My experience at Zingari Ristorante was very mediocre. I came here for my boyfriend’s birthday. Due to covid, we sat on a beautiful rooftop which at first was very romantic, but was unfortunately ruined by the very loud EDM music. We were seated very near the speakers so I understand that it was loud, however, the very EDM music ruined the mood and we had a difficult time communicating despite being right in front of each other. We also sat right next to a heater, but only seemed to produce minimal heat, which was a huge downside when eating around 8pm.
The service was very slow. The waiters were all very nice but the waiter spent hours before bringing our food. I believe we waited 30min for our appetizer, around 40min or more for our entrees, and even 20min for our dessert. This would have been understandable if the restaurant was busy, but we were one of the 2 last tables. We were pretty disappointed by the service.
Finally the food was overall very very good. My boyfriend got the veal steak and I got the pappardelle de la nonna. Both were very good but my pasta was a bit over seasoned, which is surprising because usually I always like my food extra-seasoned. The veal steak is definitely a masterpiece though. The appetizer was mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto. It tasted very good, but there could have been more mozzarella and less prosciutto. The desserts were cheesecake and profiteroles. Both were excellent and no complaint!

Overall, I was a dissatisfied but the food remained good.

Went there for my daughter’s birthday and was very disappointed in the food. Wine was just ok. They sat us next to where they made the drinks so that was not the greatest ambiance. Would not go back.

The rooftop dining area is cramped and heaters for the smaller tables should be installed, somehow. The food was outstanding. The view at night was a bit disappointing, considering that one is in San Francisco.

Lucky we got to dine here before the new state order took effect. If was great they got to serve patrons on the outdoor rooftop but it lacked a bit of ambience. Techno music blaring through the big speakers I could have done without, made it hard to talk without raising voices. But the food was outstanding. I had the short rib pasta which was delicious. Paired with a siclian wine perfectly. Service was wonderful. I will be back once our life gets back to normal again.

It was an ok experience, average at best. Food was served lukewarm, the music choice was questionable for a restaurant setting (even if it was the club seating), and the osobucco was good but the crab ravioli caused a few upset stomachs.

We were not greeted at all while being passed multiple times until I finally asked for assistance for my reservation. We waited a full hour until bread was brought to our table. No napkin was provided until I asked, my order was incorrect and took a great deal of time for each meal. At the end my check had an extra charge then corrected after I pointed it out. Will never return there. There was no sense of professionalism or customer service.

Service all together was reasonable. But the hotel itself is just really run down. Hot water takes 10 minutes literally. Water dribbles put of the shower no pressure whatsoever. Making it hard to get clean as you would like to be so for the two days I was there I wasn’t comfortable at all. Then not to mention booking Zingari didn’t make it any better. We were on the 5th floor not the rooftop. Cold without any heat lamps very dark without lighting needing to use the phone to see the menu. Food was terrible as well. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at the very moment and feel like my money was stolen from me.

Thanksgiving in San Francisco. We were a bit worried about where to eat on thanksgiving with Covid. We were truly blessed and thankful to find this gem. We ate outside on the terrace and felt completely safe. Everything was clean and comfortable. The best was the food. Excellent. We travel to SF several times a year and we will definitely be eating here the very next time. We may also stay at the hotel because our experience was that great.

Zingari food has always been excellent. But the creative way of staying open during the pandemic is a real accomplishment. I’ve had two very well prepared and served meals here on the terrace while a guest at the hotel. I’d love things to be normal, but since they aren’t, you can’t do better than authentic Italian food and cocktails made with love and care.

Went for a surprise party for my fiancée and it was the best pasta we’d had since Italy. Not an exaggeration. The wine list is impeccable, the staff was beyond helpful, and the ambiance with the fun “club” music made it a treat. Felt like we really went “out” for the first time during quarantine. Couldn’t recommend enough, will be back soon!!

The staff at zingari was AMAZING. Went out of their way to be accommodating. The food was next level, bombbbb Italian. The rooftop was fair protected great views, heaters and even blankets if needed. Cannot recommend enough!

The restaurant has a nice rooftop. The food is not bad, but nothing to write home about. We were a big party and tried many things on the menu. The dessert unfortunately was not good at all. The waiter recommended the bread pudding, which was the worst bread pudding I have ever tried. The service and ambiance was nice.

We went there for restaurant week with price fixed menu. We got there and found out almost everything on menu had a upcharge . My suggestion was just charge more for the fixed price dinner. Then we were told we both had to order the price fixed and one could not order off the regular menu. The salmon was good, the pasta cold. I would not go back.

We went for the SF restaurant week.
Service and ambiance was fantastic.
The Tonno was a big portion, and tasted great! + $6
The grandmother’s pasta short rib was also great. +$10
The bread pudding was hard and chewy.
The chocolate mousse was fabulous!
There were a lot of extra charges on the menu for the restaurant week.
We paid an average of $100 per person with wine (15-18), tax, sf health and 20% tip.
The $40 sf restaurant week for dinner is a fit deceiving.

Our server victor was fantastic! The food was delicious. We had the veal and pappardelle pasta dish and both we’re so tasty. It really has a lovely, upscale atmosphere. A little hard to see the full city view with the wall being on the higher side when sitting but still a fabulous view, perfect for a rooftop experience.

We had a great experience at Zingari. Wait staff were all nice and our busser was very sweet. Started with ricotta crostini,burrata and polenta. All were delicious. My fave was the polenta. The short rib pasta was amazing. Great flavors. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The rooftop is fun views of the city buildings. There are heat lamps so we were warm though still dress appropriately if it’s cold out. Drinks were tasty too. It is pricey for pasta so plan on spending some but to us it was worth it. Would go back again! Also we were celebrating two birthdays and they brought tiramisu with candles which was a nice touch

I was excited about enjoying a rooftop dinner at a highly rated Italian restaurant with my husband and daughter. What we experienced was quite the opposite.

We arrived right on time for our 8:30 reservation, very hungry! We were told to sit in the lounge, a waiting area of tables with used water glasses scattered about.

After waiting 20 minutes after our reservation time, watching other parties being called to their table, we decided to ask if we had been forgotten. Every person we asked we were pushed off to someone else, with no one taking responsibility. After getting more hungry by the minute, we asked the gentleman taking people to their tables. He reluctantly took us even though we were not even next on the list.

We were seated indoors next to the bar tender with the music way too loud. When I asked if we could sit outdoors like we had specifically requested, we were told, this is the best you are going to get.

My 20 year old daughter was looking through the wine menu and our server abruptly took it from her and asked if she was old enough to drink. She was only looking at it, not ordering a drink. It seemed for some reason he was in a hurry every time he spoke to us!

Long story short (or shorter) the calamari was awful, the gnocchi was delicious (one highlight) the carbonara was terrible and the salmon was good. The carbonara was so bad I couldn’t even eat it! They were actually kind enough to take that off our bill which was very kind.

Lastly, before leaving, I went to the restroom where there was no toilet paper and for an upscale restaurant, it was a disgusting disaster!

Unfortunately it was not the experience we were expecting and we will not be returning.

The food was so tasty! They are not ready to be open in a post-COVID world. The waiting area was too small and we waiting over 20 minutes to be taken to our table, even with a reservation. The tables didn't seem to be 6 feet apart and the narrow patio doesn't allow for distancing when servers are walking by to another table. The servers and staff were running around in a frenzy as if this was their first day open - all the processes must be new now. On the way down we were instructed to share a small elevator with another party, which seems like it should be optional. Everyone did have on masks and the servers were friendly. Overall, the food was delicious and they need to perfect their processes for this new normal.
