Greeted in a timely manner. Requested a table with a view and was seated in a lovely corner table looking upon the street. Loved it. Thank you! Service was friendly yet at times not too timely, but it was busy so we can’t complain too much. Food was amazing! Ordered the Dumplings as an app, could of ate them as an entire meal! Main courses were the chicken and salmon, both of which were superb. Extensive wine list, beer list could use a few additions and I would have liked to see more house specialty cocktails. Overall though I would gladly recommend this place to others.
Terrific food nice room not hurried. Portions were good size
Excellent, creative food, great service. We will definitely return.
Zinc is a wonderful restaurant. I have enjoyed a meal there several times and I have always been very pleased with the wonderfully prepared and presented food. This time was no different. We have been wanting to make it here for restaurant week, and we are happy we did. We both enjoyed our entrees and the pre fix menu was perfectly planned and presented!
The food was innovative and tasty, service very attentive.
Food is superb. Service is excellent. Enjoyed the amuse bouche.
I have been here many times and the food and service are always fabulous. Came for restaurant week. Although it was very busy, we were seated and served right away and the offerings were great!
This was my first visit to ZINC and my friends had been before. It was a good choice for our get-together but so noisy it was hard to carry on a conversation.
Visiting daughter’s college event
The overall experience was extremely pleasant. From the greeting the moment we entered the restaurant until the thank you for coming as we exited we felt appreciate. Food presentation, flavor and friendly service were both far above expectations especially as busy as it was on this evening.
Some of the best service you could ask for, and the food is always incredible.
It was restaurant week in New Haven, so Zinc was packed. Our reservation was acknowledged and handled promptly, but the table we were first offered was awkward to get into and cramped. They did find us a better table, but since I had made reservations well in advance, I would have hoped for a better table. But our server was terrific and the food was great. So despite the hassle about the table we had a great time. Zinc is one of my favorite New Haven restaurants. I'll be back.
Loved the food, very unique. The service was excellent. Very comfortable and not too noisy.
We weren’t seated for 15-20 minutes despite reservation. The food was over salted and the portions were small (especially compared to price and quality).
The mezcal cocktail was delicious.
Amazing as usual. High quality food, unique combinations, always delicious.
Food is delicious! Worth it! The only thing I’d suggest is to edit Parking info in restaurant profile there is no “validated parking”, I parked in Crown Garage because restaurant profile and I paid 7 dollars because the restaurant says they do not have parking included. For better experience in next customer please consider this update!
We had a lovely anniversary dinner here. The staff was incredibly polite and attentive, even bringing us a little toast to start off the meal. The food was also delicious, especially the saag paneer! I would definitely recommend for any nice occasion, whether something like an anniversary or just a nice evening out.
Both the food and the service were excellent. Zinc is a wonderful treat...creative, delicious, great wine list, impeccable service...it has it all!
Service was great! Food was good. We started with the grilled shrimp which was good but I think there was too much going on with too many flavors mixed together with the glazes and sauces, etc. I lost the shrimp
All in all, I would dine at Zinc again. Very cozy and romantic. Our server was attentive and other staff pleasurable.
The food was phenomenal. The service was great. Drinks were excellently crafted. The food complements itself very well.... Will def return.
Ate at an early Friday evening seating (5:45). The service was expeditious, but we never felt like we were being chased out. Our server was friendly and informative but not pushy. We shared a cheese plate, and had the hanger steak and salmon - both excellent.
Overall quality of filler sauces and sides, pretty heavy handed overwhelmed the stripe sea-bass, duck breast not tender and buried in filigree and the special had more rice noodles then shrimp and shellfish. Probably will not go back. Cocktails poorly made, wine list minimal. But the lettuce wrap and dumpling appetizers were tasty. Review from a perspective of foodies who dine primarily in Boston and New York!
Great all around experience. This was our first time eating here. Our server did a great job with helping us learn the menu and determining what we should order. The foot was very tasty and perfectly cooked.
Really amazing food and good portions! Very pleasant place for dinner.
While New Haven has a broad selection of decent restaurants, it has only a few that rise above for special occasions. Enters Zinc with its creative menu, attentive service and relaxed atmosphere. Took a friend there for her birthday. Happy to report that Zinc and its attentive staff made this evening one she will remember.
ZINC is a gem in the midst of downtown New Haven. The service is professional. The menu is very creative and relies on many ingredients from local farms. The wine and mixed drink list is varied and fairly priced. We shared the steamed dumplings for appetizer and then had two exceptional entrees: sushi-grade tuna lightly seared and hangar steak. Both entrees were served with delicious sides (spring rolls, crispy spinach, delightful French fries and mixed salad). The dessert list was tempting (we shared the chocolate mousse cake) and coffees were very good, too. We will definitely return.
First time at Zinc for business meeting. Very urbane. Food was great. However, I ordered two lemon drop martinis and was SHOCKED when I got the bill and was charged $20 dollars for each. That is ridiculous. Lesson learned!
Amazing food, unique combinations creating wonderful flavors! I’m not even a foodie but can imagine that this would be heaven for them. Also reasonably priced given the quality of food. Definitely my go to for special occasions or when out-of-towners visit. Recommended to all.
We love Zinc. The food is always excellent and the service is consistent.
It’s our go to date night spot.
We have been to Zinc a number of times. It is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always great tasting and creative, the staff is incredibly nice and it is extremely close to the parking garage which is great when it is cold out.
The portions are appropriate and the price is reasonable. Some of our favorites include the duck nachos, the five cheese appetizer, the chicken and the salmon. Their desserts are a great ending to a wonderful meal.
If you go, ask for Jo the waitress. She is phenomenal.
This was the first time my business guest had dined at Zinc. He was incredibly impressed with the food, service and ambiance. I always am
Service was fantastic. Food was great!
All the food and service was exceptional but didnt have large enough portions
This is our third visit to this restaurant. This visit was the best dining experience. From the hostess, to the wait staff to the meal presentation, it was a memorable and exceptional experience. We began with the pork dumplings which had an interesting peanut sauce with a spicy kick. I had the duck rice bowl which was a delicious symphony of flavors and textures. Very creative. My Wife had the Montauk Striped Bass with an interesting sauce and whipped butternut squash. Fish cooked perfectly. Both dishes were served very hot and that is important. I highly recommend the chocolate and blood orange dessert---great for sharing. Very attentive wait staff. I never had to ask for water! Complimentary parking at the garage next door with ticket verification at the conclusion of your meal. We plan to return again for another great meal! Also---menu is changed seasonally and that makes Zinc unique!
This is the second time I’ve been to Zinc. The service and food were excellent. Noise level wasn’t bad though I have a little hearing loss which sometimes makes restaurants impossible. This was not the case with Zinc. Very attentive, friendly staff and I liked that the manager came to check on how everything was. We also weren’t rushed which was nice. I was lucky to find on the street parking - not sure I would have later in the week. Overall a lovely experience.
Flawless from teh moment we walked in. The greeting and seating set the tone for the evening as we were welcomed warmly despite showing up late. The kitchen has its spice box well in hand and each dish was a flavor surprise and composed to appeal to the eye. Who knew duck nachos could be done in such a refined and flavorful manner.
The service was just the right balance of attention but not intervention.
We can't wait to go back
We have eaten here many times and it is always delicious. This was no exception. We had the dumplings to begin the meal. I had the sea bass with butternut squash. It was great. The other meals were also delicious.
The best New American restaurant in CT.
Waitress was awesome!
Very good food and great service. We have dined there twice and haven't been disappointed
