Zingari Ristorante + Jazz Bar Ratings and Reviews
I’m sorry to be giving such a low rating but the bill arrived and shocked us (tbh, my husband paid it and didn't tell me until we were home).
We started out with some lovely appetizers and cocktails. When it came time to order the waiter described the tasting menu as designed for two to split and that is what we thought we ordered, along with a shared wine flight. Based on the bill total, we were charged for two separate tasting menus & wine flights (given the amount of wine, I don't begrudge them charging for two flights; those were very generous portions).
The tasting menu was served as a single order, so again we assumed we were sharing a single order.
The food was delicious, the wait staff pleasant, but the surprise bill has left a bitter taste in my mouth.
We were last minute making a reservation for a party of 10. Zingari found room for us! From the moment we arrived to moment we left everything was spot on. Be sure to find out what the specials are we tried all three they had the evening, and all were very good! You can't go wrong with the spaghetti and meatballs though they were delicious!
The restaurant was crowded when we arrived ,but we were seated immediately because we had made reservations. The service was a little slow to begin, but eventually we were well taken care of. All were happy with our dinners and the background jazz.
Great service and food. We had to ask to change our table because we were first seated right by the elevator and the kitchen door. They should place chairs to wait for seating in this location. Eating in this area would be very noisy and unpleasant.
Went for Thanksgiving; when I made the reservation they had not posted that it was going to be a prie fixe menu; which I generally try to avoid. Fortunately, their prie fixe was varied enough with lots of choices. I had the filet mignon which was fabulous, perfectly cooked with a wonderful sauce. My husband's pasta came with shrimp which was not mentioned on the menu; he enjoyed it. It was very crowded and warm but the noise level was not unbearable, which is something I am really sensitive to. Our waiter, Mikeala (sp?), was a wonderful and charming and gracious host, gave us plenty of time to enjoy our meal without ever feeling rushed, which I was afraid was going to happen. My husband and I are both Italian and to rush a holiday meal is a sin! Dessert was yummy too. All in all, we really enjoyed our dinner. We will came back!
We appreciated that Zingari was open on Thanksgiving and offered a nice range of selections in their prix fixe menu. We accepted $85/person for San Francisco holiday dining. The problem was that we were very obviously and unpleasantly rushed through our meal. Our drinks arrived just before the appetizers, and the entrees were delivered as soon as the appetizer plates were cleared. A manager stopped by to check on our experience, but by that point the deed was done. You can't un-rush service. The server whose sole duty was swooping in to move our bread plates to their "proper" position throughout the meal offered the most memorable moments of the day.
It was very good. The only real complaint is that since it was my birthday, I wish they had offered us to sit by the music. We did not get to enjoy one minute of it since we were seated on the wrong side of the restaurant. I wish they had at least asked me since it was noted as my birthday. Very nice space and would go again but be sure to ask where to sit.
The noise level was unbearable. We were shouting to each other just to be heard which ruins any meal. We asked to be moved or we'd leave. The next dining area was nearly vacant and much quieter. We were able to talk to one another and enjoy a delicious meal. We will not return.
The restaurant looked beautiful. The servers were amazing, they answered all our questions. And the food was incredible! Drinks and main course was delicious ans creative (who thinks of strawberry pasta?). 4 stars however because the desserts did not match the main course's quality.
Mushroom soup recommended was subsequently not available. Minestrone soup as a substitute was thin and relatively tasteless. The Caesar salad was divine. Scallops and beets were served in a bowl
That emanated heat. Not to
My liking. Service was attentive.
I would recommend with reservation.
The host was very warm and was very helpful with our request to be by the live jazz.
Other guests in the restaurant we too loud to really enjoy the music.
The food was so delicious (highly recommend the squash risotto for any vegetarians!)
The cocktails were great too especially pepinos revenge! ^_^
It is a great place for a date and has a very nice ambience about it with servers who are very attentive and food that is worth the price.
My husband and I visited and were blown away by the amazing customer service. The owner himself made sure we had a cozy table in a room that was quiet so we could hear. He gave us a complimentary drink to start our meal and checked with us many times to make sure our experience was wonderful. Would definitely visit here again.
My husband and I were sat in some dark unappealing room with no windows Away from the live music, so we asked to move to the bar area. When it came to ordering I asked what something was on the menu and the waiter replied with an attitude making me feel stupid. I ordered the slow braised beef and I maybe got 4 pieces that were chewy and not tender. My husband ordered steak, medium well with a little pink. It came back rare so the waiter took it back and when he brought out the cooked steak it was all charred. This was probably the worst restaurant we have ever been to. It was very disappointing having to pay $133 on a meal that was horrible.
The restaurant is listed under Steakhouse and it is not. We went thinking its a steakhouse open table needs to change that. The safest thing on the menu seemed to be breast of chicken. It was so hard we couldn't chew it. Horrible! The Jazz is in a completely other room you cant hear it or see it. The restaurant is VERY narrow and long feels like you are in a train. Service was horrible. Everyone was rushed with attitude and we did not feel like VIP's for the price we paid. Not a good experience at all. For sure not going back.
We had a great night here. The food was excellent, service outstanding, and the music was great. Our server was attentive and always there to refill an empty wine glass or make a recommendation. The band was fun, playing a number of standards with their own spin!
We have been here a few previous occasions and enjoyed the food and the location. We decided to try it again this time in San Francisco and we were not disapointed. One caution, I had a glass of super tuscan wine but on the bill I was charged for a bottle. After I pointed out the mistake to the manager he immediately corrected it and told me the two keys are next to each other on the computer. Make sure to check your bill.
