the view was not what my party and i expected. we sat next to some construction and the wall was half of our view, we couldn’t see the city. the food was ok definitely over priced.
Slightly overrated. The food was okay, with okay views of the city line around. Maybe the rooftop really lights up in the night, but avoidable if you're looking for a quaint lunch ambience. The lobby is under construction, and hindered an overall appeal of the restaurant.
We ordered rosé with a fig dish and pesto appetizer. The appetizer was probably the nicest dish we had.
The restaurant overlooked logging my reservation, and I was charged $100 ($25 per person's reservation), even after we showed up and had meal at this establishment.
Forgettable lukewarm food, intense loud party music (Ofer Nissim, if you’re wondering), and a rude waiter who seems to hate his job are what accompanied this $370 dinner for 4.
The ear piercing party music was not what we expected from an Italian restaurant that serves $30 dishes.
We asked multiple times to reduce the volume of the loud music, but our request was ignored by the sweaty staff that seemed on a constant rush. This level of terrible service is something I rarely experience in San Francisco.
For the food - the Carbonara was thick as mayonnaise. The salmon was dry and were not sure what it was served with but that was not a risotto. The ahi tuna smelled fishy and gamy. The only good dish was the special focaccia they baked that evening, but that can’t be enjoyed with 250 bpm thumping music in our ears.
This is not the place for $30 dishes. Save your eardrums and go literally anywhere else.
Tons of construction
This wasn't exactly what I was expecting. If you are in the mood for loud music with a European disco-tech feel to it, this might be for you. The overall food was fine, we both ordered pasta which was good. However, everyone was so jam-packed into the "rooftop" location that it was hard to hear my boyfriend talk. The server didn't check up on us once during our meal, only to bring us the cheque and our food.
Food was great and reasonably priced. Hostess’s were the down fall of the whole experience, from not making any small talk while walking you to your table. After checking in with the hostess and being asked to wait 5 minutes, she never attempted to follow up with us or get out of her seat.
Food and service were excellent. Problem was outdoors - wind blowing at first, very chilly overall, and rooftop not that attractive! Don't hesitate to ask for a blanket.
Not impressed with the dinner selections at all. I am certain Covid has much to do with my experience, but I do think they need to rethink their reopening strategy.
1. We were offered a table right next to the window cleaning contraption. When we asked to move and WE selected our table, we happen to be right above a drain pipe. Unbeknownst to us both our coats were soaked by the end if the evening. Some tables did have umbrellas to address this issue but the waiters never once suggested we pick a table with an umbrella.
2. Food gets cold quick - not their fault but not good either. Also the raviolis I ordered smelled fishy and of poor quality shrimp.
3. We asked for blankets (they promote this) and we never got one until we asked three times.
4. Not enough heaters
5. You are literally in a roof top and the spaces is crude at best.
6. Good drinks and mediocre desserts
I hope this place rethinks their Covid reopening strategy as I am sure under normal conditions it’s a good place. But for the price I recommend you wait until indoor dining starts up again.
This was the BEST experience! The food was amazing and the service was even better. The view is also amazing - highly recommend!
1.5 hour wait for first appetizer to come out. Other customers who came after were served their full meal before us. Paid full price for the whole meal (+$200). Food was mediocre at best.
Our waiter Randy was timely, friendly and accommodating. Food rating order (best to moderate): dessert chocolate moose, appetizer ahi tuna, entree seafood fettuccine. Cute pink blankets were provided for use during dinner.
I would have preferred that the tables were pushed against the wall because it drizzled throughout dinner, it dampened the environment.
Would have wished that for a reserved client there would have been more options to either be inside or outside.
We had a 6 pm reservation. The host greeted us and told us to follow another host to the elevator. That host did not greet us or say anything as we were walking towards the elevator. As we got inside again do not say anything but she was playing with her fingernails. The ambience is very old-school. They did not consider the rain so we had a table with no umbrella. Where are my girlfriend sat there was a hole on the roof so every once in a while she will get a raindrop on her head. So we had to scoot the table down a little. Our first course was the prosciutto and the pesto gnocchi. The first course was OK. Our second course was the lamb chop and the steak wrapped with bacon. My girlfriends lamb chop was very gamy. And my steak was so dry. They did not ask me I wanted my steak but it was the driest steak I have ever had. I did not even finish my steak. Then our dessert course was a tiramisu cake and a cheesecake. My girlfriends tiramisu cake was more on the coffee side which made it bitter. My cheesecake was OK but the crust was soft. Overall the waiters and the host did not show any type of customer service for a restaurant of that caliber. They did not really do anything special to make me want to come back or for me to tell my friends to come try this place. They also charge me a 20% gratuity fee for just me and my girlfriend. For a restaurant that seems to be more on a classy high end did not show that in anyway. I am sure you can find a better restaurant for the price that they charge. Our bill was over 250 and honestly was not impressed at all.
It was spectacular!
We went here for Valentine’s Day and we were not impressed. Food was just okay - the pappardelle was way too thick and the portion was pretty small. We were talked into an appetizer that we didn’t initially want and it was meh and overpriced. On top of that, the music was very loud and it felt like we were in a discoteca in Europe. The waitstaff was friendly but a little too overzealous constantly checking in on us when we didn’t even have a chance to try our food. Overall, I wouldn’t go back.
Nice service, great view on roof top; food excellent, great wine selection
Celebrated my sons 23 birthday. What a wonderful experience with outstanding service. Food was delicious !
Provided blankets to cover up as it was a bit chilly. Nice big heater lamps.
Was excellent we would recommend the restaurant at any time
Lovely rooftop bar and outdoor dining. The service and food were great. Nice to have a little bit of normal. GREAT music during lunch too.
The service was really good but the food was okay it would have been nice if both food and service were fantastic because it would truly be a treat considering the location.
Food and service was A1!
A delightful spot on the roof. Excellent service, good food, a little pricey for what it was, but not outrageous!
First date night since everything opened up and we weren't really expecting anything special.
Service- amazing really attentive and informative.
Food - The appetizer servings were way too small and the main course was small and overly salted. We ended grabbing food else where... The staff was great though!
Ambiance - Great for a date night or catch up. (Bring a jacket)
Wine - Great wine selection.
Would come here again for the wine and service.
What a great treat dinner was @ Zingari!! The SIP had just been lifted and we staying @ The Donatello so it worked out beautifully that they had just opened. The rooftop dining was fantastic. The food was delicious and the Manager, Victor and his staff including our server Luis and the bartender Taylor were spot on with their service.
We'll certainly be back!!!
Horrible experience. Was sat at a table down a dark dingy walkway far away from the scenic patio in the photos. It was FREEZING cold and there were no heaters down this walkway. It was a vibeless, dark, dirty space that felt like a utility closet. 2 drinks and 2 entrees—$200. Took me an hour to warm up again when I got home.
Many thanks for your feedback. We would like the opportunity to make it right. Please message our Director, Neeraj Miglani at our business office. Email found on the 'Contact Page' of our website. Please share your phone number. We look forward to speaking with you. Best wishes and all the best.
This was a dinner celebration during COVID times so was limited to outdoors only. Maybe I’ll give a 5 stars when dining indoors and enjoying the full restaurant service.
So amazing! Got the lamb chops and mom got the stuffed chicken breast served with delicious veggies. Got the burrata appetizer which was great too
They were so wonderful and accomodating! Everything was beyond delicious!
My experience at Zingari Ristorante was very mediocre. I came here for my boyfriend’s birthday. Due to covid, we sat on a beautiful rooftop which at first was very romantic, but was unfortunately ruined by the very loud EDM music. We were seated very near the speakers so I understand that it was loud, however, the very EDM music ruined the mood and we had a difficult time communicating despite being right in front of each other. We also sat right next to a heater, but only seemed to produce minimal heat, which was a huge downside when eating around 8pm.
The service was very slow. The waiters were all very nice but the waiter spent hours before bringing our food. I believe we waited 30min for our appetizer, around 40min or more for our entrees, and even 20min for our dessert. This would have been understandable if the restaurant was busy, but we were one of the 2 last tables. We were pretty disappointed by the service.
Finally the food was overall very very good. My boyfriend got the veal steak and I got the pappardelle de la nonna. Both were very good but my pasta was a bit over seasoned, which is surprising because usually I always like my food extra-seasoned. The veal steak is definitely a masterpiece though. The appetizer was mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto. It tasted very good, but there could have been more mozzarella and less prosciutto. The desserts were cheesecake and profiteroles. Both were excellent and no complaint!
Overall, I was a dissatisfied but the food remained good.
Went there for my daughter’s birthday and was very disappointed in the food. Wine was just ok. They sat us next to where they made the drinks so that was not the greatest ambiance. Would not go back.
The rooftop dining area is cramped and heaters for the smaller tables should be installed, somehow. The food was outstanding. The view at night was a bit disappointing, considering that one is in San Francisco.
Great time. Would definitely recommend to anyone who’s looking for a nice dinner in SF.
Lucky we got to dine here before the new state order took effect. If was great they got to serve patrons on the outdoor rooftop but it lacked a bit of ambience. Techno music blaring through the big speakers I could have done without, made it hard to talk without raising voices. But the food was outstanding. I had the short rib pasta which was delicious. Paired with a siclian wine perfectly. Service was wonderful. I will be back once our life gets back to normal again.
Fabulous experience! Great dishes and wine. Our server was amazing and had the most perfect suggestions. Super owner, hard working and very personable. Definitely suggest supporting his restaurant
It was an ok experience, average at best. Food was served lukewarm, the music choice was questionable for a restaurant setting (even if it was the club seating), and the osobucco was good but the crab ravioli caused a few upset stomachs.
Awesome food. Terrible drinks.
Really loved the meal. Awesome view. And great music
We were not greeted at all while being passed multiple times until I finally asked for assistance for my reservation. We waited a full hour until bread was brought to our table. No napkin was provided until I asked, my order was incorrect and took a great deal of time for each meal. At the end my check had an extra charge then corrected after I pointed it out. Will never return there. There was no sense of professionalism or customer service.
Service all together was reasonable. But the hotel itself is just really run down. Hot water takes 10 minutes literally. Water dribbles put of the shower no pressure whatsoever. Making it hard to get clean as you would like to be so for the two days I was there I wasn’t comfortable at all. Then not to mention booking Zingari didn’t make it any better. We were on the 5th floor not the rooftop. Cold without any heat lamps very dark without lighting needing to use the phone to see the menu. Food was terrible as well. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at the very moment and feel like my money was stolen from me.
Thanksgiving in San Francisco. We were a bit worried about where to eat on thanksgiving with Covid. We were truly blessed and thankful to find this gem. We ate outside on the terrace and felt completely safe. Everything was clean and comfortable. The best was the food. Excellent. We travel to SF several times a year and we will definitely be eating here the very next time. We may also stay at the hotel because our experience was that great.
