ZINC New Haven
Co-Owners Donna Curran and Chef Denise Appel combine more than 20 years of experience to create a restaurant that reflects their passion for great local food and quality service. ZINC has evolved into one of the city’s most popular gathering spots for both local foodies and visiting ones.
It is a noisy place, but the food and service was amazing and we’ll definitely be back!
We loved our appetizers and main courses.
Unfortunately desserts weren’t as awesome.
Overall would come back for sure!
The food was good. The server Andrea went above and beyond. Her knowledge of the menu and ability to answer questions was top notch. The atmosphere was very nice. What else can you ask for? Good food, good service, good atmosphere!
This is a reasonably-priced, beautiful restaurant that combines great service with delicious, unique food. It is also walking-distance from the Yale campus. Just a delicious, friendly venue. Very well-balanced wine and cocktail list, as well!
The food was delicious and different. Good cocktails, great service. I highly recommend Zinc!
You have to eat the duck nachos, and the paella was absolutely great.
A special dinner with my daughter before she leave for college. It was a great meal.
Great service and delicious food as usual! Our long time favorite restaurant in New Haven delivers yet again.
Have not been there in a while. Still awesome.
Server was not attentive. Felt like we were being rushed through the meal. Our meal was presented within 5 minutes of the wine being opened. After our meal was served no one came back to ask how we liked the meal. The noise level was fairly high even though the restaurant was only about 60% filled. Prices are fairly high for the quality of the food.
Amazing service, superbly plated and presented, totally loved the food. Will go back again.
Have been to Zinc before and It's usually more of a 4-5 star quality. Tonight we were left unimpressed.
Service was outstanding, food not so much. 2 of the 4 got the paella on the menu. Although we like spicy food, there was no indication in the menu that this meal was spicy. The chef was certainly heavy handed as well which made the dish one note. The heat overpowered everything.
Our waiter felt bad and said she would notify the chef, but it was apparent that both plates were barely touched due to the poor preparation. For the prices on their menu I would have expected a little more care and perhaps either offering a replacement meal or to take the items off the bill. Waste of $70 on those 2 dishes was a lot to swallow. For that reason we won't be back.
I'm all for paying for quality but the restaurant has to live up to their side of that bargain. When they fail they should own it.
Would have left 1 star but the pork belly and duck nachos were great!
Food, trying too hard to be international using local ingredient. Personally would visit authentic food restaurant. Feel their local client may not feel comfortable going to ethnic restaurant, but just coming here for “ethnic food”.
From the greeting at the door to the staff and the fine wine. The meal was great. The whole Evening was perfect.
Consistency is the hall mark of this veteran restaurant of New Haven, now on the eve of celebrating its 20th anniversary. It is equally enjoyable for a casual lunch with old friends as it is for a more formal evening meal with guests or visitors. The menu varies itself sufficiently that old favorites are given a good run and new and tempting dishes appear with regularity. The wine list is superb both for wines by the glass and for its comprehensive cellar. The service is charming without being over intimate.
WHILE THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD, THE DRINKS WERE AWFUL. THE 12 DOLLAR MINT MOJITOS WERE VERY POORLY MADE. WHEN WE SWITCHED TO ORDER MOUNT GAY RUM AND TONICS, THE BARTENDER USED A DIFFERENT RUM AND THE WAITRESS NEVER KNEW. THAT IS INEXCUSABLE. ..IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE BRAND OF LIQUOR ASKED FOR, ADVISE THE CUSTOMER.
DISAPPOINTED DESPITE THE VERY GOOD FOOD.
This was our first time at Zinc and I know it wont be our last. We settled in on "small plates" to share. Amazing variety of flavors and freshness made our dinner enjoyable. Our attentive waiter was helpful in describing the items. Great fusion of flavors! Looking forward to our next visit!
Post-show dinner with three teenagers. Despite wildly differing tastes we all sampled and thoroughly enjoyed each plate brought to the table. Waiter was outstanding and she made sure our food was nut and raw egg free. Only drawback was seat between kitchen entrance and exit doors (exit door was open and noise from kitchen was surprisingly quiet for a kitchen but not quite the ambience we had hoped for). Still we were grateful as we had arrived much earlier than expected and were seated anyway. Top marks for flavor, service and overall experience. Will certainly recommend and come back.
Zinc is New Haven's 'ever green' restaurant: it aims high both in food and drink and service and never fails to reach its mark. My last lunch I had an overseas visitor as my guest and she was clearly delighted and impressed by what they saw and ate. The recent renovations have added a further touch of elegance and style to this landmark restaurant.
Zinc is always a food lover’s delight, particularly their farm market menu.
Good menu choices for gluten and dairy free and vegetarian. Everything was good, just not spectacular. Service was excellent. Prices were too high for the food, entrees each high $20-30's. I recommend to try it, maybe lunch is better value.
Everything is delicious!!
Food was excellent, and the service great! Parking was challenging, but overall perfect!
Amazing food and amazing service. We were very impressed with both meals that we tried.
The service was great and the paella was delicious!
The food is always great at Zinc but with the exception of a couple of seasonal menu items the menu does not change much. The cheese selection is good but the portion of cheese is so minuscule I’d be embarrassed to send it out if the kitchen. 2 of our 5 cheese selections were literally a 1” cube.
Love this restaurant. Went there for our anniversary. Highly recommend the tuna with crispy kale and spring rolls - so amazingly delicious, just perfect!
Found through Google and had a menu that seemed able to serve everyone. Tasty food, loved the spice! Had a teen with us that didn’t seem to have too much to choose from for his liking. Given the price, a salad or side would be appropriate but didn’t happen with all entrees ordered. Early dinner, so seating and noise were not an issue.
Absolutely incredible food!!!! Amazing service as well
We enjoyed a very nice meal at Zinc to celebrate my daughter’s Masters degree. My daughter is vegan and enjoyed the BBQ Tofu app and curry dinner. I had the paella which was very good and my wife had the gnocchi and cleaned her plate. The service was excellent, we will go back.
Great place; food never disappoints!
I took my husband out for Father's Day and the food and service was excellent! Love this place
Always my favorite restaurant--the food is not only delicious but is sourced sustainably. The Duck Nachos appetizer is delicious and so too is the Tuna entree.
Unique take on nachos , duck confit with homemade chips and delicious fish paella also a u inquest and delicious take
The food and service was excellent. We enjoyed the slight twist to lots of their dishes.
Our second visit to Zinc confirmed our memory of excellent food, perfect service and delicious wine. It seemed to exceed our expectations. Whatever we ordered (duck confit and an amazing vegetarian dish) was exquisite. We normally do not take leftovers home from restaurants. Different here, and we loved the leftovers the next day just as much.
We will definitely be back!
It was okay.
Outstanding restaurant. Creative menu, carefully chosen wine list, impeccable service. One of the best restaurants in Connecticut. I highly recommend it,.
A bit over air conditioned at the table in the back. Everything else was lovely!
