food was terrible, and way over priced. had to send our cocktails back because they were undrinkable. the server was sweet so didn't want to make a scene. was our 25th wedding anniversary and was a very disappointing experience, ended up taking my wife to another place to eat because she was still hungry, as her entree was inedible. don't know where all the glowing reviews came from for this joint but was a waste of money, would not recommend this place even to someone i didn't like.
4 of us, 1 was the applicant from out of state. 3 of us ordered the same thing, Manhattan???, a 45 day aged steak, all cooked medium well, . . They were the toughest steak I’ve had in a long time. For something aged at 45 days, not very flavorful or tender at all. Also the ice cream sandwich was a total failure, . . . Cookie hard as a rock and took forever to the out. That’s it.
The food was pretty great. So was our server. Our main issue was the GM with his untucked shirt, sneezing in the center of the dining room and likely frequent smoke breaks because he radiates cigarette smoke. On a night with maybe three or four other tables in the entire dining room the sloppy “manager” was an unfortunate focal spot.
Food was so-so thus time. We were a little disappointed in that since we go to Zinc for the food.
We had an excellent Sunday brunch here. Good service & very good food. The Cubano sandwich was wonderful .
We fell in love with this restaurant right from the moment that we walked in. Leah was our server, and she was phenomenal from the get go. My wife ordered the fish and I had the beef and I cannot tell you how great of a meal Kevin Hughes cooked for us. I will say this, that we came by for Sunday brunch the next day on our way to the airport because the food was so good. We will be back.
Great food and service. Would recommend for anyone who loves quality ingredients at a fair price.
A friend recommended & we’re glad we came. Not only were our entree meats exceptionally prepared (the pepper steak & the lamb), but the sides could have been the stars of the show. That’s always a good sign.
Zinc is a hidden gem. Non-pretentious, fabulous single glass selections. Half glass selections. 375ml selections. Had a wonderful Rhone white, then a Bordeaux white. Yummy!
Great restaurant, great service and delicious food!
We found the food and drink to be very good (in the $$ to $$ range). We had the trout potato pancake and the duck eggrolls appetizers. While I cannot vouch the eggrolls, they all disappeared before I could have one, the trout potato pancake was delicious. They have a full bar but a very extensive wine list (by the glass or bottle). I really liked the seared flank steak (medium rare) with the mashed potatoes. It also comes with onion rings on top. If you want a salad, it is extra. Let's just say, it was a clean plate when the wait staff picked it up. We also indulged in chocolate terrine and the cobbler desserts. Again, there wasn't anything leftover to take home. Some might consider Zinc pricey, but I think you get what you pay for. Service was impectable and attentive. It was loud only because there is a lot of hard surfaces and the sound bounces around a lot. The facility could use more sound absorption. Parking might be the biggest issue, especially if you have anyone with a walker (we did) or wheel chair. If you don't mind walking, then no problem. All in all, we have no regrets. Zinc was a last minute change to our plans and they were able to take our reservation without any problems (party of 7). If you are looking for a special occasion, I would highly recommend Zinc as a destination.
I just happen to come across this place online while looking for places to eat. Read the info and seemed pretty good. We went for the Sunday Brunch. Arrived at 11:30 AM. Easy find and easy parking. Great place to relax and enjoy the live smooth guitar playing. Enjoyed our meal. Great prices! Food was awesome. It was different and something to try new. We will certainly be back.
Everything five star from our table location, server, ambiance, food and great restaurant culture.
As always, Zinc provided the perfect evening with a superb meal and perfect service. Consistently wonderful restaurant.
Great food, ambience and server. Server was one of the most attentive and helpful I have encountered in years!
Unfortunately we ordered and ate fish on a Sunday night which meant it was past its prime and tasted fishy rather than fresh.
We're new to the area and heard about Zinc and decided to try. Our entrees were creative and really delicious. We were pleased with the wine menu and recommendations too.
Excellent as always. One of our favorites. I had the medallions of beef and my husband had the piquant chicken breast. It was a beautiful presentation, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
I brought a friend that had never been to Zinc before to celebrate his birthday. He loved it! He was amazed at the attentive service as well as the diversified menu. He had a chicken dish and I had a halibut dish and we shared. His birthday dessert was SO good. Zinc is my favorite restaurant in Albuquerque.
I regularly catch up with friends at Zinc, where our experience has been predictably very satisfying. We trust that it won't disappoint, and it doesn't. We regularly have good food, drink, service, ambience and conversation in the main dining room (preferably at the bar, or window seating). This last time, the food and wine were especially good (with some additions to the menu), as was the service and other attention we received. The overall experience was excellent.
we had a lovely time at brunch and the chef made a special vegan option for me that was so very delicious!
Enjoyed the ambiance and quiet space. Food is always high quality.
My first visit to Zinc was great! Rick our server was wonderful, food was delicious, and wine was lovely.
Sunday brunch was outstanding! Food, service, and atmosphere top notch!
We dined at Zinc on a Monday evening after flying into ABQ. The place was pretty much empty with only one other table occupied. Our server was great, recommending different drinks and offering us samples. We both had seafood dishes. The portions were generous but the food itself was just okay. I'd return for a nice lunch or everyday dinner. Probably not for a special occasion.
Chris Pope and his staff provide a great dining experience. Everyone is friendly, accommodate special seating requests, provide great food and great service in a relaxing atmosphere.
The outstanding dining experience, excellent service!
We went to dinner at ZINC on Central Avenue, on our way to the Popejoy Theater’s KING AND I production, and the food and service were absolutely OUTSTANDING – as usual! We’ve been to Zinc many times before, and this was another great experience. First, we have to THANK our super-fantastic server Jesse for his constant attentiveness and excellent suggestions for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We started with a special new appetizer – Prosciutto-Wrapped Figs; it was amazingly tasty and delicious! My wife ordered the Pan-Seared Aegean Sea Branzino, and I ordered the Braised Beef Ravioli Bourguignon. The Branzino was perfectly cooked and delicious, and the artichokes and carrots were perfectly tender, and the 2 crab spanakopita’s were exquisite. My wife said the lemon coulis base was interesting but too bitter for her tastes – she avoided it. My dinner was also fantastic, with 5 huge beef-packed ravioli covered in a rich red wine sauce, along with tender baby carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms, English peas, over a celery root-potato puree. Absolutely mouth-watering! YUM! Then for dessert, I ordered the Chocolate Truffle with 3 samples of chocolate, and my wife ordered the Chocolate Chip-Walnut Gateau. We easily devoured both fantastic desserts! They have a fantastic wine, beer and drink menu – ideal for Happy Hours too! The ambiance at ZINC is beautiful upscale, service is fantastic, and prices very reasonable for the great quality of food. Thanks again for great service, Mr. Jesse! Very highly recommended. (BTW, the KING & I was Great!)
Another great brunch at Zinc. I had requested in my reservation to be seated on their upper level and they had noted and accommodated that request for us - love it when restaurants do that.
We were here celebrating Father's day for my husband this time and the place was hopping. Though it was very busy, we did not have to wait a single minute for our table and our waiter was professional yet relaxed and friendly - really fantastic young man. We were provided an attentive yet unobtrusive dining experience. The whole front of house team clearly works well together and show a commitment to helping each other succeed. I worked my way through school in some of the best restaurants on the east coast, so I tend to look closely at how the staff interact.
If Zinc's owners are reading this, you really need to know that you have a phenomenal front of house team who truly care about their work, each other and your customers. Do not take that for granted.
The "build your own brunch" option is a must and is so ample, two could share it and be more than satiated. Their french toast is like no other we have ever had, anywhere. Imagine if a beignet and a funnel cake fell in love and had a baby - just ridiculously delicious.
My mother had the salmon eggs Benedict special which was fabulous. Hubby had the florentine omelette and our 8 year old had berry crepes. I had bacon and eggs - a purist. Another must, whether for brunch, dinner, or snacking in their fantastic cellar bar, are the duck confit eggrolls - seriously good and packed with duck. Every single dish is prepared with premium ingredients and an enormous amount of care. The mimosas too are top notch and incredibly reasonable in price.
We live in Nob Hill and consider Zinc the absolute best in a sea of good neighborhood options. In terms of a place for a fantastic brunch, dinner or happy hour for that matter - with outstanding food AND service - there is no question that Zinc is the place to go.
Excellent Fathers Day brunch on Sunday. Great variety, fast service, and nice live guitar music. Only drawback is the high noise level.
It's always nice to be remembered and recognized as a frequent customer. Bryan and several others in the staff always greet us warmly. You know you're a 'regular' when they remember what you like to drink. Thank you Zinc, you're a class act.
Food and service were excellent! Love the Prix Fix menu!
Our first service impression was not good. Two of us had arrived before the others and after looking at the wine list asked the young lady who brought bread for a bottle we had chosen. She replied that she was not a server and we would have to ask that person. I watched as she walked to the kitchen, passing the manager, and three servers without telling anyone we wanted wine. It was another five minutes and after the other couple had arrived that we saw anyone to ask for the bottle of wine.
We love Zinc. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun and the service is friendly and impeccable. Great wine list, too!
Delicious simple food. Kind knowledgeable servers. Courteous receptionist. Would go here again.
We went for Sunday brunch and it was such an extensive menu. Everything we had was delicious, presented beautifully, and well served. We'll be back.
Great food, Informed wait staff, Fun environment to dine in, Never disappointed with the overall experience.
Was my husband and I’s favorite date night 5 years go prior to moving to Colorado. We recently moved back and have tried Zinc twice- both not being great. Sad to say the last will be our last. Food runner couldn’t describe a single thing on our plates and had to grab our server.. The food just wasn’t what it used to be. The mussels weren’t cleaned well and tasted gritty and the sauce was t good. Also had another app that was so bad I don’t recall the fish. Husband had beef tortellini and the pasta was so thick it was chewy. I ordered the lamb and it was the first lamb dish I didn’t finish.. leftovers were easily thrown too. What happened Zinc!?! Food just isn’t what it used to be.
Great food and very attentive service. We were going to the theater so had limited time. Our server made sure we were served promptly and had time to enjoy our meals.
Everything about our experience was excellent however the pulled pork Benedict was not very good for me or my future son-in-law.
