Very nice rooftop spot. The service was great and the food was really good too. I recommend the homemade pastas. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it for a rare meal out during covid.
Can’t wait to go back.
Krishan and Neeraj were super nice and went above and beyond
Thank u so much
We coming back soon
An amazing find. Great rooftop spot and truly tasty food. Service was perfect and extensive wine list.
Food is pretty good, cocktails are excellent. Service is slow, but I'm sure part of that is because the kitchen is elsewhere in the building.
Amazing service! Delicious food! Loved it!
We will definitely will be back!
a jewel of a spot atop the Donatello hotel just the place for these times
The server and owner was rude and very curt. Repeatedly rushed us to choose drinks and food because the “kitchen was closing in 5 minutes” despite us having reserved a two hour block, as required by the restaurant. After taking our order, the server didn’t come back until we got up and walked around, looking for someone (we were the only patrons in the whole place) to refill our water and to get the check. After bringing the check, they disappeared and we, after waiting 15 minutes went to the elevators to let ourselves out only to find the doors had all been locked and lights turned off. Would not pay that high dollar price for that kind of service again. Shame because the rooftop had pretty views of the city.
Many thanks. Your review, however, is exaggerated and unkind. You were welcomed after arriving late to 8pm last seating. We requested to place food orders. We are sorry to learn about your sense of entitlement. We explained the facts: public transportation hours are reduced. COVID. Our team does not have the privilege of a car, so use public transportation. Therefore, Chef needs orders earlier. Our wish always is to be attentive. We chased you to give warm farewell. Bring gratitude to SF.
The food and music absolutely outstanding.
Delicious food with helpful and friendly staff. Met and exceeded all our expectations.
They opened the rooftop in June and seem to be following all protocols.
Thought it was weird when the waiter took my empty cocktail glass and didnt ask if I wanted anything else to drink. Did the same with my husband. 1 drink max? Not impressed with the salad, but meatballs & both pasta dishes were very good, would go back for those. Cheesecake was a complete disappointment.
First time ever experiencing an automatic 20% tip applied to the bill(for 2 people). That is our usual tip, but what do you do if you have bad service & don't feel that 20% is appropriate?
Food was amazing but failed on service. Our waiter was inattentive, kind of rude, was rushing us to order, didn’t explain anything about the food and didn’t acknowledge our birthday celebration. AND added a huge tip to our bill automatically even though there was only 2 of us. The rooftop was cold and they offered no blankets like the other restaurants I’ve visited with the same ambiance. If not for the food, I will give this restaurant a 1 star overall.
Food took a while to come out, but it was absolutely delicious. The outdoor seating was comfortable and the staff was really nice. I’d definitely go back for another meal because the food was so tasty!
Great food and service!
Zingari offers the most incredible food we’ve ever tasted! We had a lovely lunch on the rooftop where we could see all around the city. The weather was perfect San Francisco weather with sunshine and a light breeze and our server was warm and friendly.
We ate pasta that made me tear up at the memory of my Nonna and wild boar that melted when your spoon touched it.
Tyler joked that we would come back every day for lunch. However, if we didn’t live so far away we might be tempted to go broke to eat here every day.
you are currently on the roof, plan accordingly, food is excellent, wine list is strong, and the cocktail program is strong, eat out, support small businesses, it's a great space to do both
Very cold, but super awesome! Thank you so much!
With only a few SF restaurants open for outside dining, I gave Zingari a try—first time visit. Seems they have moved the downstairs restaurant service to an outdoor perimeter patio of what is probably a rooftop bar. It works well...pleasant enough space, good music, attentive service from the manager during a fairly quiet weekday lunch. The food was very good—handmade pastas are a standout. Overall, a good meal and nice to be out to a restaurant again!
It was cold bring a jacket
Food was very average/poor especially given price. Rooftop with no view and very small with seats around edge of building. Also had to ask for bread which is usually a given in Italian restaurants. Best thing was Super Tuscan wine! Would not recommend this place.
First let me say, the food was amazing! It was there first first days open and they didn’t have a good system in place. We waited so long to order, food came before drinks, there was an hour between courses, they didn’t have the wine on the menu and it was just a huge mess. I have lots of empathy because I worked in the business so I could only imagine how much they’ve struggled. They also need to provide blankets or really good heat lamps above each table. It’s SF, you cant do outdoor without lamps. Hopefully they’ve worked it out in the last two weeks!
Ordered food at 6:45pm, main course didn’t get to the table until 8:30 pm and the meat was incredibly dry for both dishes. Would not recommend
Great food, fantastic atmosphere. We were greeted by the owner who took us upstairs to their rooftop dining and checked on us several times. Our waiter Alex was super nice and accommodating. Overall superb experience. Highly recommend!
Celebrating our 15 year Wedding Anniversary. Service was excellent! Made our special evening better special and romantic. Food and drinks were delicious.
The food was amazing, but the deserts seemed poor quality and did not live up to or even match the descriptions.
No berry coulis with cheesecake and the crusted mousse cake was just a piece of cake.
Fantastic service and great atmosphere. Will definitely visit again!
Just okay, not worth the price. Risotto was more like a Spanish rice. Drinks were okay.
Overall it was not worth it, especially the 20% automatic gratuity... service and wait time was not 20% gratuity worth.
Repas très bon, mais coût global assez élevé dû aussi au fait que 20% de pourboire sont imposés sur la note 😊
Took my daughter when we went to see Harry Potter Parts 1/2. We were seated early and weren’t rushed. It’s always so good to eat there.
The food was very good and the servers were warm and welcoming. The price of the food, however, I would categorize as expensive for what you get (approx 20-30% higher). Another thing to note, the service charge was automatically included (20%, party of 2).
Overall a great option for those attending the Theater. The service was great with the staff and management having a presence. It was a bit quiet with no music (it is a jazz bar) being pumped through the speakers which I found odd but the ambiance was still nice (tables, floor plan, cleanliness, etc)
The food was delicious (we all had different pastas) and share an app plus the drink + wine list had a good selection. That being said I was surprised at the portion sizes compared to the price. I understand that we are in SF and things are more expensive (labor, food cost, rent, etc) but for approx $27-$34 per pasta dish I expected a bit more in quantity, these were slightly larger then you would expect and appetizer to be. So be aware that this meal can get costly especially if you do a pasta followed by an entree.
With the above being said everything was delicious and the service was great. It is also very convenient for theater goers and those looking for some great Italian. I will definitely be back in the future.
Food was amazing and the service was top notch.
Great service, delicious food.
Will come back, for sure
Incredible, knowledgeable, and skilled staff! The food is amazing and the atmosphere and staff make this place awesome!
Great food and ambiance but a little pricy for Italian food. I gurss Because it’s San Francisco.
Zingari is in the city, but feels like a neighborhood place. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The service wasn't speedy, but this to me actually worked in the restaurant’s favor because it had a more European vibe and I didn’t feel rushed to plow through my food. I loved the jazz trio - their music selection and volume were perfect and truly added to the overall feel. I would enjoy going back on a night they have music and hang out at the bar. One tip- ask to sit on the music side if you want to hear it. I didn’t know to do that, but the staff kindly adjusted our location.
The cauliflower appetizer and pistachio gelato were both amazing. I thought the Fetuccine Alla Zingara was not flavorful. If I was to return to the restaurant, I would not order the fettucine again.
The service and food was great but it's overpriced for what you get.
We stopped here before our SF Broadway show - and unfortunately before Zingari's jazz performance started. The maitre 'd (whose family has had the restaurant for decades) was wonderfully friendly and welcoming; the wait staff was prompt, helpful and also friendly; and the food was simply wonderful. We'll be back!
All perfect! Just missed a tiny detail, a lemon squeezer:-). Not a big deal at all.
