I’ve been to Zima many times. I must say I was disappointed by the service last night. The service in general was not up to expectations. One of my favorite things there is the Medovik honey cake. Unfortunately, the staff did not tell us they would not be serving past 2100 at which time they brought us the check without sollicitation. If you are going to close at 2100, let people know so that they can order dessert (in this case, a dessert which is made in advance—it’s cake). Definitely a let down compared to other times.
Disappointing experience, would not recommend. First thing the staff said when we arrived was that we had to leave within 2 hours. Service was hostile and slow. Main courses arrived 15 minutes before the 2 hour slot finished and the staff rudely told us we had to leave. Food was OK but not worth the trip. Plenty of better places to eat.
Excellent food & service. There is a fairly small menu but there seems to be something for everyone. Some of the dishes look quite small but don't be deceived.
Went there early in the evening so fairly quiet when we arrived. When we left 2 hours later it was beginning liven up.
I'm really pleased I found this place.
Beware the sour cream which can be slathered over your food even if not listed on the menu.
A very mixed meal - a great starter of potato rosti and smoked salmon, delicious, nicely presented and a generous serving.
Horrible main course, was served tepid, cabbage stuffed with meat. Bland and horrible.
Dessert of cherry dumplings poorly presented with barely enough sauce and grey looking dumplings which were unappealing. Badly conceived and presented.
£40 a head for pretty uninspiring food - won't be returning.
Fantastic food! Really happy to discover Russian cuisine!
Enjoyable evening with good food and friendly service.
Wonderful meal and excellent service!! Russian mule drink was very tasty and vodka single shots are a must to do!!
I'm not Russian but I lived in Moscow for a year as well as returning to the country over 10 times, so I know the cuisine very well. This is probably some of the most authentic Russian food you'll find in London (and pleasantly unpretentious, unlike most of the restaurants aimed at Russian oligarchs in the city). Cocktails are also very tasty and service is on point.
Very simple food not a restaurant ‘s level. Will never come back..
Feels like home! A great atmosphere and exceptional food.
Wonderful service - the waitress from Kaliningrad made our visit especially lovely! Food was also great and I loved the homemade vodka shots. Would definitely recommend.
Always great food and service every time we go. Highly recommend the pelmeni!
Overall had an okay experience. However would be good if staff speaks English in restaurant based in central London.
Good we had Russian speakers to translate..
LG level music was quite outdated to 90s and millenium in USSR and post USSR time.
Interesting cocktails and reasonable price for caviar.
Probably will come back occasionally.
Great casual dinner :) great people and food. Traditional quality food
This is my second time at Zima, introduced a week ago by a polish friend. I took my husband and friend from the US who confirmed my view and enjoyed the food, wine and atmosphere. I appreciated the charm of Anna, who I presume is the manager. My one request would be for waiting staff to have a better grasp of British English, our attentive waiter did not understand our question about the sharing plater: he told us what was included, but could not tell us whether as three people sharing we should order one or two.
Good good but close at 9pm
Lovely introduction to Russian food. Felt a bit rushed as we were given the dessert menu before
I had finished my main!! But the main server was lonely she was good at recommending dishes
We really enjoyed our dinner at Zima and both my Russian boyfriend and myself thought the food was really tasty and pretty authentic. Great modern quirky deco and very attentive service from the staff. We absolutely loved the horseradish infused vodka! It’s perhaps not the cheapest place but considering the location and the overall experience we will definitely come back!
Great find in Soho. Real Russian food and hospitality. Nice place, great food, nothing else to ask for! Perfect
Lovely place for a friends gathering. The food was great as well.
Even though table was pre-booked first we were offered table in the middle of the roomin the way to the exit when a lot of tables were available in more private areas. So we had to ask to change the table. The table we were offered first was empty till the end of our visit. Asks for for the drink refreshment were forgotten twice though food is really good and I would call it proper Russian resepiece.
A real find in Soho, Zima serves delicious Russian food prepared and served beautifully (I should mention that I lived in Russia for 8 years, so know what I'm talking about). The menu is uncomplicated and represents several of the most classic typical Russian dishes. The restaurant is comfortable, busy without being crowded, with interesting and tasteful decor riffing on early 20thC suprematism and constructivist art (in particular Malevich). The staff are friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
We enjoyed our dinner very much. Dishes were creative and in the same time true to the original classic recipes. Infused vodkas a must to try.
We were a party of 5 and all loved the food, ambiance and service! We’ll definitely come back!
The vodka platter is very good. Russian music, Russian staff, Russian vibe. Great location. The price are very reasonable.
parents came over
Wow. What a fantastic place. Great warm welcome and intriguing decor. Vegetarian lunch menu was delicious and the honey cake is highly recommended.
We have decided to go there for my friend's birthday dinner. Service at the beginning was quite quick, however it all went downhill from there. One would assume that when a restaurant has got a wine menu a waiter would be able to serve it properly. Sadly, this was not the case as no one has given it a try before he poured it all out to the glasses. We have ordered a soup each, the fish-based ones were lukewarm at best, however tasted really good. Entrees came really late, with half of them cold. I have sent mine back to the kitchen and instead of getting a reheated one, as this is what I have asked for, the waiter decided to wait until everyone has finished, took the plates and given us the dessert menu. My cold entree was included in the bill, which I found really upsetting as I did not even have half of it before sending it back. Probably would recommend for takeouts if you are able to reheat, otherwise sadly not.
The food is really nice. I totally recommend pelmeni (russian raviolis) and the vinegret salad. But the portions aren’t big and all in all I found the place a tiny bit pricey.
It was nice to come back to old good times with the big possibility to come back again.
The food was tasty, well prepared and well presented. Staff were attentive without being overbearing and friendly. Portion size was good... unfortunately I didn't have enough space to sample the desert menu. Still, there's always next time 😋
The best Russian food in London with very cool Soviet art and modern interior design.
Not impressed at all.
As a Russian, I expected different experience and food, but oh well. I was surprised that food wasn’t tasty at all.
The service was mediocre as well.
Three out of five and won’t return again.
It was brilliant: nice service, great food, comfortable space, as the tables aren’t ‘on top of each other’.
Very nice place. Food was very good. Service was nice. The baked apple pudding was amazing.
Amazing russian cuisine
The place is cosy, lively and quiet enough to have a conversation, a nice mix of being both elegant enough to have a date there and casual enough to relax. Very tasty food, feels homemade. The service is both personal and not the least bit intrusive.
Service was top notch. My server accomodated a last minute surprise birthday wishes request for my friend which was amazing!
Great and fast service. If you want to eat something different among the classic and most cousine, Zima is the place for you
