ZINC Holland Center Dining
Allow yourself at least an hour and a half. Waitress was distracted. Deposited food and disappeared before you were able to ask for anything else. ordered wine with dinner and dinner was pretty much gone before it got there. They are used to one sitting so apparently they think that if you are finished before the concert starts, you're good. Limited menu becomes more limited when several items were not available that night (not out, never available.) they have been better in the past but this night was subpar. Having said that, we like the convenience of not having to walk from somewhere else to the concert venue.
From the hostess to our server Jackie...our evening at Zinc was fabulous...tasty food and remarkable cocktails!...perfect start to Lizz Wright concert!
Service was great, James was our server and very personable! Food was not very hot. Had the steak sandwich, not much flavor.
Food is excellent
Bar service and mixed drinks were terrible, just get a glass of wine
Dinner in the past has been disappointing until the last symphony. We are optimistic that they certainly could not screw up a hamburger. Our order was not even close to being delivered while 3 tables who arrived after us were served. Then, 40 minutes later the entire plate was room temperature. We recieved our new entre 20 min later and the cheese was burnt and cold. It was awful!
We had a 6:15 reservation for a 7:30 performance. We ended up getting to our seats just as they were dimming the lights. Service was slow, slow, slow. Slow to be greeted by our waiter, slow to have our order taken, our wine was delivered mid-way through the meal, waited 20 minutes after the entree to ask about our dessert and bill. Rather than a relaxing evening and stroll to our seats, we were on edge waiting for the waiter and then finally, for the bill and the credit card to be returned. This place is hit and miss on timing. Last month it worked out perfectly, which is why we came back this month, after having stayed away for a year. Will not return this performance season.
Zinc is a good option if you want to eat prior to an event at the Holland Center. Go early. We ate at 6:30 before a 7:30 show. Two different items we ordered were sold out which was disappointing.
Our server was amazing. Location is great if you are attending an event at The Holland. It’s noisy like a cafeteria, and the menu is not Keto friendly.
Atmosphere was great. Food was excellent. We went in before a concert we were seeing at the Holland theatre. We were 15 min past our reservation time but the restaurant wasn’t busy and there other people still dining. Sadly, our sever saw us sit down and I saw her roll her eyes. She was ready to be done for the night and clearly was not happy about waiting on us. The food was incredible. I would like to have tried desert but she brought us the check and never asked if we wanted any. It’s too bad her rushing us made the experience less than exceptional.
I would definitely go back if I am ever in town again.
Our experience was excellent, Sam, our wait staff person was an extremely pleasant young lady and really helped make our evening great!
I have eaten at Zinc many times and have enjoyed the food , the service is excellent .
It was the first time eating at ZINC. The service was outstanding and the meal was awesome. You were not felt rushed the waitress provided us suggestions as well as drink suggestions. I would totally recommend this prior to the concert. We did not realize they were open for lunch during the week. We will be going for lunch in the future. Thanks for a great evening.
Service has been hit and miss for years at this restaurant, but it's convenient to go to before a concert at the Holland Center. This visit featured outstanding service from James H. The table was pre-set with rolls and butter, so we could nosh while our food order was taken. Delivery of drink orders was slow, but that was due to drinks being handled by an bartender outside of Zinc, rather than Zinc itself. (Note: if you advertise Perrier on the drink menu, don't stock red grapefruit Perrier in a can as your only choice. Pony up for a supply of the unflavored stuff in a bottle. Sheesh.) Food orders came quickly, although as always, the food is never piping hot - it must be coming from a kitchen some distance away. The food was good and portions were reasonable. Desserts were delectable, but on the small side for sharing, so be sure to order your own dessert.
Really nice place with a good, seasonal menu and good variety. Very convenient for shows at the Holland. Never feel rushed.
We went about 90 minutes before a show, and were done about 10 minutes before showtime. There was a rush on salmon, our waitress said, which delayed our meal a bit. The kale salad was delicious, the veggies gratin were good, if cheesy. The wine selection was very good; the PN and white Burgundy we drank were generously poured and quite good. Our waitress was very pleasant. As it was just before a show, it was busy and a bit noisy but not loud. Lots of nice natural light came through the windows. They conveniently offer sippy cups to take drinks into the show, and refrigerate your leftovers for you to pick up after the show. All in all, a very pleasing, accommodative experience.
It was a very nice evening. The food and service were wonderful. It was also very convenient, the dinner and shower the same location.
The new spring menu has some delicious new items—entrees and desserts. Had a really good meal.
ZINC is a nice place to dine before a show at the Holland. Good food choices, excellent bread and butters as you sit down. Dessert selection was great.
We really enjoyed Zinc!! Our food was absolutely wonderful and our waitress was too! The only suggestion is clearing plates off after Each course. We will definitely come back!
We were attending a concert and wanted to eat close, so we chose Zinc. The food was excellent. The server was timely and very polite. The meals were beautiful and looked like works of art, we almost felt bad eating them! 😂
When we ordered a glass of wine, it was almost 30 minutes before we were informed they
were out of the kind we ordered. So our waitress offered an alternative. Ten minutes later
someone else came by and asked how things were, we said we were still waiting for our
glass of wine. That person went directly and brought our wine. Then the waitress also
returned with wine. When she saw what happened, she said that glass was on her. That was
a good recovery.
When there is a relatively short time from the time of seating to the beginning of the show
there is no excuse for not bringing wine within 5 minutes of ordering it. We had a similar experience last year.
While will give Zinc another chance, if we have a similar experience in the future, we will most likely look for other options for dining before a show. At this point in time, we cannot recommend Zinc to others.
Service very slow. Not our server’s fault. Out of first choice meal had to order second choice. Food good but very slow. Pushed to finish and get to show on time. Hard to enjoy food when worrying about time.
Always wonderful. We come each time we see a show at the Holland.
Cuisine was outstanding ....service good....wine selection good ....
Food was excellent and service as well. Location of course is perfect.
Our dinners were unique and excellent. Our table server was lovely.
Always outstanding food and a great place to eat prior to the symphony concerts.
A nice quiet environment with people dressed for a nite out.
We appreciate the ambiance .
We had heard mixed reviews about Zinc. We were hesitant to try it. Tonight before the “Women Who Rock” we gave it a try. I will tell you that we have eaten all over the country and tonight Zinc was EXCEPTIONAL! The host was friendly, our waitress,JACKIE ,was one of the most attentive servers we have ever had. It was another customer’s birthday, and Jackie, sang Happy Birthday to her..such a magnificent performance that we told Jackie she should be in the show!!!! We were so impressed by tonight’s service that we spoke directly to the manager about Jackie. Keep up the good work!! We will be back and we will ask to be seated in Jackie’s section😀Thank you, M.Hahn
The food was, like always, tasty. The staff and service is always great. I was especially appreciative of the restaurant taking care of special requests.
The food was great, once it finally arrived. Of course, it was probably my fault that it took so long because I ordered roast chicken and chicken takes longer to cook. It was worth the wait. The skin was crispy. The meat was juicy -- even the white breast meat. The vegetables were cooked and seasoned perfectly. My husband had the meat loaf and he really liked it. Our server April was attentive, but did not hover. We were surprised when we got the bill and it was way more than we expected. However, upon review, we found that it was the bill for some other table. ($147 vs. $47) April corrected that error at once and was most apologetic. No harm was done. I just found it to be amusing. There was only one thing that disturbed me. Our table was beneath an air vent and so I got very cold. I would have stayed there to enjoy my coffee, but it was just too cold to sit there any longer. It was a great place to eat before a show. We'll do it again.
It was absolutely perfect. We were going to show on a cold winter day and this way we were early to find close parking and we didn’t have to be in the elements twice. Food was spectacular-some different combinations. We will go back even if we are not going to s show.
April was an excellent server!! Food was perfect - very tasty!
Symphony concert. Always easy and enjoyable before a concert. Nice variety on the menu.
I was disappointed. I have season tickets for the Omaha symphony and attend other events as well so I have eaten here at least 20 times over the last two years. The food is always good, and the service has been OK. This time I was there by myself, a single woman, and the service was at best lackadaisical, at worst negligent. Or perhaps they thought I enjoyed sitting there watching what was left of my dinner congeal in the bowl for 20 minutes. I’ll have to think about it before I decide to go back.
Being located right in the Holland Center, Zinc could easily use its convenience alone to draw patronage and/or gouge its customers. But it doesn’t. The food is excellent, well in line creatively with comparably priced restaurants in town, and the menu includes several attractive options for under $20 (including “Mr. Holland’s meatloaf”). The wait staff is attentive, helpful, and well aware of what time the performance most diners will attend will start. In January and February, pre-performance dining at Zinc is virtually a necessity. For the rest of the year, it’s an option we happily embrace.
Very enjoyable meal and atmosphere to relax before the symphony.
In a very cold night out at the Symphony, Zinc, right there at the Holland, was a perfect place for dinner. It was easy for the six of us to talk, and the food was delicious. The service got us in and out without rush and the right amount of attention. Definitely I plan to return!
Always excellent and so convenient!
This is the 3rd time I have eaten at Zinc before a performance and the food and service has always been very good. Will definitely recommend and go again.
