Zingari Ristorante + Jazz Bar
Zingari means gypsies in Italian, and refers to the people, or nomads, who live and travel through Europe and other parts of the world. They are renowned for their rich culture and dazzling aesthetic; their songs, poetry, and dance convey mystery and romance. The Zingari people remind us to travel light and carry a smile—to be open to discovery and new delights. Cheers, a toast to Italy, and welcome to Zingari Ristorante.

We have been going to Zingari for 15 or more years, and over that time the restaurant has been
Wenton valentines night. But not “celebrating “. Prow fix was over price and food was adequate at best. Deserts dry. Service was fractured between teams. Have eaten here many times in past. Tonight was a disappointment
A little overpriced for what it is, and definitely not where locals eat, but overall a good spot for tourists.
One of the most sensational meals I have ever had. Exquisite food and simply perfect service. Then the jazz was amazing as well. Not sure there are enough accolades for this dining experience. I can't wait to go back and will make this part of every trip to SFO.
Very good before Geary theater theater dining venue. Food very good, wait staff professional and solid wine list.
20% service charge added to every bill regardless of party size. The cacio e pepe was the best dish. We ordered the scallops for an appetizer. Somehow the 3 scallops tasted fine but the sweet potato mash tasted like soap. Not a hint of sweet potato not sure how that was accomplished. Scallops were $28 :(
The live jazz only serves half the restaurant. The other half is separated
We had a wonderful beet burrata salad followed by delicious salmon ragout and shortrib pappardelle. Staff is very friendly and courteous and the location can't be beat. Zingari is a great place to dib=ne before Theatre.
Bad, overpriced food. Kinda felt robbed.
The food was excellent. Wine choices by the glass and carafe were limited but reasonably good. Our server, Nikola, was excellent!!
Food was delicious. Fresh, great presentation. They accommodated vegan and gluten free choices for me too. We started with a vegan appetizer trio of roasted veggies. We gene Brussels sprouts could taste good. I had the butternut squash risotto and my husband the lamb. We share a yummy chocolate mousse torte for dessert.
We went to see a play at Curran theatre. The restaurant is only a block away so very convenient if you are going to the theatre.
As always, the food was excellent, the service delightful. My friend and I come here before going to a play down the street at the Geary (ACT), and we've never been disappointed.
Great place with live music, wonderful staff, and incredible wine list!
Awesome place! Really enjoyed our time! Part of 6!
Unfortunately, in my opinion the restaurant is too expensive for one food not good enough.
Excellent service received from jelena the host
Great time dining at Zingari. Service was excellent and personable. We also enjoyed the live Jazz band. The wife and I truly enjoyed our date night thanks to the staff and good vibes from the other patrons visiting Zingari.
They placed us directly next to the band so it was abnormally loud. Service was slow, appetizers came out before our drinks. Main dish of pasta was good, came out hot. Servers overall were pretty slow to respond to our requests (more drinks, more bread, water).
Awesome dining experience!!! Awesome service & great jazz!!’
Great place for date night or dinner in the Union Square area.
Like everything in San Francisco, you pay dearly, including the lovely mandatory 20% tip (gee, remember in the good old days where the consideration was based upon the food only and not the bar tab??).
That being said, the small dining area overlooking the street was crowded and very noisy but the service was friendly and the food....ah the food - still the best oso bucco in town, and the mousse cake was heavenly, as was the ahi appetizer and carpaccio - so.... if you are into the food and don't mind the noise or the prices - yes, then I would recommend Zingari.
My team of 17 loved this restaurant. They said the food was delicious and the live jazz music was far enough away to be very nice background music - not too loud to talk over. Thank you!
The service was great. The food was very good. It was more expensive than I anticipated. I wasn’t impressed that they added a 20% tip to the bill then offered to allow you to give more. I don’t plan to go there again.
Loved the jazz ensemble! Great food & wine. Delicious after dinner drinks!
Everything was great other than the table location. They have tables down this hall. The hall is very noisy and echos others conversations. Making it loud and hard to have your own private conversation
First of all - the service was top notch. Very attentive. Took our order right away for appetizer (very small mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto) and then came back to take our dinner order. Coming by to refill the water and wine glasses often. Food came quickly. I had the braised short rib in pasta and it was so good. Big portions for the main course. My husband had the lamb chops and he really liked those too. The only issue is the setting. We were seated near the bar area and the tables are really close. We could hear the conversations next to us. Not an intimate setting at all but the food and service were excellent.
Dining rooms (yes, there are several) are ”sterile” and have no ambience. But food ls top-notch and staff friendly and very service-minded. I can recommend the fish soup.
Inattentive service. Lack of attention. Bread was forgotten, tap water mixed with sparkling in the glass despite bottle at table...
The automatic inclusion of 20% service may have resulted in disregard to clients needs.
We were not told there would be a $50 charge per head when I made the reservation and would have like more transparency on Open Table reservations or on the website with a note about JPM.
The chicken tasted like plastic. Very disappointed.
Ridiculous pricing. Took 15 mins to seat us. And we were only there for 35 minutes. $560 bill for 8 people for buffet which was meh. The coffee drinks were not included in the $50 per person buffet. Ridiculous.
Charged $280 for a dish without explaining why. Apparently minimum $50 charge per person
Very busy in spite of booking had to wait to check in.
A levy of minimum $50 plus fixed service charge plus taxes.
A very over priced lunch !!
Food mixed - one pasta dish not fully cooked.
the food was more than great but the experience was extremely unpleasant. the staff members were rude and extremely unprofessional.
The food was excellent, but the ambience felt like I was in a diner... cold and unfeeling. Thank goodness there was music!
Good Italian that's reasonably priced (especially given the location) and attentive, friendly service. It's not the best Italian but it's good Italian and a great location to go for a pre-theatre meal if you're headed to ACT or Curran or other events in the Union Square area. Good for groups too.
Service is outstanding. Food was delicious. I’m not from San Francisco, so price was higher than what I’m used to, but I also know this is what dining is in SF. Can’t say enough about the waitstaff - attentive, made great suggestions, two of them shook my hand as I was leaving and seemed genuinely glad to talk to me. Only improvement - if I had been sitting with a view of the harbor - but the restaurants along there were booked out until later. I was able to get in immediately which was why I decided to try Zingari. Great experience.
The food simply wasn't up to scratch for the price. There was a sprout starter that included bacon bits which were hard and overcooked, when we said this to the waiter he simply said that's the way it should be! Haven eaten in Italy frequently I completely disagree. The mains were average. So poor service and ok food at hefty price tag, disappointing.
The choice was not incredible. The food did not leave us a memorable experience. It seems the owner/ manager gives more importance to his regulars than to his first time customers- which is fair- but it should not be that obvious. Overall good but pricey and there is better alternative out there.
