We really enjoyed the jazz quartet that played for the evening; it made the evening very special. They were not too loud so you could converse and enjoy your food and libations. It made our visit fun.

The restaurant was nice, delicious food and excellent service, but with tip we paid $180 for dinner for two, which seemed a bit on the expensive side.

This place thrives on defrauding tourists, and OpenTable helps them do it. I had no ability to change my reservation after making it (they won't let you do so, 1 week prior, and I booked 3 days beforehand). These criminals charged me $50 x 3 people, even though the place was empty except for 2 other tables. The food was truly mediocre, undeserving of it's current rating. Avoid at all cost, and in fact, OpenTable should drop them for the reputational risk alone.

My boyfriend and I went here for our 3 year anniversary on a Saturday night with reservations at 6pm. For a Saturday night in SF it wasn't crowded at all, didn't need the reservation I guess! We both got the crab ravioli special and shared bread pudding for dessert, everything tasted amazing and didn't take long at all. The service was on point and the place wasn't noisy, just some jazz music playing and subtle voices from other groups in the room. Excellent experience!

Nice, quiet ambience for dinner on New Years Day. I ordered a dirty vodka martini and it came with a ripped in half olive hanging on the toothpick. Just saying if I were the bartender, I would have chucked that damaged olive. My husband ordered the PAPPARDELLE DELLA NONNA which he found to be heavy and chewy. I had a special, the CRAB STUFFED RAVIOLI, topped with shrimp. It was okay, but they make their pastas in house and I was expecting....better. It was so-so and also heavy. I read online where they greet you with an aperitif and amuse bouche, but we weren’t offered either. There are better options nearby and next time we are in the city, I will remember to book early elsewhere. Sorry.

We went there for New Year's eve with 2 young children. We knew that the adult menu was 110$ on NY's eve. However we specified that the kids would not take a menu but only a plate of spaghetti. Nobody warned us on the price. They charged us 55$ for each: 110$ for 2 plates of spaghetti. This is absolutely ridiculous.

If you sit in the piano bar area and the musicians are playing, the music and ambiance overshadow the under salted, over cooked food. The pappardelle was so over cooked it was in 1 inch pieces and not as good as we make at home. BUT we don’t have. a 3 piece band playing killer Django Reinhardt jazz at home nor a good italian wine list and smooth service. The food isn’t that good, but overall the experience was positive.

Great personable and knowledgeable service - Stefano is a treasure. His wine assistance was spot on and conversation we invited was engaging. Food is creative and well prepared.
Jazz from the adjacent dining room made for nice ambiance as the side dining room is narrow and functional.

We wanted to find a great Italian restaurant near Union Square - with some jazz music if possible - and this was ideal. We were a bit early (6:00 pm) and while there was no live music when we were there, we had some terrific recorded jazz while we ate.

The meal was superb and the service awesome. Our waiter - Stefano - was charming and provided some great options for myself and my family. Two of us chose the crab-ravioli special and it was very tasty. There were a couple vegetarian options that satisfied our group as well. The brussels sprout appetizer (Cavoletti di Bruxelles) was awesome and we liked the Fig toast too. Highly recommended.

I am not usually a complainer but Christmas dinner was a disappointment. The food was OK but not up to the high standards of what we expect in this town. The wait staff was not attentive; we had wanted cocktails before dinner but they never gave us that opportunity. They just wanted to take our food order. When the drinks did come it was after the first course had been served. The bar is tiny so don’t expect to have a relaxed drink listening to music while waiting for your table. There are two dining rooms of equal size and in the back one you can not hear the live music. You only know it is playing as they turn off the recorded background music. Automatic 20% tip which I didn’t like as I wanted to tip less due to lackluster service. For $130 per person there are much better dining and music options in San Francisco.

Visiting San Francisco and came here for dinner on Christmas Day. Picked it thinking the live Jazz would be fun. It was only OK. Dined at 7:30....Perhaps it gets more lively later! Was a little disappointed that the meal became a price fix for the holiday but choices were diverse. Portions were good as was the service, however our table was too close to the Bar so people were kind of “on top of us.” I know they were trying to squeeze in as many as possible for the holiday so we made the best of it but I would suggest they re-think using that table. All in all, it was fine.

We had Christmas dinner here and were sorely disappointed in the quality of the meal. For the price, I had much higher expectations. My "medium rare" lamb was served "well-done" over cold vegetables, the polenta was gritty. For dessert, the creme brulee was still frozen on the bottom and rather than a creamy consistency throughout, it was crumbly and chunky. The hardened sugar top was non-existent, someone barely put a blow torch to it so it was still gummy. And they served it with a fork. Creme brulee is always served with a spoon.

Terrible terrible terrible!!!!! The Christmas set menu was a joke. It ended up costing us $300 Australian dollars which was an absolute rip off for the meal that we were served. My medium lamb chops came out blue and then when they were sent back to be cooked to medium they came back with cut marks all through them. So the chefs either washed the cheese sauce off and recooked the ones I had already cut open or cooked new ones and then cut them open to check that they were cooked properly. You would think that for $85 US per person that a chef would know how to cook meat properly as there is a big difference between raw and medium. Then when dessert arrived it wasn’t even what I ordered. By this stage I was annoyed about the whole thing and couldn’t be bothered complaining again! I did however recieve a complimentary glass of wine for the undercooked lamb but for the price the meal should have been amazing not dismal. I recommend to save your money and head to Mission or Chinatown for meals well worth the cost and yum factor!

My wife and I went here for a Christmas dinner. It was a pre-fix meal which we new about. My wife ordered the Filet Mignon. It was charred to burnt on the outside. Not what one would expect from a restaurant like this. Tasted horrible. She couldn't even finish her meal. The waiter we had was good. He was attentive, friendly, and polite. The dinning areas were a bit small but cozy. the issue is the noise. We could barely hear ourselves talk. I will not be going back to Zingari nor would I recommend them to any friends.

Food was good but, being Christmas, it was outrageously expensive. It had never been mentioned that there was a Christmas fix menu that costed 85 USD per person and that, on the top of it, you had to add 55 USD for the gratuity.

The quality, preparation, portion-sizes, variety and, most importantly, TASTE of the food were OUTSTANDING. The good-natured wait-staff was professional and helpful throughout the meal. Explanations and descriptions of the food and wines came quickly and were easy to understand. They were also very accurate. It was easily one of my best meals of the past year (or two).

My mom loves live music, good food, and a fun location. I thought Zingari near Union Square would be perfect for Christmas Eve.

It was such a subpar experience. It was made worse by the fact that it was $85 pre fix only, with 20% gratuity automatically added on to the full bill. We were seated in what felt like an extra table added to the bar area. Staff and patrons kept hitting the back of my husband’s chair. Our waiter was MIA. A guy eventually came to take our wine order; we eventually flagged him down to take our main order. I had no idea it was pre-fix—I noted after dinner that it was noted on the website, but I had booked the reservation on Open Table week’s prior and so didn’t know (my bad for not checking back beforehand). We asked for bread, because we were hungry and saw some delivered to another table—our waiter suggested we wouldn’t need bread, but could bring if we wanted to. My lamb chops would have likely been good (though not a lot of meat) had they not been drenched in Gorgonzola cheese (as was my husband’s filet mignon, though not as heavily). The jazz singer started at 8pm, which would have been nice had we not been right in front of it (it just a little loud and intrusive for such a pricey dinner). The only time our waiter asked us a question was near the end—another bottle of wine? And then he asked a second after we finished dessert—coffee?

I felt like we fell for a Union Square or Pier 39 tourist scam while knowing as a 20 year resident of San Francisco that there are such great restaurants worth a visit. I write this to save you—fellow resident or out of town visitor we are grateful to have in our city— from a similar experience.

Went here for a festive Christmas eve dinner. Set menu was $85 per person. Over $1,300 for dinner for 10. Which especially hurt because we had 6 teenagers. Anyway it is what it is as far as the price. But was most disappointing is the ambience of the place. It’s a very broken up and choppy layout with about three small dining rooms and A tiny tiny bar placed in the middle of what was kind a like a maze. Just was expecting a festive holiday dinner and we are put in a room with zero windows, None. Felt claustrophobic.
I will say food was great as was the service. Sadly, none of us would go back due to the ambience.

Shambolic! 8pm reservation. Drinks were slow. Appetizers arrived eventually but only half of them. The other half arrived some time after the first half were finished. Baked mozzarella: anticipated something warm and oozing, reality was cold and rubbery - after 40 mins baking!!! Entree arrived similarly slowly and similarly incomplete. By 9:30 I’d had one drink and a slice of bread. Asked to speak to the manager, who eventually sauntered over after checking in with several other tables on the way. By this time the other entrees had arrived and they were good - but who cares when you’re having such an unpleasant experience. He was uncaring, blamed the entire problem on his waiter and seemed to think buying me off with free booze would be adequate. This restaurant can’t go out of business soon enough in my opinion. Some nice jazz - my Mother asked them to play Stormy Night and they covered it beautifully.

Exceptional dinner with holiday carolers before the Christmas weekend. The staff was attentive without being too stuffy or intrusive during our meal. We enjoyed the Fig Toast appetizer before our pasta course, a smart choice for a lighter start. The pasta was well prepared and seasoned perfectly.
