I've lived in Manhattan/flatiron area for 2 years and this has got to be one of the best dining experienced I've had in that time. Great food, great service, great atmosphere.
I would not recommend the restaurant. The beet salad was fine; chicken scarparello had to be sent back; it was so spicy, I could not eat it. Then as a replacement I ordered pasta bolognese with whole wheat pasta. They drowned the pasta in sauce and t he taste of the bolognese was only so-so.
The service was lacking. There were like four different people to ask about what we wanted to drink and no one gave us our drinks until we asked after five minutes from the last ask. Then no one told us about the specials until we asked to put our order. We were there at 8:15 and it wasn’t too busy. I don’t understand why the service was not good.
Excellent. Our server was on the ball, polite and helpful.
My family had a birthday dinner here this past weekend. The food and service was great and we love the atmosphere at Zio! They do a great job.
Our first visit to Zio and not our last! We met Roberto the owner behind the bar last weekend. His passion for the food and ambiance is very evident. We 4 all had pastas, all pastas made in house, lamb ragu and linguine with clams excellent. Salads very fresh and large portions. Good wine list and wines by the glass. Yummy tiramisu for desert. Sit in the back room, it's a great space.
Looking forward to returning.
I have to consider us Zio “regulars” at this point. You can not go wrong going to Zio’s for a date, special occasion, business meeting, friend’s get-together and/or everyday dining. The servers truly work as a team and are very attentive but not intrusive. The menu has an excellent variety, offers gluten free pasta, the kitchen is very accommodating regarding dietary restrictions (gluten/dairy free) and they always offer a diverse number of specials. The consistency all around, ambiance, energy, food and staff are just some of the reasons we keep going back.
Best Chicken Scarp you will ever have.. Gnudi was delicious.. Apps great as well.
Had a nice meal with friends. Good wine selection, attentive waiters who knew a lot. Nice bread basket placed out before dining. Food was merely adequate: pasta slightly over cooked and sauce underwhelming. Salad, however, was excellent
Took 90 minutes for two pasta dishes. Waitress did excellent job of ignoring us most of that time.
Wonderful restaurant with delicious food, beautiful ambience and friendly staff, all for a great price. 10/10 will definitely be going back ASAP
Everything was wonderful from time spent at the bar until we left our dinner table and walked out the door!!
Very good food and service. Nice ambiance and noise level providing you sit in the back
I enjoy just about any excuse to eat at Zio. The lunch specials are a wonderful buy, and the bar scene after work is terrific. Best of all if you want a quiet corner their back dining room provides a space for those long catch up with friends dinners. The food is prepared as if your best friend made it, that is if your friend is a talented chef. That’s pretty much the vibe. You are made to feel welcome and satisfied. The food is impressive comfort food . Risotto, eggplant rolatini, lovely small plates and pizzas. Hi-end stews and large plates. Service is old school attentive not intrusive. Always a lovely experience. Solid Italian wine list as well.
Enjoy a nice dinner recently at Zio. The food was fantastic and the service was attentive and sold. Definitely will be back.
place is nice, large and quite. food was very good, we had almost the entire starter menu which were all very good. for mains we took a verity of pasta dishes and all were very good.
Ordered a variety of small plates to sample several things and everything wad amazing. I look forward to coming back for more wonderful dishes!
Very good food and atmosphere
Loved everything! The gnudi
Was the best! The sauce was superb!

The ram shack is excellent. However, must sit at the back to avoid the noise at bar
Came to NYC from London, Google’s nearby restaurants and very pleased with this find. Staff attentive, not overbearing, food was fantastic. Recommended to friends living in New York who haven’t been yet!
The decoration in Zio is so great! Love the little sofas and dime candle light. Very romantic.
Food is great! My favorite is the salmon pizza. Totally out of my expectation. The entree was a bit heavy in oil but the flavor was great.
The best italian food ever! I hlghly reommend it. Amazing attention.
Everything were great! Food, drinks and service. 10-10
This was my second meal at Zio. The first time I was impressed by the comfortable seating and separation of tables which allowed a group of adults to have relaxing and quiet conversation. The large booth is like eating in a living room. The bar is also very comfortable and stocks good high-end booze we are always looking for rye and they had it. This time we had an extremely comfortable meal once again. The food is very good. The scarpariello was delicious as was the papardelle with Lamb ragu. I never order chicken parm in restaurants because I can make an excellent one at home but I was in the mood and theirs was not better than mine. I say go for a romantic meal, first date if you’re over 30 or seeing friends for a good meal and conversation. It’s really a lovely place.
Great ambiance and service. Food came out quick and was delicious. Drinks were spot on, highly recommended!
Another Memorable Dining Experience, this time a Saturday night dinner for five. Zio is a reliable "go to" place in NYC, with consistently excellent food and attentive service. Appetizers were great -- arancini, meatballs, sausage and peppers, flatbread ... For the main, I usually enjoy the veal chop, but my son tempted me to try his favorite -- Spaghetti Carbonara. Glad he did!. It was done perfectly, slightly al dente. My wife found the branzino to be very tasty. We finished with a house-made tiramisu, which -- like the check -- was light and sweet. Seriously, Zio is an outstanding value.
My wife and I had dinner with a couple who we only see once or twice a year. They asked that we choose the restaurant as my wife needs gluten and dairy free options. Zio's has the best happy hour as it goes until 7:30pm and the entire front of the restaurant happy hour is available, NOT just at the bar. I wanted to sit in the front of the restaurant, near the windows, to take advantage of happy hour drink prices and for dinner as well. Seating the four of us in this area, without one of us having to sit on the corner of the table/banquette was not working. We moved to a table closer to the entrance but it was too breezy. Darren, one of the partners/owners, saved the day. He inserted himself in our predicament, funny guy, and was like no problem and honored the happy hour drink pricing in the back section of the restaurant. Important note, my wife wanted to sit in the back section from the get go. 🙄 Darren had a constant unobtrusive presence, took our drink and food orders and was entertaining as well. Food of course was excellent, as always, and our friends I know will return to Zio's in the future.
We went there for a dinner recently; great atmosphere in the dining room, good food and very helpful and attentive staff. Certainly recommend.
Our group of 8 had a great time at Zio! Excellent Italian standards and easily able to accommodate our gluten-free friend. I had the papardelle with lamb ragu and was VERY happy. Sampled the desserts and they tasted great. Highly recommend for dates or group outings in the Gramercy Park area.
Had looked up this restaurant on Open Table and all of the reviews were great. Lovely ambiance. We were there for lunch the day after Thanksgiving so it was a bit quiet to start. We called friends to join us as the food and service as so great. Enjoyed the flatbread pizzas and buratta starter. They offer wonder price fixed menu too. Will definitely return!
An over abundance of earnest wait staff, but few on the floor taking orders.
Have been going for years and never ceases to please and meet every expectation.
Great spot for a quiet business or friends get together lunch. Service is professional and courteous. Food is average - appetizer of squash soup was as bland as possible. Shaved artichoke and parm salad was tasty while raviolis with tomato sauce was just OK. The special stuffed ravioli was very good. Overall, food is not extraordinary but not bad. Prix fix $20 lunch is rare in NY as is a restaurant that is quiet enough to hold a conversation.
Food was good, service very good. Sat at the bar after dinner, that was just OK.
Zio's has become our go to restaurant. They have one of the best happy hours that goes from 4:30-7:30pm. As there are tables and banquets in the front of the restaurant, which is considered "the bar area", you are not stuck standing at the actual bar for happy hour. We usually have dinner within that timeframe so it's perfect for us. We actually prefer dining in the front section of the restaurant. Some of our favorites on the menu include the shaved artichoke salad, fried calamari w/ zucchini, ribeye steak, Branzino and the Cornish Hen. Of course there is pasta (gluten-free option available) and pizza on the menu as well. Great place, service and menu definitely worth checking it out.
Went for birthdays celebration. Service and food were great. Very attentive and all guests were impressed. Would go again
Amazing and noteworthy cuisine. You are greeted warmly by the hostess and restaurant managers. The service and food are outstanding - the red snapper and the pasta were out of this world. Dessert selection is wonderful. Truly a top notch, wonderful dining experience that was very memorable. Run, don't walk to this incredible Italian restaurant.
I loved Zio so much a couple of weeks ago that I decided to go again with some other friends this past week. Unfortunately the entire back of the restaurant was occupied by a big party. This meant that the only seats available were in the front of the restaurant where the noisy bar is. We had a very nice dinner and despite the loud music, our experience was very good. All of our food was really delicious. The last time I disliked both of the 2 desserts we had. This time I ordered something different - the tiramisu. It was outstanding, probably one of the best restaurant versions I've ever had and almost identical to the one I make. I could have eaten 2 of them by myself!
