The options for vegetarians were limited and uninspiring, but great wine options, good cocktails, and wonderful service.

Normally we really like the place. But, we were not impressed with the prefix menu on Valentine’s Day.

First time there, great food and service. Ken is very knowledgeable about wine and ready and willing to make suggestions. The food was excellent, we’ll definitely be back for more.

Fun small plates, nice wine, and great bar staff. My husband and I had dinner at Zin on Saturday night. We got a great seat at the bar. Kyle, our bartender was wonderful. He was attentive and fun, making sure our glasses were always full. We ordered truffles fries, although a very tasty fry, no truffle flavor. We also had Italian flatbread, bacon wrapped dates, and roasted red pepper hummus; everything was yummy. We will definitely be back!

The owner and staff are all very sociable and attentive to each table. Very good food and great wine menu!

Friendly neighborhood place with really great wine

The bbq flatbread pizza was delicious. The lobster mac....not so much, kind of dry. Huge servings of both. Service was friendly, attentive and welcoming. I would go back, just try another dish.

Since expanding , the food is below average and the service was terrible. Several of us ordered the lobster macaroni and cheese which came cold and hard. Other orders we’re similarly bad. After being seated for 10 minutes, our waitress came to the table to get our drink order, she then excuse herself after not taking our order and didn’t come back for another 10 minutes. She kept calling everyone in our party Hun. Zin wasn’t that busy so Im surprised our experience wasn’t’ better. Not sure if we’ll ever go back.

Food and drinks were outstanding. The service could have been much better.
1. Server opened and poured a beer poorly, it spilled over the top onto the table and it ran onto a lap. She took an excessive time to bring something to clean it up.
2. We ordered two appetizers, a flat bead pizza and pretzel which were very tasty.
3. It took the server a while to come back and ask if we wanted anything to order or fresh drinks. We had to ask for water several times.
4. Two of the four meals were delivered at the same time and the last burger was never placed by the server in the kitchen. When it finally arrived it was over cooked.

Kids' burgers were quite rare, so in the future if they are for kids, cook them longer.

Fantastic for any occasion

The food was good. Our server was friendly. The service was very, extremely, slow.

What an intimate party space and fun for New Years eve! The bistro accommodated the needs of our group with finesse and the live music was lovely. But the complimentary olive Tampenade appetizer was pointless, coming a half hour after being seated. It was awkward to try to eat... A narrow crust of bread and no way to apply the tiny amount of chopped olives
easily. The other courses were more generous portions and delicious. Our server appeared to be at odds with the wine steward who was taking great care of us. When our bill was split our server did it incorrectly. We did not ask for a redo but we would like to return and request a different server. It is a really enjoyable, bistro atmosphere.

Great service and ambiance. Wine paring with food selection is fantastic. Ken is helpful in assessing which wine will fit your taste.

We had a lovely dinner there on new years eve. Our biggest issue was the staff. Our waitress didn't know how to be a waitress. We were guessing that she was filling in or something. She didn't give us all menus when we sat down and we had to ask a few times. Her nails were too long and she had trouble picking up the dishes. She didn't know to serve from the left, she passed dishes in front of other diners at our table. For the price it was a bit disappointing. I hope she was just filling in, but if she wasn't, I hope she gets some intense training quickly. The place is very nice, the food was good, the music was good, the wine was good, and she was nice, but just didn't know what she was doing.

Ken the wine guy and maitre’de is just such an enjoyable guy. He makes wine such s pleasure and experience. We love having this place locally!

Highly recommend for the 35+ crowd but really anyone should enjoy. They take the menu seriously including the wine list. Great to see a local restaurant do well.

The food was cold and service was very slow on a Wednesday night

Excellent food and great, personal service. Love their wine list and choice of beers. Always friendly and casual. I hesistate to give them a review because we won't be able to get in.

The owner has a great knowledge on wine and a good storyteller. We had the meat and cheese board, which was excellent and we both tried their specials for the day. Great service, we will definitely go again.

A group of us went to Zin for the first time to celebrate 2 birthdays. We had 7PM reservations, and the place was packed when we got there. Our table was ready right away and we were seated. Service was a little slow getting started, which was fine since we were waiting for a late comer. Eventually we ordered a round of drinks and some truffle fries to get us started. The owner, Ken, personally helped us make our selections of beer, wine and cocktails. I chose the Sloth, which was delicious. Another standout was the Cucumbertini. Eventually we opted to get a couple of rounds of small plates instead of a main course. The truffle fries were so good, another round was ordered, along with the cheese and charcuterie board, stuffed dates, and salads - and probably a couple of other things I don't remember. All were delicious. Service was overall good and very friendly, except that our waitress at times seemed only capable of taking 1 order at a time. She would come to the table, see that one of us needed a drink and get their order and ignore everyone else at the table. This happened more than once so it got a little annoying - I can only attribute it to how busy they were. Overall though, it was a great evening and I'm looking forward to going back.

Food was good and the servers where friendly and seemed that they enjoyed their job.

Prices were good and we will be going back!!

I've been to Zin twice for dinner. The manager and staff greet us as old friends. The food is fresh and full of flavor! I recommend the flatbreads and Bison burger.

Was with three other friends. When they served our food they stated they were out of one of our orders as they served the other three. Meaning one of us didn’t have meal. By the time the replacement meal arrived the other three were done with their meals. Horrible experience.

Wonderful food and very nice service! We sat at the bar - has great conversations with the owner and bartender. Great place for a glass / bottle of wine with food. Love the farm to table - wonderful to know exactly where the food was coming from (local and some items across a few state lines - MN) I look forward to coming back for another bottle of wine and to try their cheeses!

Great place! Food was very good. We had soup, salad and one of the specials, All were delicious. It's a small place and a bit tight.

Jorge was and IS such an amazing person. Bob is blessed to have him.

We love Zin. The food and wine selection are great. Everyone is super nice and the staff go out of their way to make each meal amazing.

What a great dining experience! We were greeted warmly by the owner, who then also checked in with us several times to make sure everything was perfect. The service was impeccable; and every entree we tried was delicious. From the wine, and creative cocktails-all the way to dessert, we were extremely satisfied. We will be back!!

Fun, awesome and noisy. The staff is intelligent, knowledgeable and deeply engaging. They brought a laughter, knowledge and great food to our evening. This was only our second visit but definitely not our last. Go eat, enjoy!!

Zin Gastro Pub was a nice find in Lake Zurich. We loved the small plate menu, especially if you are not into ordering huge dinners.
