Zingari Ristorante + Jazz Bar Ratings and Reviews
The noise level was unbearable. We were shouting to each other just to be heard which ruins any meal. We asked to be moved or we'd leave. The next dining area was nearly vacant and much quieter. We were able to talk to one another and enjoy a delicious meal. We will not return.
Mushroom soup recommended was subsequently not available. Minestrone soup as a substitute was thin and relatively tasteless. The Caesar salad was divine. Scallops and beets were served in a bowl
That emanated heat. Not to
My liking. Service was attentive.
I would recommend with reservation.
The host was very warm and was very helpful with our request to be by the live jazz.
Other guests in the restaurant we too loud to really enjoy the music.
The food was so delicious (highly recommend the squash risotto for any vegetarians!)
The cocktails were great too especially pepinos revenge! ^_^
It is a great place for a date and has a very nice ambience about it with servers who are very attentive and food that is worth the price.
My husband and I visited and were blown away by the amazing customer service. The owner himself made sure we had a cozy table in a room that was quiet so we could hear. He gave us a complimentary drink to start our meal and checked with us many times to make sure our experience was wonderful. Would definitely visit here again.
My husband and I were sat in some dark unappealing room with no windows Away from the live music, so we asked to move to the bar area. When it came to ordering I asked what something was on the menu and the waiter replied with an attitude making me feel stupid. I ordered the slow braised beef and I maybe got 4 pieces that were chewy and not tender. My husband ordered steak, medium well with a little pink. It came back rare so the waiter took it back and when he brought out the cooked steak it was all charred. This was probably the worst restaurant we have ever been to. It was very disappointing having to pay $133 on a meal that was horrible.
The restaurant is listed under Steakhouse and it is not. We went thinking its a steakhouse open table needs to change that. The safest thing on the menu seemed to be breast of chicken. It was so hard we couldn't chew it. Horrible! The Jazz is in a completely other room you cant hear it or see it. The restaurant is VERY narrow and long feels like you are in a train. Service was horrible. Everyone was rushed with attitude and we did not feel like VIP's for the price we paid. Not a good experience at all. For sure not going back.
We had a great night here. The food was excellent, service outstanding, and the music was great. Our server was attentive and always there to refill an empty wine glass or make a recommendation. The band was fun, playing a number of standards with their own spin!
We have been here a few previous occasions and enjoyed the food and the location. We decided to try it again this time in San Francisco and we were not disapointed. One caution, I had a glass of super tuscan wine but on the bill I was charged for a bottle. After I pointed out the mistake to the manager he immediately corrected it and told me the two keys are next to each other on the computer. Make sure to check your bill.
For the price I was expecting pasta made on premises. I would be shocked if this was. Plain and boring a bit flavorless.
The jazz i heard was boring elevator type music. Not my type of jazz. But that's personal and some people may enjoy that.
Service was fine nothing to rave about but no complaints. Just whatever. I think the manager likes to interact but didn't identify himself so when he came over and started asking what we wanted we were a little confused and caught off guard. Why are you here?
As a SF resident I was giving this place a try mainly for the music but maybe next time I will order take out and put a record on.
The place is right at Union Square and it's very nice. The menu is just amazing and the specials of the seemed all delicious. The wine list is very nice with many options and the servers are just the best. My tuna was cooked to perfection and my son had a ravioli with strawberries that were delicious. Will certainly return
I was really excited about this place but unfortunately it did not deliver. We were seated in what felt like the end of a hallway, no jazz/music/ambiance. The server was quite rude and my seafood pasta was fairly tasteless. My partners pasta with sausage meat was quite tasty but not worth the price.
First time visit for us. Had late night reservation with guests we'd just picked up at SFO. Because it was our guests' first visit to SF I was hopeful that this would make a good impression. Stefano took such great care of us, was very knowledgeable about the menu and explained the nightly specials in great detail. We ordered two of the specials and they were both outstanding! The entire staff was attentive and very friendly. They even brought out a tiramisu for our friend that was celebrating his 50th birthday!! I received many accolades from our group for making such a great selection in Zingari 😁
Quite disappointed. Host a bit overbearing and upselling. Sunday night food seemed to be a mix of fresh with leftovers. Sauces great in flavor but mixed with tired meat. Asked if we'd like bread with dinner and at bill time learned it came at cost of $1.50 per head extra. Lovely jazz room but would not recommend entree value. Appetizers were perfect though.
This place is ridiculously overpriced. Some of the food was delicious (rigatoni with sausage), while some of the food was barely passable (fettuccini with chicken). They do offer to make any of their pastas without meat, which was nice for the vegetarians in our group. But overall, the value for what they serve simply isn't there. Portion sizes were average. If they offered half-sized pastas, and reduced the prices of their salads, or at least offered a reasonably priced side-salad, I miiiight consider recommending this place.
We were seated right next to the piano, which had a microphone - so once he started playing, we had to shout in order to hear each other - it felt like we were in competition. Once the singer started (who was very good), there was no way someone could carry on a quiet conversation. So if you really want to go and sit silently next to the people with whom you're dining, this is perfect. To be fair, the singer was amazing and she encouraged couples to come and dance, but the dance floor was so small it meant that you were cheek-to-cheek with someone else's date, as well as with the singer herself.
