine. That was unacceptable. The bartender made a Cadillac margarita but did not include Grand Marnier which is a required ingredient. When I asked I was assured it was made correctly. I asked if they would add Grand Marnier and the bartender added so little it barely changed color. Would not go back or recommend.
Fantastic. Nothing else like it in Denver.
Great restaurant, hope more people discover it because it deserves to last!
Portions were small for the price. Twice I was served what looked like a half glass of wine.
I was impressed by most everything except the prices here. $18 for three street tacos is excessive by any measure. If the prices were better this place would be a normal spot for me
Food was amazing! We shared the shrimp ceviche, black bean soup, and beef tenderloin and couldn't find a single fault with anything. It was not busy at all on a Saturday night after a baseball game, so I hope it sticks around long enough to go back.
We loved our lunch here!! The price point is a bit high for every day dining, but it's good for special occasions! The food is delicious!
I rarely give 5 stars across the board, but Zocalito deserves top ratings. The food is unique, the chilis sprinkled on the edge of each dish are divine ... I have returned three times in less than a month .... once on a double date, the second time with girl friends to celebrate birthdays, and finally just the two of us. Each time we have had excellent food and great service. Can't wait to go back now that the weather is nice and try the patio.
The food at zocalito is outstanding. The flavors and quality are unlike any other Mexican food restaurant in Denver. Hope this restaurant makes it in its chosen location.
2nd time there with a larger group. Great food and ambiance!
We have been going to this restaurant when it was in Aspen, and always enjoyed it. The mole is always flavorful and the food is well prepared. One star down on service only because they didn't habe enough staff for the number of guests (it was a Wednesday evening), but the two staff members that we did interact with were very helpful.
Our experience was great up until our entrees were served. After that, our server was stuck in service bar mode for the entire restaurant. Where was the manager touching tables ? Where was the pass-off to any other server ? We got dessert menus 10 minutes after plates were cleared, and forgotten for the next 20 minutes. Completely unacceptable for an establishment this experienced. Boo hiss ...
Great service, general vibe, decor and menu! Our server was friendly, attentive and helpful about menu choices. The food is creative, and delicious. My only disappointment was an vegetable entree priced at around $27 or 26 that was rather meager with underdone rice. I highly recommend the mussels, scallops tamales (a rare treat!) and our friend really enjoyed the pork dish. The music was a bit loud, but that's only because we're old!
The bar and its offerings are amazing! Do not go anyplace else to experience a tequila treat!
Fantastic all around. Delicious food and great service!!!
Great drinks and wonderful flavors and spice.
Great first experience. Wait staff was excellent!
Different and very good food!
Food was delicious and it was a beautiful day to sit at the outdoor patio. Will definitely go back.
Great food, superb cocktails, and attentive staff. We’d definitely dine at Zocalito again.
Excellent food, friendly knowledgeable service, good drinks, excellent value, unusually good spices, very interesting artwork from Mexico.
Super tasty ceviche, pozole, and chile relleno. Would order all three again. Large portions, not busy at noon on a Monday. Great lunch spot!
Some great tastes... large portions...
Nice room layout...
A terrific night. The food is truly is above and beyond expectation! Mike and Zori, and the rest of the team are an accomplished and unique addition to the Denver Restaurant scene! Great table and bar service tonight by the incredibly knowledgeable Norma and Jason. I suggest ordering family style so that everyone at the table has a chance to try as many dishes as they can!
Jason was the warmest and friendliest server imaginable; the music made me want to dance and the food was impeccable!
Food is delicious; art is amazing. I've been twice and it has not been busy either time, but the service was terrible the second time. I think that was the individual server's issue, though, not the restaurant in general.
An excellent new restaurant --- both food and service were superb. An very enjoyable experience with a fine dining restaurant.
Great place food to die for but quiet during the week
The experience simply did not come close to matching the price charged. Will not return.
Food was very good and the bartender, according to the waitress, is a sommelier.
Great food and atmosphere at this little hidden gem. We loved the shrimp dish we had and the pork dish some of the others had was excellent too. They make a mean margarita as well and the prices were very reasonable for a downtown restaurant. We had a group of 7 and it worked great. Highly recommend trying this cute Latin Bistro!
Loved the octopus and shrimp salad! And great cocktails.
This was our first visit. Our waiter was great about getting our many questions on ingredients and cooking techniques answered. The food was delicious. We will go back.
The food was excellent and too much to choose from for one visit. I'll have to come back to sample more of the menu. The service was also excellent. Personably, friendly, well informed about the dishes and the region. The ambience was nice. Great indigenous art even if the tables and booths didn't quite fit with the overall vibe. My one criticism is that the drink menu and appetizers are expensive so the bill adds up quickly. They did invite us to try their happy hour where the portions remain the same as the dinner menu but at a discounted price. I definitely will be there again.
Date night and theater for us on a Thursday. We were greeted and seated within minutes of arriving. We were provided with menus for adult beverages, the specials for dinner, the regular menu as well as the Happy Hour one. Our waiter, Sam, asked if we wanted to order a beverage while we were checking out the menu. I had the Tilia Malbec while my husband had the Mezcal Margarita. We decided to order the steamed mussels with red onions, tomatoes and achiote sauce for an appetizer. DELICIOUS! The sauce was different and very good. My husband loved his Mezcal Margarita.
My husband wasn't sure which pork taco he wanted so he asked Sam about the choices. Sam explained they were all good, but it was a choice of what kind of texture and taste a diner would want. His explanation showed he had knowledge of the food. I had the Quesadilla with Chicken and my husband had the Crispy Pork Tacos. I'm not sure what types of cheeses were used, but it was light and the taste was perfect. My husband said he enjoyed his tacos and said they had a kick to them that he enjoyed.
Sam, our waiter, was attentive without being intrusive. He made sure we had full water glasses and asked if we wanted additional drinks. As each of us finished our plates, they were removed. We were asked if we wanted dessert, but we had to get going to attend a play.
They have outdoor seating which will be perfect when the weather warms up. I loved the unique decor and the ability to have a conversation without having to speak louder. They have a designated Happy Hour area which looked to be busy and the best part- I could see the people, but not hear them.
We will definitely be back. The service, food and atmosphere were excellent. I enjoy Mexican food and the idea of having a different type of Mexican food called Oaxaca was a wonderful experience. I would love to come back to sample the desserts too.
Excellent food, great addition to downtown Denver dining
Very tasty food and good service. Location is not so convenient, but worth the visit. Rellenos were fantastic and ribs were very good but, portion is a bit small.
