ZIMA Russian Restaurant
Treat yourself to the best priced caviar in London alongside the favourites of Russian cuisine, welcoming atmosphere and sip on our homemade selection of infused vodka.
Zima’s seasonal menu draws inspiration in flavour and culture from our adventures and travelling across all regions of Russia.
Enjoy our signature dishes such as pirozhki (baked buns), pelmeni (dumplings) and seasonal specials – a perfect match to our selection of home infused vodka nastoikas.
In our three storey townhouse we also run our own Zima Picklery, where we ferment all our seasonal vegetables, fruit, and drinks.
A fine selection of world wines, craft beers and signature cocktails are also being poured at the restaurant and bar.
ZIMA. Escape from the ordinary!
Wonderful food, but service is rather slow and elusive. They were out of their only draft beer and medanik (honey cake) on our visit.
Excellent food, nice beer and vodka...
Everything was great except that my food was sprinkled with coriander. The reason why I love Eastern European food is because they don’t use this disgusting herb in their cuisine and there shouldn’t be any risk of encountering it.
Please stick with dill or parsley to keep it amazing, don’t ruin the food with coriander.
Very quiet at lunchtime. Service was OK but ambience was totally flat. We had the set lunch which gave
an idea of Russian food, but was pretty meagre - just a board with a bowl of thin soup and two other small portions. Deserts were extra!
Food was very good, everything we have ordered was tasty and did taste really like the Russian food should. Presentation of the dishes was also nice.
I think it's a bit overpriced given quite poor interior of some corner cafe or bistro, not a restaurant. It could really do with an update, walls are very shabby and overall it has little resemblance of anything Russian.
Delicious food and great atmosphere - will definitely be back!
Lovely place, lovely food!
Very very impressed with the food, so tasty and fresh.
Great location right in the heart of Soho.
Modern Russian cuisine in a great central London location. Food is good. Service is functional and a touch slow
Zima is always great! Drinks, food, atmosphere, location - love going there!
Always a pleasure to visit Zima and bring friends to try my national cuisine.
Fodd is great, service was also good and ambient was pleasant with the just-right volume of music in the background.
Cozy place with Russian comfort food! Will be coming again and again!
Hello Eugene, Thank you for your kind words! Hope to see you again ( and again), ZIMA Team
The service was slow and interacted more with themselves then with customers, playing with their phones etc. it is disgraceful that they put service charge on top of your bill in this restaurant, we had to look for a waiter when we wanted to get main courses as well as pay for a bill. Food was plain and quite disappointing. Borsch was more of an onion and garlic soup, rather then beef and beetroot, vodka plater was horrible, main course cabbage roll stuffed with meat that was not seasoned at all (not even salt). The only good/acceptable dish that we tried was a plate of meat stuffed dumplings with stock, but still far from my execrations.
Overall, very disappointing.
Dear Guest, We're sorry to hear you didn't have a great experience at our restaurant. Though, as you can see from other reviews, guests are mostly pleased with our food and ambience. Yours respectfully, ZIMA Restaurant
Loved the food!
One of the relatively new options in London. Great food! Presentation adequate, nothing special, but flavors and food quality outstanding! Recommended!
Service, ambiance and decoration are nothing to be surprised, but no disappointing. They can make an effort on that, if they want to be Michelin rated...
Dear Guest, We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your meal. Сurrently we're in the process of refurbishment, that's why the interior may seem a little bit plain. Hope to see you after our repair will be finished, ZIMA Team
Very tasty and well prepared authentic Russian food, with carefully selected ingredients. We really enjoyed our time there. Unfortunately the wall next to us was looking very bad and I wish we were told when making the booking which ambient we would sit in, as this was supposed to be a birthday celebration but we ended up at the simplest part of the restaurant.
Dear Kitty, Thank you for such kind words about our cuisine. We're proud to hear that you've chosen us to celebrate your birthday and we're sorry about the wall. We're currently in a process of redecoration, that's why the interior looks not as pretty as usual, but we solemnly swear to finish it before your next visit! Hope to see you soon, ZIMA Restaurant.
First visit to Zima as well as first time in a Russian restaurant. All was perfect! Superb food! Service was great and people very helpful with good explanation. Can’t wait to go back to taste some other of their dishes.
Dear David, We're glad to be your first Russian restaurant and we're twice as glad to hear you enjoyed your visit! Hopefully see you soon, ZIMA, Russian Restaurant
Modern Russian cuisine in a great central London location - try the flight of flavoured vodka!
Reunion of friends
Flavoured vodkas and a really interesting menu
We chose to eat lots of small plates which meant we tried a variety of different dishes.
Our waitress was really patient with us. We were rather loud
Great late lunch and would definitely go again.
Food is amazing, true Russian with a sprinkle of Western European adaptation.
Great restaurant, delicious Russian food, boozy drinks!
Food was decent. On the other hand, yes we got it after the first 5 times you told us the table was required back at 8pm.
We had the best champagne ever and the greatest Russian food in London. A real treat!
Especial thanks to Eddy and Anna for looking after us so well- great banter, good service and very good advice on the menu.
Food was very good.
Typical Russian very good cuisine, and the service was brilliant.
Dear Guest, Thank you fur such a pleasant review! We're happy to hear you enjoyed your time with us. Yours faithfully, ZIMA Team
It used to be so much better! Now it is another owner and menu has nothing Russian in it.
Dear Anna, Thank you for writing this review. We're sorry to hear that you couldn't find anything Russian in our menu. Last time we've seen the menu it's had everything Russian soul ever needs -- Olivier salad, Herring under a fur coat, Borsch, Ukha, Beef Stroganoff, Golubci and even more. Our owners are still the same since the restaurant's been opened. Are you sure it was ZIMA Russian Restaurant you've visited? Hope to hear back, ZIMA Team
Second time I've visited Zima and I love the authentic food there. As a newbie to Russian cuisine it's great to have the waiters explain what the dishes are and to enjoy the food which is beautifully presented and delicious. I took a vegan friend and she was really pleased that there was even a few choices for her diet. Only downside is the ambience - it's really noisy and we had to ask for the music to be turned down as we were shouting at each other to talk - to Zima's credit they did lower the sound level. Lots of groups of guys having shots of Vodka and seemingly shouting toasts at each other as they did it. So in conclusion myself and my guests loved the food, the staff are polite and friendly and very happy to explain their cuisine, and I would return again.
Dear guest, Thank you for such warming review! It pleases us to read that you've chosen us to spend an evening with and it's twice as good to hear that your vegan friend was satisfied with our food. Russian cuisine leaves no choice to vegan people, but we managed to find some options and we're proud to see the result. Our best wishes, ZIMA Team
Interesting place to visit in Soho. Was surprised it was so quiet on a Friday lunchtime, especially given the decent quality of the food.
Service was efficient, not overly warm, but certainly not unfriendly.
Lovely space with some fun and attractive art on the walls.
Food was very tasty and decently priced for the portion size (and for the local area) Highly recommend the Zima Platter for starter. Didn't try many drinks, but the tarragon lemonade, the raspberry mors, and the infused vodkas were all very enjoyable.
Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your lunch with us and were brave enough to try our nastoika and tarragon lemonade. We may seem cold from the outside. That's part of our Russian identity. We actually care about our guests, as would babushka care when being visited by her grandchildren. Hope to see you soon, ZIMA Team
Good food and good atmosphere. Prices are good too.
The first two times we/I visited Zima, we were served by a knowledgeable waiter and waitress, once for dinner and once for lunch. At both dinner with my husband and my lunch alone, complimentary pickles and rye bread with butter were brought before the meal. When my husband and I returned a third time for lunch, the waitress was not present, only two staff who did not seem to know what they were doing. No pickles or bread were brought. We ordered mushroom pickles and those were not brought. The wrong pelmeni were brought--meat rather than the fish pelmeni we had ordered. It took ages between courses and we had to ask for the mushroom pickles we ordered, never minding that no house pickles were served. We got them after our salade Olivier. We asked for rye bread and butter with the mushroom pickles and after a while rye bread but no butter was brought. We had to request that our water glasses be refilled. The food is great, but my advice is to call ahead to make sure the nice blonde waitress is working before going.
Dear Michele, Thank you for taking your time to write this review. We always appreciate our customer's honesty, it helps us to improve our business. We'll interview each one of our waiters team to ensure that nobody'll forget your order next time. If they fail... We heard that Siberia could heal people's forgetfulness... We always serve complimentary bread and pickles for our customers if they're asking us to, so don't hesitate to ask next time you're here. Hope to see you soon, ZIMA Team
Amazing place for dinner with friends, great value, delicious food and drinks. Recommended!
Dear Yulia, Thank you for your review! We're proud to see you among our guests. Hoping to see you soon, ZIMA Team
A new experience following a recommendation, with excellent staff, a very interesting menu, and a great location.
Dear Captain, We're happy to hear that you enjoyed our hospitality (and Ronnie Scott's Anniversary). We'll be glad to welcome you again anytime. Best regards, ZIMA Team
Excellent service, authentic food, it was a little bit noisy
Dear Nikolay, Thank you for your review! Best regards, ZIMA Team
If you're after some authentic Russian food and drink then this is a very good place in central London to try. Staff were really helpful in advising on the menu (not so much the wine) and also the vodkas.
Dear Alison, Thank you for your sweet and honest review! It's much easier to find a good vodka in Russia rather than a good bottle of Merlot (consider it as mission impossible). That's why we've taken a wine tasting recently. Next time you're here, don't hesitate to ask about the wine. Although... What could be better than a shot of homemade cherry nastoika? Best wishes, ZIMA Team
Great restaurant - great food , lovely staff, prompt service, nice location
Service was very polite, quick. Food is absolutely amazing! Very delicious. Like a home cuisine with a restaurant type of modern twist and serving. Will definitely come back there again!
Great food, superb and friendly service, cosy rooftop terrace!
Excellent Service and amazing food! The service was attentive but not over whelming, and made an effort to allow me to try speaking Russian as I am learning. the cocktails are also delicious and the food choices were great!
