Excellent. Great menu. They even had choices on the menu to accommodate my vegan diet.

We had a lovely birthday celebration at Zinc in an energetic environment with delicious, creative, thoughtfully crafted food. The manager, Elizabeth, was extremely responsive with my request to bring in a an outside custom cake. Donna, one of the co-owners, greeted me so kindly when I arrived early and took the cake away so it would be a surprise when presented at the end of the meal. All nine of us enjoyed our dinners. I had the field green salad with pumpkin seeds that was perfectly dressed. At the suggestion of the very sweet waitress, I ordered the Montauk striped bass in carrot and lime coconut broth, fall squash mash, Brussels sprouts and Asian pear. It was delicious. The bass skin was blackened, but not charred, the Brussels sprouts were shaved and blackened but not charred and not over cooked. The Asian pear was so flavorful that I'm curious if it was macerated in something delicious before going into the dish. My husband had the grilled hangar steak which was tender and flavorful. Our daughter enjoyed her duck bulgogi and some of our guests had the ricotta gnocchi. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. I'm looking forward to our next meal at Zinc. The only thing that I wish were different is I would have preferred for the lighting to be a little stronger. I like to admire my beautiful plate before I eat it and that's hard to do when the lights are low but that's just me.

We came here for restaurant week and the food was absolutely delicious. They were also ok with having us stay even as the restaurant emptied out and didn't rush us, which I appreciated.

Zinc has excellent and immaginative food and very good service. The tables are close together so it's a bit noisy. A New York Stye restaurant, to my mind. Recommended.

We love Zinc and it didn't disappoint us: the food was great (we had the salmon and the chicken entrees and the appetizers and desserts that were part of the Special Menu) The service was A+ both in efficiency and in friendliness. Unfortunately, I forgot that the night was part of Restaurant Week and the place was super-busy and the noise level was, naturally, much higher than desirable. It wasn't a typical situation, though, so my only advice is to avoid Restaurant Week if you want to meet friends for low key conversations.

This is not my first visit to Zinc and it will not be my last. I have left multiple reviews on this site before, so hopefully you will find those as more descriptive than this one (not much time to elaborate).
The food is always of great quality and interesting combinations, and the service is always top notch. They have a long wine list for bottles, pretty good options for by the glass, and some great changing cocktails. The Menu changes on a seasonal basis, but if you're looking for one go-to that never disappears it's the awesome Duck Nachos.
The Noise level depends on how full the place is, but in general you can always hear your conversation without much trouble and it has a nice Ambiance. Dress code / elegance is a little above your average, but you don't have to get to dressy and I've never seen them give anyone any problems with it.
This restaurant has few competitors/arguments in the discussion of Best Overall Restaurant in New Haven. (There are a few I've heard argued that are good, but this is my choice by far.)

Very enjoyable. This restaurant does everything right. Service is excellent, food is the best. We have been here several times in the last few months, and it never, ever disappoints.
Donna (co-owner) is the most gracious person, we love her sparkling personality.

Can't wait to return!

Food was excellent as always. They have modified the menu which is good news since it was getting a bit repetitious. Our waitress was flat but efficient. At times we felt a bit hurried but overall service was adequate. Yes the food is so outstanding at Zinc it is a place we frequent regularly

We have been to this restaurant a few times, and will be returning again on 11-4-17.
The service is outstanding, as is the food. It's somewhat upscale, but not "stuffy".
Parking is validated in certain lots, which is a definite plus.
We have recommended Zinc to several people.

We wound up leaving because it was not a pleasant environment. The tables are very squished together, and my friend felt like he was getting seasick from all the people bustling past us. Not a great spot for a quiet meal...and our drinks cost $40, for two cocktails, which feels excessive.

Absolutely outstanding! My wife and I love coming to Zinc. We had our favorite lettuce wraps and duck nachos to start. The flavors are so distinct and the textures (a little crunchy) gets it right! We loved our entrees of chicken and pork chop. The sauces on each bring the meal together.

Let me start by saying that the hostess and staff were all very friendly and professional. We were seated with a reservation right away as we were in town to see a show at the Shubert Theater and needed to get in and out within an hour. The disappointment came with the food. First off, two of the highly recommended "signature" cocktails were not available to order as they were short on the ingredients. Not good for a restaurant of this caliber to start off with "things that you can't order". Oh well, we chose some wine and that was quite good. The appetizers were disappointing...the steamed dumplings were served like a bowl of overcooked ravioli ...awful presentation. Never saw this appetizer served in a bowl at other restaurants. The lettuce wraps contained about a teaspoon each of very spicy beef without the peanuts that were on the menu description. Not a great start but we ordered the Gnocchi dish and the Bombay Vegetable Curry for dinner. The gnocchi was flavorful but heavy and mixed with several things that took away from the main ingredient of the dish...i.e. the gnocchi should be light and fluffy with a simple sauce and some grated cheese. That was not this dish's offering. The Bombay dish was my daughters' choice and she said it was good although the portion was quite large so we wrapped and took that with us. I am sure there are other better choices on the menu for dinner but as far as consistency of their menu, I wouldn't return to Zinc myself as I think there are other very good restaurants in the New Haven area which offer superior food such as Goodfellas and Shell & Bones. Those would be my choices for the next visit to New Haven.
